  1. C'mon these are some hot takes we're getting here. 1. DeSantis* should be POTUS because of the work he's done for EDUCATION.... in FLORIDA. 2. Laws that ban teaching and learning some subjects* are good. 3. Emmy nominated television shows are bad*** because they have aren't the same as the video game they're based on.**** *Remember him? **Keep in mind Poe has failed to explain what that subject actually teaches. ***How could a person know the show is bad if they didn't actually watch it? ****I doubt Poe played the game if this is his opinion of the show, I think he just saw that on some social media reel.
  2. Sounds like some Aggie Corp army cosplay to me.
  3. Oh it's real. Dude has trouble watching one of the best single episodes in television history because two bears smooched.
  4. Poe is the one that fast-forwarded through Last of Us because Ron Swanson kissed another guy.
  5. He's a troll. There's no way to know what his level of intelligence is, because he only gives you troll bullshit. You can give him the benefit of the doubt, if you want.
  6. It's easier to read stats when you take your head out of your ass.
  7. If it's bullshit and we live in a post-racist America, why are Black Americans still overrepresented in the negative aspects of our society and underrepresented in positive aspects of our society? Unless, you think that certain races have some sort of inclination toward these negative aspects. You're not saying that are you? Are you?
  8. ETA: "Why won't liberals on this board take us conservatives seriously?" I really think that's what you think it is. I also think that you think banning that was good governance.
  9. The one where woke died. You know, legislating woke has been super-duper easy and effective.
  10. So what's the verdict on best way to see this movie? Do I need to make the trek to Bob Bullock and see it there, or are the other places going to be "just as good"?
  11. I officially stopped giving all fucks last year. Parents would ask me what I needed, and I told them after 25 years I had most of the things I needed to start the year. It's the things that come up throughout the year (printer cartridges, so I can print maps and graphs in color), so I just said Amazon gift cards. This year I'm asking friends and family to help pay for the subscriptions to online resources I pay for out-of-pocket. Last year that was around $500.
  12. Yeah, that guy has a lack for saying the stupidest thing possible. And Republican voters love him for it.
  13. It's similar to the fear mongering they do when they say that once "liberals" get power, they'll target conservatives. Of course they think it's what "liberals" would do, because that's what they would do.
  14. I appreciate your sentiment, and your concerns about a future of underpaid teachers isn't far off. But to be honest, at this point in my career, I would compromise with funding education enough to pay for adequately staffing a school with special education and bilingual education teachers, not to mention all the auxiliary positions that schools need to function. I can't count how many times the SpEd teacher was pulled from my class (a class that sped students have required minutes with a sped teacher) because they had to cover another class, or how many "aides" I had in my classroom that probably should have been a certified sped teacher. To be honest, I would settle with funding education adequately enough to hire enough teachers to get my class sizes under 30. There is a huge difference between teaching in a room with 30 eleven year-olds and 26 eleven year-olds. Now imagine having 35 eleven year-olds. Yeah. You know what, keep the raise, it's a bandaid. What good is an extra $200/ month if I have to go into a dirty classroom with 35 kids (10 SpEd/5 Spanish speakers/1 Swahili speaker), no ESL teacher and a SpEd teacher that leaves 20 minutes into class?
  15. I think they actually do have a plan. It's just that their plan includes being decent to people born outside America, so it's a dead-at-conception, compete non-starter to the people they need to compromise with. And they're dealing with people that view compromising as losing.
  16. I believe it was the Republicans that killed those, was it not?
  17. You know what would be cheaper... and more effective? Policy. An actual policy that addresses these peoples' needs to get out of their homeland, employers' needs for laborers, and our need to feel good about ourselves for actually doing the right thing. But yeah, some big orange balls, that will... um... yeah.
  18. Was she a great big fat person? ETA: Too slow.
  19. They're still voting R, because it's what Ike would have wanted.
  20. I don't know how true this is. Personally, I've gotten closer to embracing those things than I ever would have if Mitt Romney had gotten the Republican nomination in 2016. I also have a son that is going to vote in the next presidential election. He's never known me as the middle-of-road conservative voter. His political awareness has only been me and his mom (who never said boo about politics) taking against the GQP... talk about indoctrination.
