Franklin

I just watched the first episode, and I think it's entertaining. The show breaks up the drama/intrigue pretty well with moments of humor. So far, it's much better than Apple's other historical drama, Manhunt, which I find kind of tedious with its stilted dialogue and bad acting.

Michael Douglas doin' work. 2nd best Franklin ever. 1st is this guy. 3rd is the historical reenactor that Jim hired for a bachelorette party on the Office to fuck with the bachelorette party. Unfortunately the original Ben Franklin is a distant 4th

I’d put Aaron at 4th, and knock Ben to 5th.

Will watch, but am pretty sure I won't be able to see past Douglas as Douglas.

This is most definitely a problem.

But also this. I stopped watching Manhunt toward the end because the entire cast was awful.

I didn’t think that I would like Michael Douglas as Franklin, but I think he nailed it.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  The toast that Adams made when he Franklin and Jay were celebrating finalizing the terms of the peace treaty with England really struck me.  Those three would be pretty disgusted with what we have done to the country.

To virtue, honesty, education of the people, and the rule of law. We can have no country without them. nor be worthy of one.

I do think Franklin would’ve celebrated….marrying strippers. Jay would’ve been disgusted with the country. Adams would’ve either had a heart attack or moved to Bermuda decades ago.
