  1. Check out the Knox-Henderson area ... https://www.visitdallas.com/neighborhoods/knox-henderson/ Uptown... https://www.visitdallas.com/neighborhoods/uptown/ The Design District is coming alive. https://www.visitdallas.com/neighborhoods/uptown/ If you want to go far north, check out Legacy West. https://www.visitplano.com/guide-to-legacy-west-in-plano-tx/ Any area of town is what you make of it. There will be douchenozzles and cool people everywhere. I lived in the second to the top floor at the Mondrian for a number of years (Uptown). I loved the vibe. Now, am very far North Dallas and love the atmosphere I have found here as well. Life is what you make of it.
  2. Of course not! Don't be absurd! We absolutely should! They have a name for this. It is called ... HYPOCRISY !!!! Duh.
  3. I did lurvs me some Charley Steiner.
  4. DAMN IT SALLY... WHERE ARE THE DAMNED COOKIES AND ORANGE SLICES!!!???
  5. You make him bald and more curmudgeony looking... and yep... that's pretty accurate.
  6. Cantankerous, Out of Touch, Old Man Opinion TIME. (GET OFF MY LAWN YOU DAMN KIDS! CLOUDS... YOU SUCK!) Isn't committing to a school a bit like becoming engaged? You haven't signed your LOI, you have not said, "I DO" so there is still time to bolt. But, if you're engaged, would your fiancee be on board with you going out with other girls/guys/gender fluid, whatever persons? So, this dude verbally commits (which could impact other running backs Texas was looking at), but he is still going to take his official visits to Bama, Georgia and Tennessee? Because? He is not really sold on Texas all the way? Or, he wants to see if those other schools will bid higher for his services? I don't see the point in verbally committing and still taking other visits. Just say you are impressed with Texas, want to carefully weigh all of your options and then definitively decide after all visits. What is the over/under on the number of times this dude decommits, then commits elsewhere, then de-commits, rinse repeat? OK, now back to your regularly scheduled posting. LID OUT.
  7. There are some damned good souls posting on this thread. It doesn't matter how many times you fall ... as long as you pick yourself up one more time than the number of times you fall.
  8. Doesn't Linda Cohn have an extra toe she can lend Sanders?
  9. Isn't the Thanksgiving night game on the NFL network or NBC? So, let the great unwashed, which comprises much of the NFL fandom (love the NFL goon thread), watch whatever game that night and have ESPN roll out Texas - aggy Thanksgiving night. Two completely different audiences. We get back some tradition. aggy gets one of their 1,500,000,000 turditions back. We get a few extra days of rest before we play in the SECSECSEC championship game. What's not to like?
  10. I hope you are taking steps to take care of yourself. It can be such a feeling of helplessness, so desperately wanting to "be there," to want to say the right thing, to do the right thing and all the while, knowing that people must surely go through their own grief. I hope you are checking in with those that help keep you centered.
  11. Thanks Schlong of the Bear. The past two weeks have been incredibly trying and I am still processing if true change is coming... or if it is merely a facade. Will detail in the next day or so when I can articulate clearly. Am grateful for this thread.
  12. We ARE going to chop down tree... Mighty TREE... just like, Monty Python!
  13. Nah... you make up for it with your 85% Asian student population. (No lacist.. no wait.. no racist!!)
  14. 15. It doesn't have to be November. Each year during Cupcake Saturday, a few SECSECSEC teams play conference games. We have September 21 open still after starting Aug 31 at home against Colorado State, Sept. 7 at Meatchicken and Sept 14 at home against UTSA. The following teams have not scheduled Sept. 21 games yet: Nebraska Arizona Arizona State To name just 3. Screw the Candy-Ass Cupcakes. We have only played one FBS team and that one was foisted on us.
