  1. It’s not a terrible point. If you somehow have a shred of decency left and are coming to terms that identifying as a present-day conservative means that you support full-on authoritarianism, I can see how one could be ashamed or angry or find it difficult to embrace that you’ve stumbled into supporting fascism. That said, I don’t see those folks stepping up and saying, “man, I got that shit super wrong” and examining their beliefs. Instead we see them saying “I didn’t vote for this, but I still support you Mr. President!”
  2. I legit think he was having some sort of mental health issue today.
  3. Can we arrange for this?
  4. He might get that opportunity at CECOT.
  5. But, you see, Joe was bringing back jobs in skilled labor. What the MAGATs want is to have all of their Temu crap manufactured in the good ole USA.
  6. We have deportees that are not originally from South Sudan sitting at a military base in Djibouti right now waiting to be transferred to a prison in South Sudan. Totally normal stuff for the leader of the free world.
  7. Go easy on him, he’s going through something today.
  8. On the plus side, maybe they’ll take out some of the idiots on e-scooters.
  9. ICE Barbie takes away Harvard’s ability to enroll international students who make up more than a quarter of their student body. Trump administration bars Harvard from enrolling international students
  10. Clearly. He’s got a blue stripe on his flag and he’s wearing an American flag lapel pin that he could cheat off of.
  11. He’s gone bitchass today.
  12. Y’all keep feeding the troll and the troll is hungry today.
  13. But somehow we have a guy in this country that’s immune to McD’s.
  14. Party of small government. And that’s coming from someone who doesn’t care about weed. I don’t partake, but I don’t care if others do and I fully recognize the benefit it provides to folks with cancer and other conditions.
  15. Don't worry any longer, folks, our legislature has listened to the people and moved the needle back to prohibition. Texas House backs full hemp THC ban in win for Dan Patrick
  16. Needs to have a cutout for the mouth.
  17. I can remember my grandfather, who lived through the depression in the Panhandle, telling me as a kid about T. Boone Pickens buying up water rights in that part of the state and how we was prescient about predicting the value of a scarce resource.
  18. Do you want a cookie? 🍪
  19. 6-10pm during summer in Texas. The exact hours I want to be sweating my balls off in my house.
  20. Somehow or another Dallas has done it, kept it green and managed to not have it turn into some sort of dystopian homeless encampment so it can be done. It will only get more expensive to complete a generational project like cap and stitch so count on Austin to not have the foresight to do it now and then realize twenty years from now that having a gigantic freeway canyon ripping right through the middle of the central city isn’t great. Yep, a wasted opportunity.
  21. Cap and stitch would be awesome. Look no further than Klyde Warren Park in Dallas for what an incredible community amenity it would be. Imagine reclaiming the space between DKR, Moody, McCombs and the Disch and having a unified athletics district. It would also be incredible through the middle of downtown to reclaim what is currently dead space and a magnet for crime and homelessness. Anyone questioning cap and stitch seriously needs to go visit Dallas and see what they did with Klyde Warren. Unfortunately for Austin, a significant portion of that project was funded through private donations and Austin just doesn’t have that kind of history of philanthropy in the community. The Dells can only be expected to do so much. The only section I could see attracting private money is the section through campus.
  22. This. If Travis County voters wanted something different, they would have voted for it. Take Harris County as an example. Kim Ogg was an ineffective hack who had destroyed the morale in the DA’s office with politically motivated BS. Harris County voters said enough of this bullshit and primaried her. Travis County voters had an opportunity to make a change and they voted for the guy knowing exactly what his track record was.
  23. But +rep for thread title that got me to click.
