  5. He’s a 16 year old about to start his Junior year in HS. Every big name school and big name coach is kissing his ass begging him to come to their school. I have known him since he was 5. He’s a great kid and his parents are completely grounded. His dad is most interested in education. Tunmise is having fun with the process. Can you blame him? What would you have done at 16? He won’t commit until his senior year. All we have to do is win and he will be here with Jalen. He was vocal in getting schools to look at Jalen and now he’s committed to us. Let the process play out and let the kid enjoy the process. How you can root against a 16 year old because he’s acting like a 16 year old is beyond me. If he commits somewhere else, so be it. He’s a great kid and very humble and I said 2 years ago he would end up here....we shall see.

  6. So Broughton commits, Fillinger commits, Milroe commits, I sign the final amendment on the buyer's agreement that will get me the fuck out of College Station, and now Conner commits. If this week gets any better, I'm going to come home to find my wife on the couch with Scarlett Johansson, saying, "Honey, she wants a threesome." This news does not suck.

  7. Observations are based on last season and a bit of their spring game. I've been working on this in my spare time for a couple of months. The detailed unit breakdowns are not done yet but I wanted to drop this now since surly seems to be getting antsy with peak offseason in effect. ==================================== LSU has some excellent athletes but not much better than Texas overall. Starting with the 2019 recruiting class, LSU was ranked #5, #15, #7 and #2 nationally. The Horns will field the #3, #3, #25 and #7 classes so their talent will be comparable but younger. I have to give LSU the edge here because their upperclassmen are very highly rated and their DEVELOPED talent will be superior. But the SCHEMES are very different and the most relevant comparison of players probably isn’t LSU v Texas but LSU v UGa. From the 30,000 foot view those programs are very similar. LSU’s recruiting is excellent but clearly below Georgia’s (#1, #3, #6 and #6 classes as of the 2019 Sugar Bowl). Both run pretty conservative run-centric offenses with enormous offensive lines. Georgia has more athletic OL and a much better passer at QB; Burrow’s mobility can only partially offset that. The Bulldogs also had REALLY good RBs; LSU is good there but not in the same class. WRs are a wash. I’ll detail these areas in the breakdown of the offense. The bottom line here is that LSU’s offense is much less dangerous than that of UGa. The only area of advantage is the QB’s ability to make some off schedule plays with his feet. We have a fantastic defensive coordinator who majors in shutting down one-dimensional offensive schemes and LSU is a textbook example of that. Their offense is not something to be greatly feared. The defense is really LSU’s calling card. Their DC is outstanding and they can be VERY disruptive at times. While they may have less talent on paper than Georgia, I expect them to do a better job of stopping drives. LSU’s D creates a lot of sacks, TFLs and turnovers. It’s the last that concerns me the most because turnovers and field position can make their pedestrian offense look effective. For example the Tigers scored 36 points on Georgia but they needed a massive win in TO margin (+4) to do it. The defense is very dangerous to LSU’s opponents and somewhat dangerous to themselves as their risk taking also means they give up big plays. That risk-taking and high variance in possible results makes the range of potential outcomes much wider and the most likely result is less predictable than was the case against Georgia’s read and react style of D. If LSU goes +4 in TO margin and doesn’t give up multiple big plays they win going away like they did against UGa. For you stat geeks, I’d characterize LSU as a somewhat lower mean with a significantly higher standard deviation then UGa. If they don’t get big plays from their defense and ST, I expect a comfortable Texas win. If turnovers and the kicking game are fairly even, I expect a close win for the Longhorns. People will say that the Longhorns have not seen this level of talent and technically they’d be right outside of the Sugar Bowl. What those people ignore is that Texas has seen equal or better schemes on the defensive side of the ball from TCU and ISU. The Horns have seen FAR superior schemes on the offensive side of the ball – often executed with near the same level of athletes. But the reverse is far from true. Aranda himself is probably the only DC in the SEC who comes close to Todd Orlando’s level in terms of disguising coverages and blitz packages. And no one in the SEC combines a highly accurate passer with a power spread ground game. For me the bottom line is that LSU is not as good a team as Georgia but they have the potential to be more dangerous because they are more disruptive on defense. Texas dominated UGa because of +2 in turnovers but probably wins a close game in a zero margin scenario. The Horns have a better set up against LSU, especially adding in the home field. This game is Texas’ to win but they need to avoid multiple turnovers (or have the Horn’s defense match them) to make that potential a reality.

