3-0 Sooners in top 3, ‘bout to be worse. Sorry, Bama.

At this point everyone is just playing for second until Gasso retires

I think OU's hit more hard liners in the past 10 minutes than we have in May.

I'm intrigued by how their recruiting and coaching keep producing such dominant results. Are they always just more talented than everyone else? Don't necessarily seem so, but they do perform under pressure, and Gasso makes the right moves. That home crowd doesn't hurt, naturally, but I think what they keep doing goes way beyond the venue or even NIL budgets. Thoughts?

Coaching, development, home atmosphere

For now, they are UConn under Geno. It wasn’t that Geno fell off for a while, other programs elevated themselves (South Carolina, ND, LSU, Texas, etc)

Other programs need to make the commitments to meet OU where they are

Courtney Lyle ruined that moment with a dumb comment

I hate that bitch on everything but they keep shoving her down our throats.

Someone should overlay Leighann Goodes slide last night with Trae turners from a couple years back.    Would be badass, but I have no skills.

So, who can beat ou? Tech?

Feels like Tech is walking into the bracket champ game without aggy on their side. Liberty/Oregon, South Carolina/UCLA or Arky/Mizzou. Don’t see a huge challenge there

It’s really disheartening to cruise thru most of the season under an illusion that we’re about to take that last big step … fueled in part by a massive OU roster overhaul.  We’re gonna win it!

Then, reality smacks us right between the eyes and we’re back in our place with hardly a whimper along with everyone else.

Crap …

Gasso gets, for the most part, the absolute best players in the country.  Their #1 pitcher is very good, and the back ups are top notch.  When you have that combination and good coaching, they are hard to beat.  I believe Tenn took 2 of 3 from them mainly due to Tennessee’s flame-throwing pitcher.  It takes a really strong pitching performance to beat them.  Beating them once is possible, twice, not likely.

Even GOATs loose their edge, and that's gotta be hard for most of them to take. Saban anyone? Let's hope Patty pulls a MASH/Seinfeld/Beatles soon. She is 62 and surely her dream isn't to live out her days in sunny Norman unless her kid takes over.

Bama was never winning this. OU saw them 3x already in Tuscaloosa. You cannot face OU 6x and expect to win 4x. Let alone 3/5 to force a 6th game

Will take a Herculean effort by someone to beat them…can be done, but not likely.  You’d think they’d get tired if all this winning.

Maybe Bama hits 12 home runs this inning to take the lead….

That pitcher was rather average before, she developed her.   Now she was a top recruit so had potential just never shined before OU.

I will say seems the good thing is Gasso has seemed to suck at identifying pitching recruits, but doesn't matter with the portal.

OU lost to Bama twice back in April, and Bama also lost to Liberty, UCLA, and Ok St, among others.  Of course, Bama was the #16 seed I believe, and with aggy wetting the bed, not many teams out there to challenge them….they could lose just from apathy or boredom!

Nah but seeds 3,4,6,7,8,9 all are 1-1 in supers and 5 was booted. This seemed like the year to reach the mountain top. *edit: how could I not mention the historic #1 seed flop!

Nothing screams Tenn like baby blue.

It's a women's thing at Tennessee:

https://volopedia.lib.utk.edu/entries/lady-vols-blue-on-uniforms/#:~:text=In 1968%2C when Joan Cronan, none offered an orange uniform.

Quote

In 1968, when Joan Cronan became head Lady Vols basketball coach at 23 years old, the Lady Vols did not have any uniforms—they were playing in T-shirts and shorts. Cronan set about to change that. Only a few companies made women’s basketball uniforms, and none offered an orange uniform. She found some uniforms with orange lettering, which was fine for road games, but rules prohibited home teams from wearing white. Cronan had to decide what color the home-game uniforms would be. She liked Carolina (Columbia) Blue. It was available, and it went well with orange lettering. In a few years, there was soon no problem with getting orange uniforms, but a “touch of Columbia blue” has remained.

I don’t get it either, but the lady Vols have always had baby blue in their unis

Never wash those Gata unis in hot bleach water.

My expectations from pre-season to now have gone from "championship or bust" to "just make the final 8 in OKC and avoid 2 and BBQ".

Probably Tennessee so she doesn’t have to answer a bunch of Bahl questions.

Plus they’ve seen Pickens a lot

The way we looked Friday night, I was just hoping we'd get to play today. So I'll be pretty happy if we now just make OKC, even if we then promptly flame out.

This is not how I expected to feel at any point this season. But in retrospect, I clearly gave too little thought to how we'd offset Vivi's loss. I also assumed we'd find some way to backfill the leadership and stats of Dayton, Washington and Czech. We didn't, so here we are. Let's just wring out whatever's left of this season and be better in 2026.

Also the massive backslide by pitching. Pitching wasn’t SEC ready but Mike Knows now

Game 3 in Knoxville tomorrow
