Great ending.  That whole record went from being "The Cars," to like Gerry Rafferty/Al Stewart in 1 second.

My aunt had this album and loaned it to my mom when I was about 7 years old.  We had a stereo in the living room and I would get up on Sunday morning and just grab a record and listen to it.  Some things, like Pink Floyd's Ummagumma, a 6 year old just cannot comprehend.  But when I put this one on, I knew I liked it.

The only thing they're lacking is a tuner.  ;)

For those that don't know, Gunhild Carling is a phenomenal Swedish musician who basically plays all the instruments with trombone being her primarily instrument. She tours with Post Modern Jukebox but also has solo shows in Austin every now and then.

I got yer brass right cheer.  Now this grand old Russian pouf, as Monty Python’s Eric Idle once called him, wrote some fine tunes.  What the Buck. as a perennial midfle and high school second chair french horn, I tip my hat to the Buckeye marching band.  I loathe OSU football but I revere that band.  Actually, most B1G marching bands are solid and bring it.  Isn’t Indiana U like music degree Olympus?

One of the coolest experiences I ever had was when I was living in Evanston with a buddy while we did a summer with Cavaliers.  We were in an upstairs duplex, and downstairs lived a couple of gals, one of whom had just graduated from Indiana with a degree in violin performance.

My buddy and I were chillin' one day watching Cubs baseball on TV, waiting to drive to rehearsal, and we heard all of this whooping and hollering downstairs.  We weren't quite sure if it was good or bad, so we rushed down there to see what was going on.

The gal who had just graduated from IU had landed a seat with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.  Holy shit.  That's like getting drafted into the NFL, but more prestigious.  I've never seen so much happiness and relief on a face in my life.