  13. I want to update this list from my previous post. Jimbo has yet to win more recruitments in the 4 classes that they have recruited against each other or currently recruiting against each other in. =========================================== Here are the list of players with aggy and Texas offers while both Bilbo Baggins and Herman were coaches at respective schools. Many of these players were also offered and recruited by Jimbo at FSU before he took over at aggy in November/December of 2017 2018: 17-5 in favor of Texas. We absolutely took their souls this cycle Texas- Sterns, Foster, Green, Overshown, Eagles, Cook, Moore, Woodard, Jaimson, Coburn, Ossai, Epps, Ojomo, Ingram, Adeoye, Vaughns, Williams Aggy- Slo'Neal, Preston, Brown, Wright, Jackson 2019- 10-8 in favor of Texas. Still won more head to head for guys both teams offered. Texas- Whittington, T. Johnson, Gbenda, Ro. Johnson, Shepherd, Sweat, Smith, McCoy, Floyd, Watson Aggy- Leal, Green, Cupp, Wright, Williams, Richardson, Mowry, Young 2020- Texas leads 5-4 Texas- Garth, Crawford, Card, JQJ, Broughton Aggy- Demas, Jones, Omeire, Ogunbiyi 2021- Herman spanking that ass 4-0 so far on head to head Texas- Milroe, Quay Davis, Mcree, Hayden Aggy- no one with a Texas offer The made up aggy narrative that Jimbo is out recruiting Herman head to head is laughable. Not only did Herman whip his ass on the field when they coached against each other but he's won more recruitments where both teams had offers from Texas and aggy.

  14. Somehow my wife managed to have her car keys fall in the toilet at the outlet mall in San Marcos. Instead of reaching in and getting them, while her mom was emptying out a plastic bag to put her hand in, the auto flush kicked in and they went away. So, $75 for a tow from the outlet mall to across the highway, $149 for a new key, and 6 hours of my life wasted driving back and forth to San Marcos twice we’re back to normal. Hopefully she doesn’t wait 2 years to get a second key this time.

  15. I have one piece of inside info to share with y'all, though it shouldn't come as a surprise. A new employee in my office from Fort Worth who is friends with the Brockermeyer family says that it is nearly guaranteed that the brothers go to Texas. They have practically made their decision already, and it's just a matter of time before it is announced formally. He puts the odds at 99%.

  19. Long thread on how to defeat Trump. Tim Wise worked to oppose David Duke. "He is a white nationalist. He is an authoritarian. He and his cult are a threat to the future of the nation and world because of their hatreds. His movement betrays the country's promise. THAT is the message that will drive turnout. Not debates over marginal tax rates..."

  20. As a Texas engineering grad in Cypress, I've enjoyed pointing out engineering school rankings to A&M grads about a dozen times so far. Most of them literally struggle to process the information because it's against everything they've been sold in their lives. I mean not upset or angry, just actually confused. All I say is "we're a better engineering school, it's just that we don't brag about ourselves all the time." That's when they start getting angry.

  22. You know what I love about Trumpkins like Zork? 1 allegation from a partisan news source, and they have convicted and completely dismissed, say, Booker. But.....17 women accusing Trump of rape, many with independent corroboration of their allegations at the time they made them, and Trump himself ADMITTING ON TAPE that he grabs women by the pussy.....well, that's all fake news, my friend. That's a glimpse into the mind of a Trumpkin. Look at it -- you don't get to look away in disgust or pity -- look at it. That's what they think like. That's what they are. That's what we're dealing with. An irrational idiocy of unprecedented proportions.

  28. I don’t mean to be highly controversial, but Texas A&M is going to have a mediocre season. They won’t be a contender for a division title, a conference title, or a national title. They won’t make a NY6 bowl. They won’t be a contender next year. They won’t have any momentum at the end of this season that leads anyone to think they will be a contender for a division, conference, or national title next year. They are Texas A&M. They will be Texas A&M tomorrow. They will be Texas A&M during the season, next season, the year after, and for the rest it our lives. They can guarantee their coach any amount of money and they will still be Texas A&M. They are, have been, and will always be, who the are. Which is Texas A&M.

  29. No there’s isn’t, isn’t an argument. And are you saying that a facility located within 3 miles from the Airport doesn’t have transportation? Even if I concede that point, a shuttle service to downtown and back would cost far less than the proposed housing the city council came up with, I’m not opposed to housing homeless in the middle of Austin, I’m opposed to housing drug addicts and mentally unstable people around our community and enabling their current lifestyle. For those that are neither I’d happily support a halfway house situation in busy population centers providing certain requirements are met including drug testing and proof of employment or proof of seeking employment (like most halfway houses have in place). The goal is to help these people end their homelessness and not to enable their current lifestyle.

  32. It is comical watching a rankings change and then some of you start doubting the takes. Majors is a day one C with a mean streak a mile wide. We’re pondering the efficacy of 3 interior OL takes in a class when one is a C? Why? If the program doesn’t face surprising attrition by the end of August, this is going to be a small class. I’ve skeptically relayed that for months, but it looks plausible that this could be 20-21 signees if they leave room for a transfer/GT/late JUCO plug-in. That may impact Lindberg. Maybe he commits soon though. For all we’ve mentioned of Karic, I don’t actually see much activity with him at this time. Could just be a 4 person OL class and then they go hard on 2021 (which they should do either way).
