  1. Co-sign. Bolt Thrower always delivers. Whenever it comes up in my rotation, it inevitably leads to volume going up.
  2. Thanks to Steamboat1874 for this idea. On the Cool Pictures of Music Icons thread, he said he would've really liked to see what Buddy Holly would've done with his music had he not died in that tragic plane crash. Got me thinking. So many musicians seemed primed to make a really great turn towards a new sound, but for being killed or dying before they got there. Hendrix was experimenting with all sorts of sounds. John Lennon finally seemed to be at peace with his inner demons. Kurt Cobain was writing mellower, more introspective stuff. Bon Scott was at the top of his game. As big of a Beatles honk as I am, the answer for me is SRV. That stuff he was putting out circa In Step after getting sober -- Tightrope, Life by the Drop, Riviera Paradise -- that was signaling a very cool new direction and I really would've loved to see what he created after that. Goddammit.
  3. Thanks for the new thread idea.
  4. and that's fair
  5. yeah even though it's gonna be short sets with partial lineups, bad vocals, etc...still, probably the greatest metal concert of all time.
  6. The list of idiotic women thinking that they truly understand their incarcerated lover in a way the rest of society can't is a very, very long one. I worked in a maximum security prison and believe me, there were no shortage of letters and love requests from outside admirers to the morally vacant ingrates that inhabited that place.
  7. "They can talk, but they can't curse. It's the anti-tourette's syndrome of the apes."
  8. Our WBB team is so badass.
  9. Got our Kylie Minogue tickets -- she's still sexy af and her last two albums have been a fantastic resurgence. Can't wait.
  10. Texas' trajectory and momentum is pretty remarkable lately. NIL has been huge (thanks again to all those here involved with that effort), coaching stability has been strong, and the portal and draft have been friendly to us. We have had lots of guys that could easily leave wind up staying (J Whitt, Taaffe, Arch), and the same is true of coaches. Hell of a ride lately.
  11. Single setting. I have to take a breath and rest a bit after 30-40, but I just keep at it until they are done. I'm sure you know by now that some days are easier than others, for whatever reason.
  12. Yeah I'm realizing I need a rest day every so often as well. My shoulder is not super happy lately. I have been doing 55 per day but I think I'll bump it up to 62 or 63 so I can take one day off per week without getting off track. I think I started at a different baseline than Imma -- these pushups are more maintenance than strength building for me -- but I still need to rest every so often.
  13. Well had I known that existed, I might not have gone to the trouble! Definitely could've started with that... BUT I do think that having my book be spiral bound helps a lot when playing. Also, the fact that most of the songs in my book span just two pages makes it way easier to read and play. The book you referenced certainly looks more complete, but I don't need all of the extra notations at this point. Plus I do think there was value for me in really taking the time to pore through things and write them down by hand -- part of my learning process I suppose. Maybe not necessary for others, but I needed the time it took to transcribe, etc to really process the different things I was learning and playing. Still, that's a cool resource book I didn't know existed, and it's now on my Christmas list, so thanks!
  14. I sweatergod, Surly is amazing. In a thread about Arch, the convo strangely turns to sausage and then within minutes Abe Froman (the sausage king of Chicago) brings in some insider intel from one of the great voice mails of all time. Just incredible. Well done, gents.
  15. Yeah I posted a while back I liked the idea so I'm doing it as well. I work best when I have these tangible daily / weekly goals, so this works really well for me.
  16. I have no problem with that. Not surprising, but justified. It's a badass song and performance.
  17. I finished the project over the weekend. Got the whole songbook cobbled together with bunches of tabbed solos, riffs, and instrumentation. Gotta say it feels pretty good to have that project tackled. Gil - AYBCS is a freaking blast to play, BTW. Either guitar. It takes me several takes and mistakes to eventually get into the rhythm well enough to do a half-decent job at it, but man it's such a great guitar song.
  18. Not too many ukuleles in Honolulu 😉 Good idea. Something makes sense on the Uke given the chord progression and how easily it is played on the uke. George was a big fan of Hawaii and wrote several songs about it -- seemed to fit his personality pretty well.
  19. on it mwaaah mwaeeer mwwmwwaaahhhmwooo mmm myaaa myaaa that should just about do it
  20. Yeah, I love that show. A lot of it goes over my head, but I still love hearing how the songs got developed over time with different takes, tempos, instruments, ideas, etc.
