  1. If there were ever a video that needed a Wilhelm scream.
  2. Maybe you have dissociative identity disorder, but neither of you are aware.
  3. Yep. Western Coachwhip. I love figs.
  4. Troubadour Festival is on May 18th. I would love to go, but its in College Station.
  5. Because he's good at it.
  6. Saw it this evening in IMax. I really like it.
  7. There is an easy, yet painful, stretch you can do anytime. I tried to explain it to @troph once, but it's hard to put into words. So I'll add a picture. Start with your bad Achilles calf resting on top of your other knee. With you calf pressed into your other knee, point your toes up and down 5 times. Then rotate your foot around in circles 5 times each direction. Move a couple inches to another location on your calf and repeat. Keep repeating until you have covered the entire calf. Make sure you get both inside and outside of your calf.
  8. Back in my running days, I had ongoing Achilles tendonitis. I found that calf stretching was the key to recovery and prevention. I went to a place to get deep tissue massage that used myofascial release. It hurt like hell, but worked well. Eventually, I learned ways to stretch my calf on my own to keep it from reoccurring. Trigger point and night splints are both helpful. Sleeping can continue to exacerbate the condition because most people sleep with their feet pointed (think lying under the covers on your back) which leads to shortened calf muscles. If you jump out of bed without stretching the calf a little first, your calf will tug on the Achilles tendon and you start the day with pain. Google "trigger point calf stretches" and you can find some videos that explain it better than me.
  9. We were down at Texas State for the baseball game and a family day function. Lunch catered by San Marcos BBQ. I was really impressed, especially for a catered meal. Brisket was moist and seasoned well. Sausage was a perfect - what you would expect from a Luling native who worked in his grandfather's barbecue joint, Chisholm Trail BBQ, as a kid tying sausage rings. Here's a write up from Daniel Vaughn from a year ago - Texas Monthly article. I will have to stop at one of their two restaurants and get a fresh plate of barbecue on a future trip down there.

Yeah. I apologized for what I said about him a few minutes earlier too. ¡VERDE!

    Pretty good first half.
  13. My lovely wife (no pics) just came out of a shoe store that had signs posted everywhere - buy two, get one free. Any guess as to the number of pairs of shoes she came out with? Nope. I'm sure you were wrong. Two pairs of shoes.
  14. I'm not sure when they started this ring ceremony, but it's turned into a pretty big event. Rings spent the night in the lit tower and then some sort of celebration today with the band, cheerleaders, and probably some speechifying.
  15. That's good news, ztejas. I didn't do a 12-step program, but I suspect its best having a sponsor with no previous relationship. My mother was a recovering alcoholic, around 40 years when she passed last year, and she had a lifelong friendship with the sponsor she met at her first AA meeting. One day at a time and the serenity prayer are two very helpful and impactful contemplations.
  16. Just want to say that lifeguarding is not necessarily the easy way. My oldest lifeguarded for one summer and didn't want to do it again. She took it very seriously and didn't like the weight of potentially having to perform life saving measures.
  17. I was last there in July 2022. Got there before 5:00 and was about 65th in line. They started serving at 7:35 and I was eating by 9:00. BTW, here is the thread with all of the info on Texas BBQ Joints.
  18. There are plenty of teams in and around Round Rock. Some are neighborhood specific like the Avery Ranch Redfish some are open at all like the Brushy Creek Marlins.
  19. If Dead Poets Society was released today it would be The Holdovers.
  20. I saw a guy break a table in half just slapping the bone down.
  21. I was quite concerned that the nerd on the other end was going to win yesterday. I audibly cheered when she out wagered him.
  22. I took some human sexuality class in undergrad. One girl asked the teacher if there was anything, heath wise, wrong with swallowing. Classroom looked just like that picture.
