Charlie Kirk Assassinated [Shooter remains at large]
Laguna replied to Laguna's topic in Daily Texan
My son is a junior in HS. Just got home from band. He said they had big discussion in his 7th period. Kids mostly quiet. Talking about the importance of free speech and how wrong it is to harm someone because you don't like their beliefs. I was glad to hear it. Wasn't glad to hear there were kids watching the video so he had seen it. As far as Charlie Kirk’s reach goes, he said every kid knew his was whether they, or their parents, agreed with him. Get the feeling this will be one of those teen moments for him that we all have that we’ll never forget. -
Nope. Hadn't read it. Only thing I'd seen was a summary of a video message he had published in which he professed to be grief-stricken and outraged. Got a link to whatever you're referring to? Like I wrote earlier, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Dear Orange Leader attempts to make political capital out of this. That's the kind of morally bankrupt scumbag he is.

It doesn't. It would be nice if we solved the gun problem to such a point that there was no look over there, "BUT the gangs", Instead many won't admit it is a much larger problem and just whatabout this and whatabout that to keep any real progress from being made. It should actually be some of these people's wet dreams for it to really ONLY be the gangs....considering who generally is in gangs. The hard core pipe hitting truth is that both Charlie Kirk and Melissa Hortman were victims of America as we know it. Take it away Donald....

No, what I said was, there's no consensus on what constitutes a "mass shooting" or even use of that term among reporters. Some include gang violence, some don't, some require 4+ victims, some only 3+. That site I linked uses the definition I mentioned, and this governmental report synthesizes that data as follows: The research examined an era of marked increase in the number and deadly effect of mass shootings in the United States. To summarize that trend: The project spanned mass shootings over more than 50 years, yet 20% of the 167 mass shootings in that period occurred in the last five years of the study period. More than half occurred after 2000, of which 33% occurred after 2010. The years with the highest number of mass shootings were 2018, with nine, and 1999 and 2017, each with seven. Sixteen of the 20 deadliest mass shootings in modern history (i.e., from 1966 through 2019), occurred between 1999 and 2019, and eight of those sixteen occurred between 2014 and 2019. The death toll has risen sharply, particularly in the last decade. In the 1970s, mass shootings claimed an average of eight lives per year. From 2010 to 2019, the end of the study period, the average was up to 51 deaths per year.

That's not how those vests work, and if they were shooting center mass, any number of factors could have caused them to hit his neck. -

Level 3 armor(rated to stop rifle rounds is pretty noticeable and heavy as hell, lower grade armor wouldn’t of touched it. -
