  1. Y'all pretty much covered all the angles of the fight tactics so that's all good. But I'm glad to see the compubox for round 2, some friends were trying to convince me Loma "definitely" took that round even though I wasn't convinced. It was just better than his shit 1st round bc he didn't do a damned thing. I was mostly just impressed because did never seen anybody almost as quick as Loma. Fimo was slipping and countering a bit in there and Loma was frustrated for it. The body work paid HUGE dividends too. By round 11 Loma was visibly reacting to those body shots. I hate when announcers don't pay attention to body language after body shots, it's one of my favorite parts of boxing. He was doubling over and/or stepping back to reset and catch his breath.
  2. Checking in. I'm excited as well. I'd take Loma with a typical mayweather style decision win. Makes it interesting I'm the first half, opponent gets tired, runaway with 2nd half..... But damn Teofimo got that power and some speed to boot.
  3. I don't understand the "solidify the left side of the line and let everything else be damned" coaching technique at all. We've had this issue before, with Connor Williams most recently, and I dont understand not spreading out the talent so that maybe we can have some multi-directional offense that can run to both sides. I think Vahe was Connors LG, and they were good, but unfortunately I think Angilai is going to be exactly what Vahe was, good enough to be a multi-year starter at UT, but not good enough to be drafted in the first 5-6 rounds. Unless he has a hell of a senior year, but dudes don't wait til year 4-5 to learn how to pass block (regardless of Hands stance on Okafor).
  4. There's probably 15 slapdicks on that watch list
  5. Halftime shows are boring, I agree, but that's in general. The band marching down San Jac before the game? I'm down. That shit hypes me up. Sitting behind the band at TX-OU 2 years ago? I actually enjoyed it, hearing our band play Our fight song after picking off Kyler Murray and scoring a TD? That shit was tight as fuck. My favorite part of the highlights was seeing the band go crazy as Sam punched touchdowns in and flashed the HookEm. If we ever make it to a national championship again, you're God-damned right I want the band announcing our fucking presence in a March to the stadium. TL;DR: Kiss my ass.
  6. I'll have some positive memories of sam when he leaves, and I'll be glad he was part of our program, but the next deep ball Sam puts air under will be the first. This year he's underthrown go routes about 6 times in 3 games. You think defenses don't notice that?
  7. And then they never mentioned it again. Maybe they realized how stupid it was. Finished Season 2, was generally satisfied, the last episode was so stupid, and silly, and over the top, but it was also kinda badass. They're teenagers, they're not gonna be martial arts experts, but damn they had these kids throwing each other around like it was bloodsport. Overall, season 2 definitely felt weird, I looked up if they changed writers but apparently not. There was too many moments where it felt like a Netflix sitcom reboot, like Fuller House. After school special life lessons until they finally sprinkle in some Johnny humor or 80s nostalgia (the good shit).
  8. There's not much to sue. I don't think many of the accusations were necessarily of anything illegal, mayyyybe one of them. They were of him repeatedly hitting up teenagers (in some cases 17, where legal) while he was in his early-to-mid 30s. But as I said insinuated upthread, legality isn't the issue.
  9. Had no idea they stopped doing this. Up until a few years ago my go-to meal was a Chicken fajita Cabana Bowl with a carne guisada taco. I unfortunately saw them pour it out of a bag once (not sure what I expected, it was just weird to see), but it always had a good consistency and flavor, really in the South Texas style. For some reason I haven't gone in a couple years now, and not sure if I'll ever be back. Without carne guisada and/or enchiladas it's just a fast-food taco spot where the "premium" item would be fajita I guess. It seems like everything they do could be done twice as good by a Taco Palenque.
  10. Aw man, it will definitely take a year off my life, but my next cheat meal will definitely be a Chicken salad sandwich (the one they use a dinner roll for), fried okra, a corny dog and a sweet tea. mmmm-MMMMHH!
  11. Haven't joined this thread because I figured y'all'd be talking about fancier shit than I imbibe, but the past couple pages are still up my alley. Think I might take a drive out to Blanco this weekend to pick up a 6er and a couple of the cheap crowlers from Real Ale. The scenery is excuse enough to get out of the house, but the brewery might be my favorite right now.
