  1. I'm a financial advisor. I've coached clients for years that there are four things you have to do: 1. Make sure your investments match your risk tolerance. 2. Make sure you're well-diversified. 3. Stay invested all the time. Market timing is a fool's errand in the 21st Century. 4. Keep feeding the piggy bank -- see Dollar Cost Averaging. I still believe all of that. And by that logic, you stay the course and console yourself about the losses with the knowledge that you're picking up more shares while they're on sale for the next few months. But this shit here is absolutely unprecedented. I wouldn't blame anybody if they wanted to move to cash and reevaluate in a month or two. Fun fact: When the VIX gets above 30, that tends to be very bad news for the stock market. It's jumped from 21 to 45 in the last few sessions. So, yeah, I'm not about to give financial advice on the internet. But anybody who tells you they know what's coming next week, in either direction, is 100% full of shit. Let your conscience and your risk tolerance be your guide.
  2. I think there's an even-money chance we'll hit the first one at 7%.
  3. Cooper Flagg is like Larry Bird and Caitlin Clark made a white hooping baby.
  4. Flagg is a beast, god damn.
  5. Houston did well to chip away and get it back down to 6. But it feels like they could lose the second half in pretty much the same way.
  6. Exactly. Plus the fact that an awful lot of Coog fans hate UT and root against us every chance they get. I lived there for many years. Plus, we recruit against them. I see no reason to want these guys to win anything.
  7. Definitely stay alive for the next decade, amigo.
  8. Yeah, I get that. But you also said, "minus the multiple championships," which Texas and Duke both have, so?
  9. So much this. Fuck these Dollar Store Aggy bitches up, Duke.
  10. Y'all are worried about the refs, but don't forget that it is written...
  11. Pretty damned good game here. Don't care who wins, but I'm locked in.
  12. Agreed, and thank you to consumer culture and all of the other shit that contributed as well. But that was an actual crisis, even if it should have been avoided. And it's understandable. Americans bought more home than they could afford, salesmen were greedy and helped people get loans they shouldn't have, banks let that happen, regulators looked the other way, CDO's and CMO's got all fucked up with lower credit tranches than they should have had, so investors were exposed to more risk than they thought, and everybody looked the other way because they were making money or otherwise getting what they wanted. None of that should have happened, but it all makes sense. It's just people being people. This is a crisis created out of thin air, entirely by one man. And it only makes sense if he actually wants to destroy the world economy, or if his narcissism has advanced to the level of a mental disorder that forces him to hurt people to prove his own superiority. And we're completely fucked either way.
  13. It's much simpler than that. 1. Have your hedge fund managers sell out of stocks. Take your profits from the last few years and generate a shitload of cash. 2. Have your hedge fund managers use all that cash to speculate on stock market declines and rising volatility, knowing that you're about to create both in a big way. 3. Profit on the way down while everybody else suffers. 4. When it levels out, eventually, buy a ton of shares at 20-30% reduced prices. 5. Profit some more on the way back up while everybody else slowly gets back to even. 6. Repeat, probably. This is what happens when a bunch of cons and grifters get control of of the biggest economy in the world. It becomes their own personal shell game.
  14. Fareed Zakaria just nailed it. This is the only time in recent memory that we've seen *all* of the markets (including commodities, etc.) lose their shit simultaneously like this other than the beginning of the pandemic and the '08 financial crisis. But in those cases, there was a real crisis. This is an own goal.
  15. Anyone who says, "I didn't vote for this" is admitting that they didn't pay any attention during the entire campaign.
  16. Meanwhile, Trump is using the market chaos as cover while he fires the director of the NSA and other high ranking intelligence officials because, and you can't make this shit up, Laura Loomer advised him to do so. It'll barely make a dent in this week's news cycle. God dammit, they're gonna burn this place to the ground.
  17. They need GROCERIES, you fucking mouthpiece. And CLOTHES. And CARS. And COMPUTERS. This fuckboy acting like life in a fucking favela is all anyone really needs. Cocksucker.
  18. This is what happens when you stupid country ass idiots vote for a brilliant businessman who bankrupted a casino where they print money. I mean, literally all a casino has to do is be open 24 hours a day and be near human beings. And this fatass chunk of shit couldn't keep that going. And y'all voted for him. For the stock market. For the economy. You stupid god damned fools.
  19. Which foreign war would you like us to end? The one in Afghanistan? Wait, someone already did that. Your boy is going to start a war, not end one. Cutting costs? They're gonna raise the debt ceiling after they're done laying off federal employees and replacing them with loyalists, you dipshit. Killing woke BS? You elected a full-blown fascist because you were pissed off that some swimmer who was born with a dick beat some other swimmer who was born without a dick. What state did that even happen in? That's right, you don't know. But you know you won't stand for it, because Tucker and Jesse and White Baby Jesus told you not to. Just stop having thoughts at all. You're a fucking idiot. You and the rest of your monumentally stupid ilk have killed this country while jerking off to Lee Greenwood records and your F-16 posters. Dumb redneck motherfuckers.
  20. Fox News could actually sell this to 40% of this moronic country.
  21. They're going to argue that FDR got 4 terms, and that Trump would still only have 2 consecutive terms. And when push comes to shove, I think the Supreme Court folds and lets it happen. There is still a decent chance that he drops dead before it comes to that. He's 78, obese, and filled with rage. And I'd be willing to bet that every SC Justice is hoping for that so they don't have to make the call. But if they do, I don't think they'll stand up to him. His power by that point will be unlike anything any other president has wielded.
  22. Also, in case anyone missed it, Tesla reported a 13% drop in quarterly sales, so Trump put out a manufactured bullshit story about how he's going to let Elon go from DOGE, which caused TSLA to surge over 5% today, since shareholders tend to like it when a CEO is actually paying attention to the company they own. Nice little buffer before what they knew was coming after market close today. TSLA is now down around 8% on futures, so Trump managed to keep his buddy almost even while torpedoing the rest of the world markets. This is some miraculously sinister shit.
  23. Can "Shart of the Deal" be the tagline for Cloak Room, please?
  24. S&P futures are down close to 4%. It's as if he's literally trying to bankrupt the entire global economy. This is fucking madness.
