  1. Counting on this lineup to prey on a "tired" Canady is foolish. We will have to scratch our guts out just to get a couple runs, just like we did last night and tonight. We really, really don't match up well against her. Tonight was the night to get it done. We got 3 runs off her. That should have been enough to win, if we're gonna win it.
  2. That's why he's an idiot. You play to win, not fuck around. Now the pressure is all on us. Exactly the spot we don't want to be in.
  3. If we win tomorrow it will be in spite of MW. The dude is so unclutch.
  4. Just terrible coaching across the board IMO.
  5. Yes she can. She's a beast.
  6. VH sux. MW is one stubborn mofo.
  7. our lineup after KS is trash.
  8. VH sux at DP. Should play KC. Working on reverse jinx.
  9. jesus fuck, I can't take the stress.
  10. Pull Mac. Terrible plan.
  11. I would go with TK. No fucking around. There is no tomorrow. Well, there is, but we should not play like it tonight.
  12. KC used to have funny interviews with the team on her TikTok. Then it got hacked and is a lingerie store now. I like to pretend it’s still her.
  13. Maybe she can call her shot and lay bunt down a la Jake Taylor.
  14. Gotta shut the door tonight. I've always felt that winning game 1 and losing game 2 seems worse than the reverse - it's puts all the pressure back on you, and robs momentum. We need a new approach at the plate tonight, hopefully with a better homeplate umpire that doesn't give Canady a bullshit zone. Which of our rotating cast of 8 hole DPs can best lay a fucking bunt down?
  15. This. Should have done that more in game 1. We are not gonna simply gonna go up there and belt a bunch of extra base hits on her.
  16. she's money at adjusting to offspeed.
  17. For those that didn't see it (https://www.ncaapublications.com/p-4683-2024-and-2025-softball-rules-book.aspx): See note 3
  18. it's already in the rulebook, plain as day, as an addendum.
  19. they were wrong. That's not in the softball rulebook (at least that I could find).
  20. if she is thrown, out defensive team has the option to keep the result of the play.
  21. No - with batter interference, batter is out, runner returns to base. The rules discussion on air was a total mess. No one in softball knows the rules of their own sport, even the umpires. Just a total clusterfuck. https://www.ncaapublications.com/p-4683-2024-and-2025-softball-rules-book.aspx 11.20.2 The batter shall not hinder the catcher or any other fielder from catching or throwing the ball by stepping out of the batter’s box, or intentionally hinder a player (for example, on a steal/pickoff throw or a play at home plate) while standing within the batter’s box. EFFECT—Delayed dead ball is signaled. The defensive team shall choose either the result of the play or the batter is out and each base runner must return to the last base that, in the umpire’s judgment, was legally touched at the time of the interference. Exceptions: (1) If a base runner is advancing to home plate and there are fewer than two outs, the base runner, instead of the batter, is out. (2) If the catcher is not making a play on a base runner but the batter or umpire interferes with the catcher’s return throw to the pitcher and the base runner, consequently, advances safely, the umpire should suspend play and return each base runner to the base occupied at the time of the accidental interference.
  22. this. It was clearly batter interference. But the runner would have just returned to 1st, which she did any way because of the ump interference. So a stupid challenge IMO.
  23. Mendoza going on and on about the rule needing to change, but the rulebook is clear. If the runner would have clearly been out, in the judgement of the umpire, no obstruction is called. It's akin to uncatchable on PI in football. The rule is fine. Umps are fucking idiots, as we saw over and over tonight.
  24. Beth Mowens is the worst announcer in sports. Worse than Galindo. Just objectively terrible at her job in all aspects. Also, I hope Mike gets public confirmation from the umps as to exactly why that was obstruction per the rulebook.
  25. One thing I love about baseball/softball is every time I watch a game, there's a quirky or wild moment where I say to myself "well, I've never fuckin seen that before." This game had shit like that in spades.
