247 Notes on fair amount of today's visitors

Quote

AUSTIN, Texas — The Longhorns hosted close to 100 recruits on Saturday for Junior Day ranking from the 2025, ‘26 and ‘27 classes. Horns247 was on the scene and talked to a number of prospects in attendance afterward to get the latest on their recruitments.

We’ll have more coverage as the week goes on, but here are some quick hitters on a plethora of visitors.

This is not everybody that visited. We will have more in the coming days from others not included here.

Quick hitters on the newly offered recruits from Saturday:

Michael Terry III, 4-star ATH, Alamo Heights

Terry visited Texas multiple times before finally receiving his long awaited offer today. Even though the offer of course came today, Terry mentioned the Longhorns amongst TCU and Texas Tech as his three current favorites. Texas didn’t discuss a specific position with Terry today but the staff made it clear they’d love to have him in their 2025 class as an “athlete”.

Rickey Stewart, 4-star RB, Tyler Chapel Hill — SMU commit

The SMU commit got big news on Saturday in the form of an offer from Texas. Stewart was at a loss for words about the development. He spoke highly of Sark and Tashard Choice and the family atmosphere they’ve created.TCU, Oklahoma State, Oregon and Texas Tech are some others in play.

Ryan Fodje, 3-star OT AND Jonte Newman, 4-star IOL, Bridgeland (Newman already held an offer coming into Saturday)

The talented duo of offensive linemen from Bridgeland high school now both have offers from the Longhorns after Fodje picked up his during Junior Day and said it was an honor to talk to the Texas staff. When asked what events stood out today, Fodje replied “the weight room, I love the weight room.” He’ll be at Texas A&M next week, and then Houston shortly afterwards.

Jonte Newman said that Kyle Flood’s message to him was that Texas is the place to go if he wants to go to the NFL, and says the Longhorns currently sit in his top five with other schools like Oklahoma, Alabama, and USC. He too will visit the Aggies and Cougars alongside Fodje.

Fodje and Newman have talked a lot about playing together at the next level, and Newman mentioned the duo want to get to Norman and see Oklahoma.

Quick hitters on other recruits in attendance:

London Smith, 2026 4-star WR, Waco University

Smith enjoyed his experience in Austin, spending time with Terry Joseph for the most part. Smith left at halftime of the basketball game. He considers Texas and Oregon his top two schools. Smith says he’s actually cousins with Longhorn comeback enrollee Kobe Black.

Jacorey Watson, 4-star WR, Shadow Creek

Watson told Horns247 he’s now looking at Texas differently then before with his close friend and teammate Anthony Williams now committed. Mentioned Texas, LSU, Ole Miss, and Mizzou as current standouts and that he wants to shut it down following official visits in the summer.

Drew Evers, 2026 OT, Flower Mound

Saturday was Evers’ third visit o Austin. He’s the younger brother of Wisconsin quarterback Nick Evers. He loves the coaching staff in Austin. He says that’s what’s keeping him coming back. He noted Sark recruiting character over talent as a big selling point of the program. Evers says everyone is even at this point in his recruitment. Other visits coming up include Texas A&M, SMU, and Baylor.

Riley Pettijohn, 4-star LB, McKinney

The borderline five-star ‘backer loves how down-to-earth new co-DC and linebackers coach Johnny Nansen is. Texas views Pettijohn as a high priority target. Pettijohn loves the direction Texas is going. UT, Florida State, and Texas A&M are the three schools to watch right now. The Longhorns appear to be in a good spot.

Deuce Williams, LB, Shadow Creek — Texas commit

Williams is very happy with Johnny Nansen as the new co-DC and linebacker coach. Nansen visited Shadow Creek on Friday and the two spent time together today. He says Texas’ consistency keeps him locked in with the Longhorns. He’s actively recruiting Cobey Sellers, Jacorey Watson, and Riley Pettijohn to join him.

Kiotti Armstrong, 4-star TE, Jasper

Armstrong missed a large portion of the basketball game today as he was meeting with Jeff Banks if that tells you of the priority the 6-foot-6, 248 pounder is to the Texas staff. Armstrong is super open at this point in the process but this has the feeling of it coming down to Texas, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma. Even though he wasn’t able to meet with Tyanthony Smith today, he spoke about how he views Texas differently then he did before with Smith now in the Longhorns’ program. Armstrong will be in Miami next weekend for a 7on7 tournament and plans on stopping by Coral Gables for a visit while in town.

