  1. Just say no to nostrils.
  2. Always double the garlic amount in recipes. And if it's for me, start at one small head of garlic and go up from there. Why bother with garlic at all if you're only adding one or two cloves??
  3. You are pretty much effed. Just enjoy and drive the hell out of the loaner. And don't blame MBUSA too hard, probably safe to assume they have a supply issue as well for critical electronics. Some cars have basic items like fenders and windshields months out, much less a low volume specialized electronic like make up most of MB infotainment.
  4. Much less prone. Freezer burn is basically a dehydration (freeze-drying) process where the moisture in the food sublimates (evaporates) and leaves the food. With zero airspace in the bag, there is no freezer burn as the moisture has nowhere to go. In addition, the heat sealed vac bag is a better barrier than a Ziploc seal, so moisture also takes a very long time to find its way out of the bag.
  5. Didn't see this on your list: One major consideration when moving abroad at older age is the quality and cost of medical care. When evaluating places to live, look at the availability and proximity of quality care, look at the costs of that care, and consider if you can somehow quality for a national healthcare system. First one is a Pro, not a con. Opportunity to broaden your perspective, learn another culture. Second one is related to the first. It is a barrier only if you want to be. If you don't want it to be, then put in the work to learn the language and culture. Third one is broadly related to the first two, and is not <usually> for the reason of being American. Foreigners in general get treated like shit in many areas until the locals see that they genuinely are interested in being part of the community, and not just there to be rude neighbors who exploit the locals. The ones that get hated are the ones who land in a country and immediately look down at all the uncivilized squalor and horrid behaviour around them, not realizing that they really should look in the mirror.
  6. Man, at least they offered sandwiches. Way better than most short-haul US carriers.
  7. I took a nap.
  8. Wait for Labor Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving sales, usually find $6-7 a pound at those times. Trim and tie into roasts of however many bones feeds your family, vac seal and freeze. They'll keep a year, which easily tides you over to the next sale. When it's time to cook, thaw sealed for 2-3 days in fridge, then dry brine and open wire rack and cook as usual.
  9. Love the book as well. "Way to go Dallas!!!"
  10. Car dashcam. They run off USB power, so if you have power nearby, just use a USB phone charger to keep them powered. Easy to mount, suction cup or adhesive pad wherever you need to view. They'll loop record forever, if 24hr is enough time for you to discover the issue, put a 64gb card in each and pull the video for the appropriate timestamp when your incident occurs.
  11. America.
  12. The lengths some people will go to to avoid having to give you another handy.
  13. This, all of this, except I like to go lower and slower, I try to hold 225 until IT of 110, and rest for 30min or more (big piece of meat, takes a longer time for core temp to peak). And don't sweat getting a perfect sear at the end, each slice doesn't get that much outer crust anyway. Or preheat your oven to broil 500F and do the final sear in the oven. Taste will be the same and it's a lot easier to monitor and no risk of giant shooting flames from all the fat dripping. For OP - some people are really sensitive to smoke taste. Are you always adding smoking wood? If so, try with no additional smoking wood. And make sure your fire is burning clean before you put the food on. Use a drip pan with water, spaced off the deflector with a few balls of foil, to keep drippings from burning on the deflectors.
  14. The Ikea Koncis garlic press has a removable grate for cleaning, and slightly larger holes than most presses. Wouldn't think it would matter so much, but the removable grate makes cleaning so much easier.
  15. Bumping this as I start doing research - planning to go in Nov.
  16. I bet his Global Entry renewal still comes back faster than @Superhero
  17. That probably only gets you onto the 2yr waiting list (instead of the 5yr waiting list).
  18. I've mailed my passport for visas a bunch of times. Wouldn't worry about it.
  19. I suggest replying with a sternly worded "Don't you know who I am?" 1% of the time, it works every time.
  20. And don't underestimate this. On a "traditional" theater movie, distrib/marketing makes up over half of the costs. That always seems insane to me. Majority of the costs of a conventional movie are not spent in MAKING the damn movie.
  21. Ming just announced their next watch, 37.07 Two 15min order windows on July29 GMT, no limited edition, but only taking orders in those two time blocks. https://www.ming.watch/products/ming-37-07
  22. I'm here for the big silicone. Oh wait, wrong forum.
