Oh, the Mooch went after her? Damn, Liz can't catch a break.

You understand the audiences he’s talking to on Bill Maher and CNN are mostly educated liberals.

CNN and MSNBC are loaded to the brim with never-trump republicans like Frum, Mooch, Rubin, Skykes, Will, Kristol, Bedbug, Scarborough,  Hewitt, Deutche, Rick Wilson...I could go on but they all bash Bernie and Warren any chance they get and their audiences are Democratic voters.

once it becomes clear that she's going to be the nominee, he'll spend the next 10 months trying to get her disapproval rating into the 50's.  that's his entire playbook, and he's basically said as much.

he's gonna need a lot more than "pocahontas" or "socialism" to make a dent.

he's fucked.

Guess what, educated liberals don't take the "Mooch" seriously.

It's funny to see you lump Bernie and Warren together as if they've equally been bashed. Bernie takes the vast majority of shit, which has smartly been a part of Warren's strategy.

they must all be on msnbc around the clock, then.  because i have cnn on mute most of my work day, and i rarely see anyone on this list.  and when i do, they don't go on cnn to bash dem nominees, they try to actually cater to the cnn audience, and give rational explanations to most of the shit coming from the right.  it doesn't work, but that's what they try to do.

i'm happy to be proven wrong with clips though.

CNN is mostly Navarro, Santorum, Kasich

Most on my list are MSNBC.

Both cable news networks are garbage but I can’t stand CNN.

sounds like msnbc isn't your favorite either.

santorum tries very hard to justify the river of shit coming from the right.  kasich is basically a democrat at this point.

like i said, i rarely see/hear anything negative about warren from cnn.

MSNBC would be so much better if they ditched Scarborough, Wallace, and Chuck Todd.

The bottom line is Warren hasn’t been given a free ride by the MSM pundit class.  In fact, I think they’ve exhausted many of the strongest talking points against her to the point of them being baked in.

Moreover, Warren arguably won all three debates so I can see why that might create a perception she’s currently a MSM darling.  However, she kinda earned that by performing well in the debates.

Relatively, she's had a free ride.  She has performed well in the debates. It helps that no candidate or moderator has really challenged her.

I hope you're mentally prepared, Hugo. Because the actual push back is coming.

when we claim that she hasn't really been the target of attacks, that's not saying she hasn't earned her spot as a top 2 (and trajectory that would suggest leader in the near future) candidate.

not sure why you're so hellbent on these two things being connected.

nobody is saying she's rising in the polls simply because folks have avoided coming after her.  she's a very good candidate, which in turn makes her more difficult to come after.  this is a good thing.  if there was something really damaging out there, someone would've found it by now.

I deal with Bernie Bros and Hillary stans on a daily basis.  I was also a Hillary defender in the last election to the point of getting permabanned from tiger dropping because the Trumpkins couldn’t tolerate or comprehend a Hillary advocate.

Bring it on.

Biden is attacked constantly on stage. Harris got nuked by Gabbard. Bernie gets attacked even when he isn't on stage. Pete got smacked by Swalwell. Julian tried to kill Beto. The testiest exchange I can think of involving Warren is her dunking on the loser Delaney and him going "oh golly gosh".

I didn't watch all of the last debate, so maybe I'm missing something.

Weaknesses opponents could attack:
- lying about NA heritage
- being a Republican up through the 90s and only leaving because they were doing capitalism wrong
- giving speeches to the Heritage Foundation
- her working on behalf of DOW chemical to minimize their obligations to breast implant victims
- opposing public spending on gender transitioning
- having basically zero record at all with regard to social justice causes

None of that has even been touched.

Warren is, in my continued estimation, the 2nd best candidate. But the idea that she "earned" 3+ month of almost universally-positive media coverage because she's just so wonderful is completely idiotic.

Now do Bernie’s weaknesses

I thought I was on ignore, Hugo! lol

But oh lord he has so many things that can be exploited to depress turnout and make people either actively dislike him or at least make them ambivalent enough to throw their hands up and stay home.

Bernie's weaknesses:
- OLD AS HELL (might already be dead, evidence is inconclusive) (Warren is also old but pulls it off way better than Bernard or Joe)
- very much hated by powerful people who will work VERY hard to sabotage him and basically any movement he tries to build
- very bad at cultivating a fun personal image that can warm hearts and make people like him for personality-only reasons
- cannot shoot with both hands
- very bad at finding fresh new ways to say the same old things, which makes him speaking important truth repetitive and boring
- loser background (never a success financially, middling academic career) (I actually like this, but the American dream story is different)
- too nice and decorumy (his staff is a different story, but he himself will not dunk on people on a debate stage unless he is heavily provoked)
- "SOCIALIST!"
- visited the USSR as mayor
- has a lake cabin
- hated Ronald Reagan and Reagan's interventionism in South/Central America
- (((ahem)))
- isn't super anti-gun overall

Outside of Bernie, I don't see another candidate that would use this stuff against Warren unless it's a kamikaze mission.

The elephant in the room is Medicare 4 All, and it won't go away until she releases a comprehensive healthcare plan that backs up the "I'm with Bernie" talk.

Magnitsky Act

Deripaska sanctions lifted

Voting along with Rand Paul not to punish Russia for the 2016 election interference.

I think a generalized "Bernie loves Russia" might be a category to fit all this into. But yeah, no other candidate has gone after him for that. It will be hilarious when Trump does, though, because he will do it without any self-awareness and tens of millions will be like, "Hmmm yes good point Donald"

We are inundated with no-hope losers.

[edit]

People kind of already hate Castro for being mean to Joe about Joe having a dying brain, so maybe it would be good if he came out war-whooping at Liz so Liz could try some new approach on dealing with it.

I love how the Berners operate.  They’re more passionate and disciplined with coordinated messaging attacks than Republicans on social media. And unlike the Trumpkins, they can actually read and spell.

Democrats hate the Berners but they’re great practice for going up against the GOP troll machine.

Just for sake of discussion, say Trump resigns or gets removed.  How does it shake up the Dem race?   I would think it would hurt Biden, as his entire campaign is based only around beating Trump.

I think it would be a Hail Mary without a known result.

On the "it might work out" side:  I think the primary D candidates have embraced a leftward movement.  So many centrists simply aren't going to vote for Trump that D's get their support for this election regardless of their position. It's precipitated a leftward movement.  All of the sudden that anti-Trump vote is gone, and the leftward movement seems too drastic and suburban voters go back to the R.

On the "it won't" side: lingering anti-Republican sentiment very very close to the election.  Ford had to deal with that 3 years after he took over.  8 months would be too hard to overcome.

I think Biden might have the most to gain.  He's the traditional D candidate.  Getting Nikki Haley up there and suddenly the left candidate looks crazier.

Biden’s campaign falls apart. Bernie might take a hit because he’s been campaigning on “Bernie beats Trump” but he has a well articulated vision that he can easily pivot to.

Pete and Kamala split the Biden fallout. Warren keeps running the same campaign and steamrolls everyone.

Is it normal for campaigns to buy $10,000,000 in TV ads fourth months out from the first caucus?

Warren’s 3rd quarter fundraising numbers must be a monster.

It seems aggressive, but keeps in line with her spending strategy so far. Which is working out well.

And I agree her 3Q total must be big.
