  1. Three times so far this year. I wish the wife would be willing to keep up this pace all year long. I’m sure I’m about to go on a lengthy dry spell though.
  2. I make pumpkin pies and pecan pies everything Wednesday night before thanksgiving. It’s been a tradition since around 1998. That was the first year I didn’t go back to my hometown for Thanksgiving. Stayed in Austin to go to the game. Ever since then, Thanksgiving has been my favorite holiday. We party Wednesday night while making pies, wake up hungover as hell and cook. Then eat, nap, watch football and start drinking again. We moved back to Graham three years ago. But this is going to be my first Thanksgiving with my bitch sister since 1997. She is already making it stressful on my mom. My wife has already said “we aren’t doing this again.” And we haven’t even seen or talked to my sister yet. Anyways, we have some long time high school friends coming to town this week to visit family. They will be coming by tomorrow night to partake in my tradition. I expect to be quite hungover Thursday at my moms. I can already hear my sister pissing everyone off and someone leaving before we even eat. I am NOT looking forward to my favorite holiday being ruined.
  3. Miller lite. Walked in the house after the game and asked if we had any liquor (I stopped drinking liquor years ago). Wife and others said “You asked the same damn thing last week.” There wasn’t any. It was then that I realized just how bad we suck and that I’m going to have to start drinking liquor again as long as Herman is coaching.
  4. I understand he is 86. I know what to expect. I’ve seen Willie many times over to past 20+ years. I figure this may be the last time I see him play, and it most certainly will be my dad’s last. I am hoping a couple of songs sound great, and he makes it through his set without having to be helped off the stage. To me, that would be a good show.
  5. I’m going to his show at Billy Bob’s tomorrow night. Taking my old man. Our first concert together was Willie at Stubb’s. My dad is in horrible health as well. This will most likely be our last concert to attend. Hopefully Willie can put on a decent show.
  6. Why did the Vikings take the timeout? I can’t figure out the reasoning at all.
  7. I have no clue what discord is, but I tried to sign up anyways. I clicked the link and then tried to register. It’s says my email has already been registered. I guess you guys did this? So I try to login, but I don’t know my password since I never registered myself. I used the password I use for surly, and that didn’t work. How did I get registered, and how do I know my password?
  8. Damn it. Son was in the hospital last weekend, and I forgot to make my LSU prediction. Need to win a week to get my money back since I don't see much chance in winning the whole thing (among the payers) by missing a week.
  9. I’m 90% sure I was sitting near you at that game. I was only 8 so hard to know for sure. My 18 year old cousin, who was drunk I’m sure, was one of the teenage girls going down to get his attention. He finally threw a ball to her. Probably so she would shut up and leave.
  10. Schools are really good for a town this size. They don’t offer as much as schools in bigger cities do, but there are opportunities for your kids to excel. I prefer the Graham schools compared to Baranoff, Bailey, Bowie track my two oldest completed in Austin. It is so easy to get to know all your kids’ teachers and communicate with them. This was not always the case in the big schools in Austin. The town isn’t dying. Basically the same population it’s been since I was born there in 1978. There are not a ton of job opportunities, but sounds like that won’t be an issue with you. Definitely slower paced, and I didn’t realize how much I would love that. It’s freaking amazing. My wife is also a stay at home mom now. It’s perfect. We coach our girls’ soccer and basketball teams, I’m in Lions Club, we are very involved with our church, etc. Graham is a great community and offers many different opportunities to be involved if that is something you and/or your wife are into. When we were in Austin, we simply had no time to do all the things we do now. I could go on and on. I highly recommend.
  11. I was born and raised in Graham. Moved to Austin to go to UT, and stayed there for 20 years. My wife (who is also from Graham) and I finally decided to get the hell out of Austin and move back to Graham three years ago. By far the best decision we have ever made. We do miss the food options. But other than that, don't miss a thing about being in the city. It also helped that three months after moving back, we got to vote on allowing Graham to sell beer in stores. It passed!!! No longer have to drive 15 miles out of town to get alcohol. Although there is a part of me that misses the "road trip" to get beer. Always liked taking dirt roads back to town while having a couple of beers, shooting the shit with whoever went with you to get beer, and enjoying the scenery. What all do you want to know?
  12. In. Everyone at the house just went to bed. Left it up to me to see how little beers will be left by morning.
  13. That was a great episode. My favorite in the series so far. I started laughing as soon as I saw him in the ski mask, and then it went to 11 with the girl. I haven’t laughed that much in a while.
  14. Thought January was going to end without. But toward the end of the month, she texts me just before lunch (my office is next door to my house) wanting some. Forgot to actually eat lunch before heading back to the office. We had some beers the next night. That ended in an impromptu session in the bathroom like we used to do years ago when people were over for a party or to watch the game. So, January ended great. This afternoon she texted about 45 minutes before it was time for her to go get kids from school “You want to take a break from work? If so, hurry up.” Today was a good day.
  15. I have not laughed this much in a while. Had no clue why a Josh Norman thread had more than 10 replies. Thank you surly for the great start to my Christmas morning.
  16. Having Christmas at my mom’s today. So far things have been okay. Waiting on my sister to blow up and ruin everything. Couple of things have made me come to this thread though. First was my mom. We were all standing around the table, waiting for my preacher brother in law to say the prayer. My mom says, “Real quick I need to say something.” I figured it would be some sappy, tearful speech about all of us being there, how happy she was, etc. Instead she said “Please be sure to remember no paper products in the toilet. It gets backed up when you flush toilet paper down. I’d hate to have a clogged toilet today.” It’s true. My moms house is out in the country with country plumbing. But everyone knows the drill. So, that is how the meal started. Little background on next part. My parents are divorced. Dad still comes out to my moms for Xmas. He is in bad health. I was supposed to bring him out. He was sick though. So he stayed at his house today. My dumbass sister waits til right in the middle of the meal to ask what is wrong with my dad. I start to simply say he isn’t felling well, and my wife chimes in with stomach issues. All is well I think. Then dumbass sister says “It’s those damn anti diarrhea pills he takes all the time. He gets stopped up taking them for days at a time then finally starts with diarrhea shits everywhere.” I had my face down so I wouldn’t see everyone’s reaction and start laughing. I think the entire table was pissed. Luckily my mom quickly switched the subject by saying “Boy, this brisket sure is good.” Hopefully these two shitty stories (pun intended) are the highlight of the day. I wouldn’t bet on it though.
  17. This is by far my favorite thread of the year. My sister is a complete bitch. Holidays make it worse. She is the type that posts shit on Facebook in October about being excited that the Hallmark channel will soon be showing 55 straight days of Christmas movies. Or whatever the fuck that channel does. She is so full of shit. In real life, she usually brings my mom to tears each Christmas. It’s a complete shit show. I dread it. My wife, kids and I go simply for my mom. This year my sis scheduled some sort of family portrait thing the Tuesday before thanksgiving. I 100% guarantee it will be a disaster and people will leave pissed off with several in tears. Going to be a horrible start to the holidays. But we go to my wife’s side the day after, and they kick ass. Can’t wait. Christmas is even better, because her mom pays for hotel rooms for all adults for one night while she watches all the grandkids. We get to go bar hopping for the night, getting shit faced liked we did when we were in our 20’s.
  18. From the thriving metropolis of Graham. FIGHT!!!
  19. Towards the end of the video, he looked bored and hoping to be fired anyways.
  20. I agree with showcasing the academics. I realize that's probably not going to get great ratings, but it could be a huge asset to the academic side.
  21. Is there a link to the podcast?