  16. And yet, sometimes, on very rare occasions ... that WR screen on the first play of the game is epic.
  17. I can't help but wonder more and more if society today is so horribly caught up in labels. And that it is only through applying labels to everyone that society, particularly those people in society who feel weak and disenfranchised seek some type of certainty that labels may bring. What are your pronouns? Are you straight? Are you gay? Are you bi? Are you non-binary? Are you trans? If so, pre-op trans or transitional trans? WE MUST KNOW. But, the question is rarely asked ... why do we have to know? Is it a need to know if someone is in our tribe? Are you in my tribe? Do you think like me? We have so lost sight of the reality that we are all ... souls. Just souls. Wonderful sentient beings. We all laugh. We all cry. We can all love. We can all try to find the wonder, the joy, the beauty in the simple things in the universe. The ties that bind. I also strongly believe the person who wrote that post, the person who had the strength and courage to pour out your heart is far from done. That your time for wholeness and healing, instead of being over, is in front of you. Waiting for you to start to explore, to start to find it ... but, when the universe is ready for you to find it. Sometimes we must go through the most agonizing of pain before our soul's purpose and path is revealed to us. And if... AND IF.. you only purpose on this plain of existence at this time is to give your two boys a safe, stable foundation upon which their incredible lives can grow ... is there a greater calling than that? Don't your boys get comfort from you? Don't they get love from you? You know the answer to those questions is a resounding YES. And yet, how can they get those incredible qualities from you if those qualities do not exist. I urge you to allow yourself to cry. But, there is such beauty around you. I urge you to embrace it. Do NOT let the pain, the smallness, the inability to recognize their own souls that so many people have ... to drag you down. I urge you to say ... FUCK THE LABELS! You are a soul. You have given life. What a gift to this world.
  18. It has been over one year since this thread was alive... and now. Help Me Obi Wan Kenobe... you're our only hope. I need this ... person's face ... photoshopped on this ... Since I am an "olds" [I typed my law school exams on an IBM Selectric typewriter, precise photoshopping is way out of my wheelhouse. I can throw a little bit of money at someone who is really good.
  19. Missouri was the sissified cuckold for Big 10 expansion. Missouri's then Governor was dripping Big 10 spermatozoa from his lips. https://www.denverpost.com/2009/12/18/gov-says-missouri-should-consider-big-ten/ One of his more... poignant statements: “I’m not going to say anything bad about the Big 12, but when you compare Oklahoma State to Northwestern, when you compare Texas Tech to Wisconsin, I mean, you begin looking at educational possibilities that are worth looking at,” Nixon said in an interview with The Associated Press. “If a significant conference with a long history of academic and athletic excellence talks about you joining them, you shouldn’t just say, ‘We’re from the old Big 8 and I remember when … Missouri's then athletic director, system president and chancellor of one campus got together to plan the collective orgy. https://www.pennlive.com/patriotnewssports/2010/05/if_big_10_conference_calls_mis.html Missouri got used. Missouri got manipulated. Yes, Missouri is receiving more $$$. But at what cost? Missouri is not even an after thought in the SEC. They are a "never even thought about." They are cannon fodder. Alas.... or not.
  20. Didn't you mean to say ... "Night away game against a home team playing one of the biggest names in CFB, what's not to love?"
  21. Now, I am not a trademark attorney but I do know that the owner of a trademark can lose the rights to through abandonment or non-use, or proof of discontinuation with the intent not to resume use. So, I can't help but wonder if dragging the old Oilers colors out is a way to demonstrate that the color scheme and pattern have not been completely abandoned. If so, the Adams family could be doing it not to honor the past, but to preserve their trademarks and their financial value.
  22. Yes, literally. There are only two realistic options for how it could get worse. Option 1: Zero wins. Option 2: The university gives up football and the team is disbanded. So perhaps technically, the statement should have been, "Only two realistic options exist which argue otherwise and except for those two option, it literally cannot get worse." But, this is Surly. Fewer words. More inanities. Carry on.
  23. At times like these, there are no great words of wisdom from others. Sadness, sorrow, grief ... are so individualized. They are unique for each and every one of us. Maybe at this time, because this sadness is so incredibly new, allow yourself to feel the sadness. But a sadness because a person you loved, a person who had such meaning for you, has transitioned on from our existence. Maybe realizing that that sadness is natural, it happens within us all and the fact that Uncle Mike is in a place so beyond our comprehension, is the cause of that sadness. NOT anything you did or did not do. And I truly believe that realizing the true cause of your sadness, acknowledging it, knowing it is part of the human condition. This will allow you to have a greater understanding of the incredible impact he had in your life. That sadness hurts right now. That is the way of life. But, from that pain and sorrow can eventually come love for a life well lived and the impact he had on you and your brother. It may not be time to celebrate his life. But it sounds like some of the best parts of your beloved Uncle Mike live on through you.