  12. The price in most bars/restaurants isn't much better. $7-8 easy around Austin, might've had it at one place for $5, maybe Liberty on the east side. Indeed a great beer however.
  13. I wonder what the nit-pick would've been if he had single-handedly cancelled all NBA games the day after the shooting. Y'all would probably say he's an idiot because he reacted quickly without a plan. Or that he did it in front of a camera (with his huge visibility) so he's really just doing it for himself and "needs to be the face" and should step back. There's a built in complaint for any action he takes, or could've taken, and damn y'all will find the fuck out of it.
  14. And while we're at it (talking about how good The Leftovers is), Watchmen was pretty damn good itself. I'm in for this, maybe tonight.
  15. Ready for the impossible tonight. Want Deni. We got a 1 and 2 to roll with for the next 3-4 years at least. Deni can play 3, and "active on defense" sounds lightyears better than what DeMar gives us at the 2/3, so I'm ready. My body is ready.
  16. I'm not sure that it's about Kerstetter being better at Tackle than Center, I would guess that it's about tackle being more important to shore up than Center. You absolutely need a center to deliver the ball and hopefully set the line before each play (make calls), but it's for naught if you can't set and protect the edge. If Majors can snap well and at least hold his own at C, and Kerstetter is that much better at RT than Okafor (who has had 5 seasons to develop into a starting RT), then I trust Hand to make that call. Majors will have two extremely smart tackles and a returning Angilau to help him set the line and make calls. But at the same time, FCB, probably not happening.
  17. Finish off the #1 QB, RB and WR in the state for 2022 and let Carrington drop the #WRTS to start the Texas-bred revolution we've been waiting for.
  18. Hayden's highlight clips really baffle me. Not for him, but because I can't tell for the life of me why Foster would be ranked so much higher than him. One shows a nasty streak, and a want to actually get off the ball and hit people, the other shows a classic "I'm fat so I can grab this guy and fling him" OL mold. How?
  19. With all respect to Mr. Washington, nobody is going to make his son leave Austin if he's not playing football this fall. He has a full scholarship to the University of Texas, not to Tom Herman's locker room. I didn't necessarily grow up in the "war zone" that is St. Louis, but I am pretty fucking sure that living the broke college student life is 10x better than it. Not sure why these parents would "make" their kids come home when they have a world-class university they could be attending instead.
  20. Need a star indeed. We have tons of pieces, but a go-to guy in the 4th is most important. White is the only young guy that has the makeup, but I'm not sure that he's that guy. He can create for himself, but not as easily as DD. He creates for others better than DeRozan does, and obvs is better off the ball, but we need a guy that can go get that last shot. I'm also not sold on Jakob. He's ok at the 5, but will either need another big to help him out down low (a 4), or will need to be a matchup/bench player. He works hard, but in the bubble he's appeared pretty weak in the paint at both rebounding and obviously also finishing at the rim. He refuses to be aggressive in his finishing and it literally partially cost us a game last week. We have 4 young guys that have shown no reluctance to take the ball to the rim, and we'll be missing a lot of points if we don't get them a guy that can finish in traffic when they collapse defenses. We've already seen it.
  21. Watch, somehow, with our luck, on February 22nd, the 1st day of practice before our Spring season, "Jordan Whittington has been held out of full practice today as a limited participant. He is still recovering from his 3 hamstring surgeries but is hoping to be cleared to resume full practice next week".
  22. Now there's UT assistant coaches and parents tweeting this nonsense like UT is kicking them off campus if they aren't playing football. Nobody said anything about "making" them go home to their situations. If they want to be on campus they can be on campus as a student. Obviously if fall football is canceled the team will still be working out a few times a week, they can hit the weight room with their teammates.
  23. They can't prevent the players from being young men. I Uber'd a veteran skill player to a Riverside apartment complex 2 weeks ago. He was meeting up a girl. I have 0 confidence that these young men are disciplined enough to keep themselves away from parties and/or young women for 4 months. I just hope enough of them do that we get football, because I'm selfish and it's my favorite time of the year.
  24. I knew Embiid was good but hadn't seen him at his best. He's at his best tonight. Reminds me of Hakeem. So smooth with the footwork at that height.
