Man, I hate when I get sick or tweak something or go on a long vacation and miss a full week or more of workouts. Feels like the first 2 weeks back in the gym afterwards are just getting back to where you were.

Sack used to always be like "I still do bodyweight exercises hen I'm on vacation"

Mother fucker, I'm on VACATION - I am not going to do an hour of body weight exercises when I should be drunk by the pool or out exploring some European city.  I'd rather just ramp up slowly that first week back at the gym after vacation because my body (and mind) got some rest.

I have more issues after being sick or hurt - being sick, it's physically getting strength back, and hurt, it's mental

Have we talked peptides here for the olds?
Hearing a lot of chatter about BPC157 and sermorelin.

I’ve got a gal that’s talking me up on a muscle and work out recovery one. I’m probably gonna do it, I’m tired of being sore all the time. I’ll find out which one, but she quoted $750 for 3 months.

No, absolutely not. That's up there with the dumbest snake oil shit I've heard all year.

Don't ever talk to that person again.

Fucking hell this is me right now.  Late last week I had a pesky head cold that was all above the neck, so I stuck to my workout schedule no problem.  On Sunday it started to move to my chest and has dropped my energy to about 85%.  Not enough to keep me from work, but I don't want to prolong it or make it worse by working out.  So I'm on my fourth straight day away from the gym.  I know I shouldn't worry about that, but for whatever reason in my 50s I get more anxious if I spend any appreciable time away from the gym.

This or other threads may have touched on this before, but what are your rules of thumb for working out with a cold?

I’ve been riding my bike in my office on one of those stationary bike stands. Wife was in NYC on a work trip and did a taping of a peloton class, decided we needed a peloton, so now I’m day 3 of 20 minute pop punk rides

Assuming you don’t overdo it, I don’t think it would hurt and it may even help.

Good times, ugh…

https://www.consumerreports.org/lead/protein-powders-and-shakes-contain-high-levels-of-lead-a4206364640/

ours is 1 3/4 per day limit to avoid lead beyond CA levels, which are admittedly very stringent. Muscle tech shows no detectable lead, pricier but I think we will switch from optimum nutrition whey protein to muscle tech.

everyone should check their brand out and make a decision.

Even cutting it to a third to get a more standard 20 g protein/serving that's 500 cal.

I was on their website and found diff products with reasonable calorie counts but it was late I might double check. I just need a simple whey product, no sugar no sugar alcohols least amount of processed bullshit. Optimum Nutrition whey powder was mine it’s ok but fuck that I want no lead in my health products.

The consumer reports article I linked has nice visuals by each brand and protect telling you how bad or good it is. Highly recommend a scroll. It’s how I found mine was “okay” and “safe” for 1 3/4 servings per day. Fuck that noise.

For those with any concern about the lead reports, Dymatize is one of the protein powders with a "non-detect" amount of lead.  I've been taking it for years, because it's been known to be one of "cleaner" powders with relatively fewer fillers.

I would but I think it has artificial sweetners. but if that's not a concern, its def higher quality and is recognized in that report.  Muscle tech product appear to have it as well. i really don't like artificial sweetners - their taste or health impact. most protein powders have them, I really don't understand how/why health products put that kinda crap in them.
