Is there any way to estimate how the tariffs have impacted prices on major items? Yesterday I got four new Continental tires and it cost me about $1,700 at Discount Tire after everything. I wonder how much of the cost, if any, was due to the Trump Tax.

I believe the total China tariff is sitting close to 30% right now. Other countries are lower and it’s more than likely your tires came from elsewhere but that doesn’t prevent discount tire from pricing all tires based on the highest tariff. So maybe 400-500 in tariffs.

of course maybe due to competition, discount tire is eating some of those costs or they haven’t applied the highest tariff costs across the board.

its so crazy how the Trump admin is literally bragging how much they’ve taxed US companies via tariffs. And therefore the customers of these companies.

The tariffs are applied to raw materials too.  The US does not grow latex, it is all imported.  All tires that include latex) I think it's all of them, there are synthetic/petroleum sources but I think all tires have at least a blend) have the tax. If they were made offshore then they would be taxed on the final product too.

I bought my new tires in January because of this even though they were made in USA because the latex came from southeast Asia.

We're going to see something out of them next month when they truly realize how fucked a lot more Americans are, in an election year no less.

Evidently, about 35% of the country will put up with literally anything. He could have another televised address where he announces that he is personally raiding the treasury and I don't think he would dip much under that 35%.

i honestly gave up on the 35% that basically created this monster, its the other middle 35% that hare my ire. Like Brisket says, the magas want this misery. The other 35% is one of the many failure points at the end of capitalism. Pay check to pay check, so let the people writing their paycheck take all the power. Rinse and repeat. A tale as old as time.

I think this is pretty indicative of a huge seismic shift in voter sentiment that has occurred over just the past three months. People spend freely when they feel good. They tighten up in times of fear or uncertainty.

If I were the Republicans I'd be concerned about this.

Republicans are cornered. They know with who is in charge they can’t do shit about fuck and they know if they step out they get their asses whipped by the Baboon in Chief. They are cowed.

Which is why I expect that they will continue to dig in and try to cling to power.

I think we'll see more and more of them resigning so as to not face hostile town halls. That can't be fun for anybody.