Kamauryn Morgan, 4-star edge, Red Oak

Texas has maintained the same pitch around the necessity of game changing pass rushers as they transition into the SEC. Morgan got to meet with Sark and highlighted the meeting as his favorite part besides destroying a few wings from Pluckers. I viewed Texas as the leader going into the weekend and still feel just as confident after speaking with him after. Morgan will next see SMU on 27th and Baylor on the 28th.

Dramodd Odoms, 4-star OT, Houston Lamar

Odoms isn’t a traditional body that Texas recruits. He checked in at 271, so he would still need to fill out. He’s likely more of a guard at the next level. The Longhorns are still evaluating Odoms at this juncture. He says a Texas offer would mean a lot. He grew up watching the Longhorns. LSU, Texas A&M, Oregon, and Houston are some schools to watch.

Chad Woodfork, 4-star edge, Summer Creek

Woodfork says the Texas staff preached the importance of speed on the defensive side of the ball. He’s visited the Longhorns quite a bit ever since he was in 8th grade, and says the Longhorns are amongst the teams likely to get an official visit alongside Texas Tech and USC.

Cobey Sellers, 4-star CB, Shadow Creek

Sellers met with Terry Joseph today where the two spent time going over Joseph’s “philosophy on football” but his favorite part happened to be getting to meet Loreal Sarkisian who spoke with Sellers and several other recruits about what life would like at Texas if the Longhorns are the choice. The trio of Georgia, Oklahoma, and Texas continue to set the pace in this one but Texas A&M is slowly creeping in as well. Sellers will be at Oklahoma on the 27th and is working on scheduling a trip to Texas A&M for the 3rd.

Nick Townsend, 4-star ATH/TE, Spring Dekaney

In talking with Townsend following the visit it really felt like Texas hit it out of the park today. It was Townsend’s first time on the Forty Acres and he got to spend a lot of time with Jeff Banks breaking down how Townsend would fit in the Longhorns’ offense that routinely uses two tight ends. Townsend loves the fit in the two tight end system and said Texas is very high on his list but admitted he’s taken barely any visits at this point in the process.

Carterrious Brown, 3-star WR, Arlington Seguin

Brown is likely lower on the recruiting board, but still one Texas is monitoring. He spent time with wide receivers coach Chris Jackson and loves how the UT assistant keeps it real with him. Brown considers Texas in his top five. Others in it include Baylor and Arizona State. The latter two probably are in good shape for Brown as things stand. He noted both as officials he knows he wants to take.

Jerald Mays, IOL, Weiss

Mays liked hearing from the entire staff on Saturday. He spent a little bit of time with offensive line coach Kyle Flood. Texas wants Mays to come back up for a spring practice. No more visits are currently scheduled for Mays at this point. Loves that Texas is right down the road. Says Flood is one of his favorite offensive line coaches.

Demetrius Brisbon, 4-star ATH, Tyler Chapel Hill — SMU commit

Even though he’s a current SMU commit, Brisbon was very adamant about being open minded in his recruitment process. He spoke highly of Blake Gideon and highlighted his conversation with Gideon as one of his favorite parts of the visit. His singular favorite part of the visit was seeing his close friend and teammate Rickey Evans receive his long awaited Texas offer.

*Listed as an ATH by 247Sports, Brisbon plays QB at the high school level but will be a safety in college

Tiki Hola, 2026 4-star DL, Bastrop

Hola and his father hit it off with newly hired linebackers coach Johnny Nansen as the two sides bonded over sharing Polynesian roots. Hola said he feels confident that Texas will make an impactful hire at the open D-Line coaching position after getting to meet with Sark one-on-one today. (No they didn’t tell Hola who it is.) While it’s still early for Hola in his process, Texas continues to be the school with the most buzz around them.

