Shazam!

A cheerful, fun, unpretentious outing.  It's silly and wistful but not lacking action.  It's not Logan or Deadpool, but an unassuming attempt to look at superheroes with the childlike innocence.  Adults may be a bit bored if you don't like the fare, but it's a good solid movie.   Gets a little too silly at times, but kids will love this.

So, what are the superhero names of the family? In the comics, they were called the Marvel family.

Obviously, not going to be called that.

Spoiler

This version of the Shazam (Marvel) family was more recently introduced in the New 52 by Geoff Johns and right from the comics as they are Billy's foster siblings.  This version of Shazam was basically inspired by the New 52 version's backstory.  There's some funny nerd stuff like 3 of the actors (Brody, Good, and Cotrona) and  having being cast in George Miller's ill fated Justice League: Mortal.

It was a fun throwback to the Raimi superhero movies.

Spoiler

Now that the Marvel family all have powers, does that mean that Billy loses his super speed and lightning fingers? Or does he keep them?

We know Darla has super speed and Eugene has lightning fingers. Does Billy only have all the powers? At the end of the movie, after the whole family Shazams Billy still has strength and flight. Can they all fly?

The movie was great and Levi is the perfect casting choice ... an adult playing what amounts to be, a kid really. He also added a lot of muscle for this, and he swears there's no added bulk in the costume, but you have to think there's some bulk or shaping going on there.
