  1. My opinion of Meyers has eroded. Which is surprising to me, because I started out thinking he was pretty worthless.
  2. Needs to be our inning right here. Do it.
  3. And finish it. And give up at least another run in between.
  4. Glad I'm not able to watch this one. Sounds rage-worthy already, thanks to some of the usual suspects.
  5. "One of the main takeaways from the matchup was the resurgence of the Longhorns crowd at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, which was the loudest it has been in recent memory. It was so loud in fact that even the Alabama players such as Will Anderson, who consistently faces the loudest environments in the country in the SEC from week to week said it was one of the loudest stadiums they have ever played in. "To be honest, since I've been here these last three years, this is probably the loudest environment I've played in," Anderson said. "Probably the hardest game I've played in since I've been in college football. Their fans were super loud, they had a lot of energy. But the atmosphere was crazy." https://www.si.com/college/texas/.amp/football/longhorns-alabama-crimson-tide-will-anderson-nick-saban-crowd-noise But we don't know what big/loud is and will be so intimidated on the road in the SEC.
  6. Tell me you're not Dusty Baker without telling me you're not Dusty Baker. Seriously, is keeping him on the line all that shocking at this point?
  7. Waiting until the final series of the regular season to play our best lineup will give us a ton of momentum going into spring training.
  8. Mario Mendoza average season: .215/.245/.262, 38 wRC+
  9. It's sort of been done. They called it "Tom Landry."
  10. A worse version of Panama City, if that's possible. Edisto Island, on the other hand, is a mellow, pleasant place.
  11. Yep. Totally forgot about Thursday (and too lazy to look it up, as usual). Just glad to eke out a win today.
  12. When you score just 10 runs in a series and have a depleted pitching staff, even against the A's you're pretty fortunate to win two of three. Get to the airport.
  13. So Oakland's leadoff hitter reached for the fifth time in six frames. Quit letting that happen.
  14. "Let me do the thinking." — El Dusterino
  15. Then it could just as easily go through our current #2.
  16. Have we ever trotted out a worse 7-8-9 batting order? And I'm including the old NL days with pitchers batting.
  17. I mean, he hit it pretty hard, which was encouraging. That said, he's kept finding ways to not deliver this season. Never mind the overall W-L record with Pena batting No. 2. Last October seems flukier with every passing month. If he has it in him to be a steady contributor, let's see it.
  18. Our friends in Arlington might need right-handed relief help. I'll go on record saying I'm OK giving them Stanek for Eovaldi.
  19. Maybe wait a couple years and then put him in the appropriate "portaling to Texas" thread.
  20. I was one of those most disappointed in Tucker's first half. Not that he had bad numbers, but with the shift gone, I had high hopes for a truly monster season. He's obviously kicked it into monster mode since then.
  21. OK, I dug deeper. Definitely moved recently for football reasons. Other college athletes in the family, including his dad at Bama: https://www.dawgnation.com/recruiting/uga_signing_day_2022/daniel-calhoun-georgia-football-recruiting-alabama-football-recruiting-texas-recruiting-tenneseee-football-recruiting/F55Z7K7GIZFCND5GFCXMFHUY7U/
  22. Georgia's Walton HS is roughly equivalent to Austin's Westlake. I have no idea about the Calhoun family's standard of living, but it's curious that the player would shut things down so abruptly (and rudely) over bag money. I tend to think he was pretty much going to UGA regardless, and the bag (containing who really knows how much) just made it easy to get it all over with.