Will Griffin, 2026 4-star QB, Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit

Griffin said he expected a lot from the Longhorns and they showed him that and “much more.” Griffin sat in on a 45-minute presentation with Sark and QB coach AJ Milwee on how they go about practicing, games. etc. Griffin loves the schedule and how Texas attacks the offseason. He didn’t leave with an offer but knows the staff thinks highly of him and he knows it could take time. He’ll be at Texas A&M on Sunday.

John Turntine III , 2026 4-star OL, North Crowley

It was Turntine’s second time on campus and he said it was his favorite due to getting to see more of the campus and the facilities that the Longhorns call home. It’s early in the process for Turntine as he’s still feeling out a lot of the schools reaching out to him but said that Texas, Oklahoma, and Miami are the three schools currently at the front of his recruitment. Turntine is working on setting up a visit to SMU for next weekend.

Wesley Yarbrough, 2025 RB, Crosby

Yarborough doesn’t have an offer from the Longhorns, but Steve Sarkisian and Tashard Choice’s message to him was to keep working and keep his phone on. He plans to head to Athens and visit Georgia on February 3rd, and says he’ll narrow down his list in June but plans to return to the Forty Acres.

Jackson Christian, 3-star IOL, Port Neches-Groves

The Longhorns continue to seemingly set the bar in this one. Christian has really only been to Texas at this point in his recruitment. He still wants to see more schools, but UT offering early before others got in on him is a big deal in his mind. He considers Texas one of his top options. Christian may visit TCU next week. He plans to visit Texas A&M coming up soon. The Crystal Ball favors Texas and that’s where I would project 6-foot-5, 309-pounder at this point, too.

Tradarian Ball, RB, Texas High

Ball enjoyed being around Tashard Choice today, who he says is one of the best coaches in the game right now. The message from the staff was that if you want to come to Texas, “you’re gonna have to be an animal, you’re gonna have to be a dog, and more important than that, you’re gonna graduate and they’ll get you to the NFL.” Ball will be in Coral Gables visiting Miami on Jan. 27th, and probably Texas A&M on February 3rd.

Elijah Barnes, 4-star LB, Dallas Skyline

Even though Barnes technically met Johnny Nansen for the first time a few days ago when Nansen stopped by Skyline, Barnes said he really felt like he truly met Nansen today after the two had a long sit-down conversation that covered everything from defensive scheme to personal things. Barnes also spent time meeting with Steve Sarkisian but highlighted a meeting with David Gbenda as his second favorite part of the day behind his meeting with Nansen. Next up on Barnes’ schedule will be a visit to Texas A&M on the 27th.

Floyd Guidry, 3-star DL, Spring

No Bo Davis, no problem. Guidry still considers Texas his favorite, and the Longhorns may have cemented themselves even more on top of his recruitment after today. The staff also won his mom over, which is a big plus. LSU may be the top competition. A decision is likely coming in the next month or two.

Gavin Nix, 4-star LB, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy

Nix spent a good amount of time with Jordon Johnson-Rubell and Jerrick Gibson on Saturday. They showed him around the campus. He says that was his favorite part. Texas sees him as a Will linebacker. He says he loves Johnny Nansen. They spent 30 minute together talking. Nix plans to narrow his list after the spring and make a decision before the start of the season. Miami and Florida State are the next visits on the docket.

Javian Osborne, 2026 RB, Forney

Osborne raves about Tashard Choice’s positive energy, and that it played a role in what decisions to make early on in recruitment. Osborne says he might head to Baylor next weeks, and potentially Tennessee the week after.

Ethan "Boobie" Feaster, 2027 WR, DeSoto

Feaster’s only a freshman but he got plenty of love from the staff today, cinlduign Sark and Chris Jackson. He visited Texas for the Texas and Wyoming game this past season. He says the staff is always showing him love and that’s what has him coming back. They’re a top option for Feaster right now. Again, it’s early.

KJ Edwards, 2026 4-star RB, Carthage

Edwards spoke highly of the history of the Texas running back room and the current state it is in moving forward. Edwards’ favorite part of the visit was meeting with Tashard Choice where Choice broke down Edwards’ game and told the four-star what he’d like to see Edwards improve on. As far as visits going forward, Edwards will see Baylor, Georgia, and SMU over the next few weeks.
