Who are you quoting? And is this sarcasm?

The timing of what Kirk was saying with when he was shot makes me think that there wasn’t a lot of time spent for sound to travel and then the bullet to travel. No idea if 200 yards is short enough but it seemed like the shooter picked his moment.

Well said. Agreed. Though wish your grammar was better. Good punctuation and grammar never go out of style.

Texas Rangers 2025: Pitching has been fire. Bats not so much.

Yeah. Only 7 pitches with an off day tomorrow. -
I don’t want to be dismissive, but this is a country seeped in political violence; that commits political violence on a near daily basis.
-
this is 100% what’s going to happen. this will be a rallying cry for the right, and they will paint the left as a violent, dangerous, criminal organization. hell, i would be 0% surprised if trump ordered the hit himself just so that he can justify future violence against the “organized crime group” that is the democratic party.
-
Right, right... but how does this compare with the UTSA gameday experience?
-
The evil is all the more egregious when you consider that Charlie Kirk has devoted his public life to building a platform rooted in good faith efforts at civil political discourse. More than almost anyone else in America, whether on the right or the left, he has sought to model reasoned debate in the public square. His entire project has been centered on bridging the divide, engaging with those who disagree, and relying on the power of speech rather than the threat of violence to confront the issues that tear at our nation. To attack or undermine a man who has consistently chosen dialogue over destruction and persuasion over coercion is not simply a wrong against him personally. It is a rejection of the very principles that make a free society possible. Crazy. Sad.

Dude, this genie has been out of the bottle. Have you already forgotten the June shooting of Minnesota representative Melissa Hortman and her husband? People like Charlie Kirk have used their online presence to incite hatred and increase the likelihood of these things happening.

Says the radical idiot.

i have zero condolences, thoughts, or prayers. gun violence is deplorable, but this man spent his adult life fomenting hatred and violence, and he is absolutely (at least partially) responsible for his own assassination. i opened up twitter as soon as i heard the news and i saw nothing but high profile left wing politicians and personalities condemning this assassination, and all thoughtless gun and political violence. funny, i’ve never seen the right wing folks react that way any of the dozens of notable times when political violence has been inflicted on the left. today they will cry foul and will wholly condemn anyone who celebrates this killing, as if they and theirs haven’t been reacting with glee whenever left wing figures are attacked with hammers or shot down in their own homes. that’s why they will get zero sympathy, zero condolences, and zero sadness from me. these people have been fomenting this violent climate for years, and celebrating when it was the other side getting killed. i would never feel sorry for a member of hitler’s gestapo being shot and killed, and i am not sorry, or sad, or offering my condolences for a member of trump’s propaganda machine paying the ultimate price for his own actions.

2024 Texas GameDay Stadium Experience Thread
SydneyCarton replied to TrashMaster G's topic in Football
This is a relatively fair post. I mean, if you want to be an old man shaking his fists at clouds, by all means, this site and this country and this planet are full of them. At least you acknowledge that it had a purpose, which was to bring money and facilities into the program that the team needs to be successful. That's more than some people acknowledge. For what it's worth, there were literally architectural reasons that the bowl couldn't be closed completely and that technically the SEZ is not connected to the rest of the stadium. Closing in the bowl, in no world, was ever an option. You could have tried to match the look and feel, sure, I guess. But that doesn't raise any kind of special money needed for the actual facilities and team resources aspect that was truly the goal of the whole project. It's just more bowl seating. And additionally, for what it's worth, UT's campus is not that big and it's surrounded by a pretty big city. There just aren't a lot of spaces where we can put things when we want to expand. When we have the football indoor facility that is being built now, we'll have a centrally located area of campus that will treat and handle all of our student athletes needs. That wasn't easy to pull off. Sometimes you have to make do with what you have, and I think we've done a pretty decent job of checking all the boxes, whether you hate the Disneyfication or not. I could have done without the longhorn outline, personally. -
It will have 10x the energy that their reaction to child murders had that’s for sure

The Leopards Eating Faces and Unlubed Dildo of Consequences Thread

It should go without saying that there's no such thing as God-given rights. -
Yea, I don't see this going particularly well for any of us. If Trump sent the National Guard to DC because Big Balls got a bloody nose, what's his response to this going to be? Not to mention the crazies, and the retaliation to the retaliation, and so on. As others mentioned on the Kirk thread, Trump didn't get seriously injured and the Minnesota pols were not well known prior to their assassinations. Kirk clearly has a huge following of young men who feel disadvantaged in a culture obsessed with guns. I can really see this event cranking things up to 11.
-
Yep. This would not surprise me.

Going to be interesting to learn the motive on this one (if we ever do). If it was from 200 yards, the shooter possessed the skills to target just about anyone. Even in the political podcast world, he's a pretty niche name.

The last, of the classic cast, to go.

On a day like today, you learn a lot about people.
