If my daughter wasn’t at Oregon, I’d be rooting for Tech. Here’s a view from her seat in the press box working the James Madison game.

My conspiracy theory is fuck the SEC.

You folks thinking the objective is to join you completely miss the mark on assessing Tech mindset.

We don't have to be with you or 'belong,' that shit's for the idiots in Brazos County.

The same tech who put up billboards in Austin demanding UT keep playing them?

The same tech who tried to railroad the move of Texas to the SEC? That’s the tech who doesn’t have to be in the same conference as Texas?

Did you forget the same one that used political blackmail to ride our coattails into the B12?

This Abilene boy who had the temerity to matriculate to the beautiful University of Texas at Austin instead of that shithole in Lubbock has an unnatural hatred for all things Tech. Fuck their school, their teams, and their fans.

The Big XII started in 1996. Surely all opinions are the same now.

Texas has been gone for 2 years, give or take.  Good for them.

Not gonna dispute your retorts, because they were true enough for some for them to have happened. It's an embarrassment, to be honest.

There is still an element in our fanbase that don't give a fuck.  And some of us never have or will do the horns down.  Be who the fuck you are. Keep strivin every day.  That's the very fiber of people insane enough to settle, eek out a living, and dare to prosper in West Texas.  Not everyone wants to be there, and that's cool too.

I don’t hate Tech. Them clowning on aggy brings me joy. But that’s about as far as it goes - I’m not rooting for them in the CFP. I’m hoping for an IU win or UO as a secondary.

Agreed. They're an in-state recruiting competitor. I'll be hoping for an Oregon win, but I think this will be the best game in the first two rounds.

Definitely want to attend a game at Autzen eventually. Also have a friend who played OL for the Ducks in the late 80's/ early 90's.

I made it to a game there 3 years ago. Definitely worth the trip.

You eke out a living.  Your wife screams eek when she sees a mouse.

I don't think I've been this excited to see tech play a quality opponent since '08 (us). Oregon vs tech is going to be a really solid game. Oregon is fast af, so I'm curious hi tech will handle that. Their OL is really good, too. I'm not too familiar with their defense, so it could be a high scoring game, which I would prefer.

Regardless, Jan 1 cannot get here soon enough.

Also, Ohio State is going to do bad, bad things to Miami. Miami is in deep shit.

Indiana gonna whip Bama's ass and move on.

I still predict Georgia/Indiana in the title game, but I have no idea who will win. I'm pulling for Indiana just so we can finally have a team that no one knew existed before last season win it all. If they do, they should build a statue for Cignetti, because no one else was willing to take the job and turn it around in one year.

My conspiracy theory is they are trying to show they can compete with the big boys and are trying to get an SEC invite if the SEC and Big break off.

It’s not a conspiracy theory. We very much are trying to position ourselves to have a seat at the table when the next round of realignment occurs.

My only correction to your post is it’s not necessarily for an SEC invite. It’s for an invite to whatever the next league looks like. We are all working very hard to get into AAU so that the B1G could also be an option.

Ohio State President Gordon Gee told Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany in an April 20 e-mail that Gee had spoken with University of Texas president Bill Powers.

through a request of university correspondence related to Big Ten expansion proposals.

Gee writes in the e-mail that Powers would welcome a call to say they have a “Tech” problem.

Texas Tech is one of Texas’ rivals in the Big 12 conference. Ohio State officials declined to explain the meaning of a “Tech” problem.

The Big Ten is undertaking an 18-month study of expansion.

That's dope. I remember my days working in the Tech press box. We had a great time and that was long before they built all the cool stuff.

Yeah, I also really want to go, and need to get my act together soon because my daughter is a sophomore, so I have one, maybe two football seasons left (she might graduate a year early) to take in a father-daughter UO game in Eugene.

We had a home and home with Oregon but the game in Eugene got canceled for a number of reasons. I believe they're still intending to round out the home and home by 2029 or 2030, I hope I can make it up there.

It's not really a conspiracy theory. Obviously, above all they just want to compete and win but we'd be foolish not to try and put ourselves in a strong bargaining position when re-alignment inevitably happens again. Anyone with the means and motivation would be doing the same.

B1G (18) and SEC (16) are probably already looking at too many member for a potential mega merger, assuming a 32 member “league” like the NFL. So hope for 36 or be prepared to be part of the other league (BIG12 (16) and ACC (18)) when the music stops. Or pray for ultimate chaos and a complete collapse of the conferences as we know them
