  1. Fucking hell, that made me bust out laughing. The build up before the recorder kicked in was tremendous.
  2. Kinda reads like "If you give a mouse a cookie"

    USMNT 2024

I don’t follow this nearly as closely as most on this thread, which also means I'm not as emotionally invested as others. "Most people" don't make the decisions. Greg just won Nations League by beating our top rival 2-0. I don't believe not making COPA America semis will be seen as a collosal failure to the guys making the decisions. We're not Germany, which means results are somewhere farther down the list of performance metrics than any fan of US Soccer wants. Greg is a company man. The decision makers rehired this clown after everything that went down during and after the World Cup, lukewarm support from players, ex-players, and media, and having parted ways when his contract ended. He's the guy through the WC.

Is there any indication whatsoever that Gregg is at risk to lose his job if he doesn't get a certain result in the tournament? They REHIRED the guy, when they already had a built in solution to move in another direction. Get used to him remaining on the sidelines.
  5. Had one 3 weeks ago. I thought it was quite simple. The prep stuff I had this time was much easier than the large volume I had to drink 7 years ago. Dissolve some stuff in a pint of water. Drink. Then drink another pint of water. Repeat with 2nd dose a few hours later.
  6. We've seriously considered moving to Crested Butte. We have 3 kids aged 7 through 12. We spend at least 2-3 weeks each summer--in 2021 we spent 9 weeks--and usually a week in the winter. Wife doesn't particularly care for the cold, which is a problem, but manageable. We're outdoors people, and CB has it in abundance. The school is quite good and has a surprising number of kids. Amazon delivers and Gunnison is a 30 min drive for just about anything else, which includes a decent grocery store and a Walmart. CB grocery store has been upgraded and is quite nice as well. The thing we can't get over is April-May and Sept-Nov when there is fuckall to do. April and May are muddy as shit with the runoff, and folks we've met that have moved there say the Fall is heavily dependent in weather. Early snows means more limited things to do outside.
  7. You're ashamed to admit you like Cocktail? That is peak Cruise coolness, peak Shue hotness, smokin' hot Kelly Lynch (admittedly terrible actress in this), and Gina Gershon. And as you said it's so damn quotable. Shit, I didn't even mention Bryan Brown, and he's probably the best thing in it. I'm a card carrying member of the Cocktail fan club. Ashamed??
  8. I'm clearly missing something. Your LOL gif is from a movie that was released in 1991? Or is this reply to something above?
  9. UUUU feels like the type of stock where you just set limit orders to buy at $6 and sell at $7.50. Rinse, repeat 2-3x per year.
  10. And then this will be appropriate later
  11. Dude, that's The Donger. He was also on ER for a while.
  12. You missed the part of your story where you did exactly as you were told because she laughed at you and told you to get your fucking shinebox. I added it in.
  13. Oh, you mean like bragging about finishing #2 in a baseball poll the same year they didn't make the College World Series? Best team EVER!
  14. Watched what live? The Super Bowl in the early 90's?
  15. I've watched this a dozen times and it gets better and better. My favorite is how she continues to hold the things after he walks away, as if that's going to somehow make up for the moment 10 seconds ago when she was yapping and not paying attention and his thumbs got crushed.
  16. Pretty interesting NYT "The Daily" podcast about it maybe 2 weeks ago. Free with Amazon Prime
  17. Get in line, dude. I work for AMD. I've made good money selling on the way up, but I sold WAY too much at 30, 50, and 80. My "forever kicking myself moment" was in ~2015 when it dropped below $2. I had 15k shares ready to hit "buy" on, and then convinced myself that not only do I already have enough invested in the company between my job and existing shares, but also that it would be considered insider training since I was well aware of what we were working on for the Zen core and all the products that would come in the next 3 years. I just couldn't pull the trigger. Looking back on it, no one would give a shit about someone buying less than $30k of a stock and selling at a really large profit. And also, who am I kidding, I would have sold those shares a long time ago. NVDA was one I missed out on, but the biggest was Supermicro. That was one that went through problems with bad press from a Bloomberg article about spyware in their servers (not true), and then they had a revenue recognition problem and trading got suspended. This is a company that was growing every quarter for like 20 years. I KNEW nothing would come of it and the stock dropped to $15. Thought about buying 2k shares and I don't remember why I didn't. It's over $700 today. Hell, I meant to buy some at the most recent dip down to $310 and got sidetracked at work. Literally the next day it jumped $90. Then i told myself it would pullback and I'd get some at close to $350. FML.
  18. This is one of the best pulled pork dishes I've ever had. Originally saw it published ~10 years ago and have made it for multiple kids birthday parties when they were young. I did it in a dutch oven on the stove, but I assume in a slow cooker would also work. https://edibleaustin.com/recipes/jack-gilmores-everything-we-need-right-here-carnitas/ Nothing worse than dry balls.
  19. We're having one family over that is interested in watching the game because we don't feel like going to a big party across the street that is more about socializing. Everyone in our family (5 of us) is picking 1 thing to make and they are on the hook to execute (aside from going to the store). My 7 year old son has become quite the guacamole maker, to the point he will randomly start cutting and scooping/smashing an avocado on a Tuesday after school to start making a snack. He does the whole thing himself, down to cutting and squeezing the lime and being very particular about the right salt/pepper ratio. So that's his food. My 9 year old son found a Pepperoni pull apart pizza bread recipe online that looked good. I don't think it's this one, but similar. https://thecookinchicks.com/pull-apart-pizza-bread/ Not sure what the 12 year old boy will make. His specialties are making cookies and frying eggs. I'm guessing he'll go with cookies, or maybe branch out and try something different. I'm going easy and making some tuna poke. We've had plantain chips sitting in the pantry for 2 months, so this will scratch my itch of using an existing item that is just taking up space as well as making something lighter. Wife hasn't completely decided, but my guess is her famous black bean salsa. Black beans, roasted corn, tomatoes, red bell peppers, jalapenos, avocado, lime juice, cilantro, salt/pepper. It's a crowd pleaser. Then I assume on Sunday I'll say "fuck it" and go buy some ribs and whatever else looks good to throw on the various grilling/smoking equipment because it's the damn Super Bowl and leftovers are good. Family we're having over likes to cook and the wife is Korean, so fingers crossed some bulgogi will make an appearance.
  20. Maybe she learned some pool etiquette for next time.
  21. I just googled that course. Looks amazing, and also looks like the definition of "old Scottish golf." Can't wait to hear about it. Also looks like they put 18 flags in the middle of nowhere in a beautiful location and called it a "golf course". How are you getting there?
  22. It's 2024 and they still think calling someone "gay" as an intended insult is: 1) a burn 2) acceptable
