  1. https://bustingbrackets.com/2021/03/16/ncaa-basketball-ranking-68-head-coaches-2021-ncaa-tournament/17/ 21. Shaka Smart (Texas) 7 NCAA Tournaments (7-7) There were certainly rumblings that the end had come for Smart at Texas, with the results largely disappointing since his hiring in 2015. He took VCU to a Final Four and a flurry of Tournament bids but just hadn’t turned Texas into a successful program. This season, he’s led the Longhorns as high as #4 in the nation and won the first Big 12 Tournament title in program history. One season doesn’t absolutely change everything unless of course, Texas catches fire in the NCAA Tournament. 13. Rick Barnes (Tennessee) 24 NCAA Tournaments (24-24) It’s been a long and successful head coaching career for Barnes, who has led four different schools to the NCAA Tournament during a career that dates back almost 35 years. He took Texas to the Final Four during a long run with the Longhorns and has turned Tennessee into one of the top-level teams in the SEC. This past season was a bit disappointing and this isn’t Barnes’ best Tennessee squad, but he’s proven that he’s still one of the game’s top guys. 8. Chris Beard (Texas Tech) 3 NCAA Tournaments (9-3) Beard has really exploded onto the national scene in recent years. Just six years ago he was still a non-D1 head coach, but the former Bob Knight assistant took Little Rock to 30 wins and an NCAA Tournament upset before returning home to Texas Tech in 2016. When you consider that he’s taken the Red Raiders to a national title game, far more success than Knight or anyone else has accomplished, you can see the wonders he’s been not just for his program but for the competition in the Big 12.
  2. Missimo is a game changer. Add in the new recruits and it's a UT-Solar team. Just drive the bus and not park it.
  3. No mention of DeVante’ Jones by IT guys. Did UK make an offer to him?
  4. Baines! It's a great life if you don't weaken. Saw the The Fallen Idol for the first time. Carol Reed, Graham Green and Alexander Korda all involved. The Third Man is one of my favorite movies - the naive and cynical sides of the two Americans contrasted with the war weariness of the Europeans. So many great scenes with unforced humor such as Holly lecturing on modern literature. The zither music and the cinematography is outstanding. Still mulling over this one. May have to watch again.
  5. Mary Hardin Baylor represent. My favorite of the Tennessee Williams films.

Clark was the rare homegrown who got sold to another club even with expectations that he'd bolt to Europe. He's from Minnesota but played for Barca in Arizona and then went to NY with plans to go to Leipzig. Sounds like a song. Minnesota haggled and got a little money for him to go to NY. Compare this to Jonathan Gomez formerly at FCD. He's a standout left back that got a lowball FCD offer and refused it. FCD stopped playing him at the youth level. He's playing at Louisville USL waiting to turn 18 so he can bolt to Europe. His brother is playing in Portugal for what I believe is a D2 team. https://3rddegree.net/whos-the-next-fc-dallas-academy-signing-fall-2019-edition

First guy's dad lives(d) in Dallas suburbs and I believe was a scout. Ran into him at a HS game. His son was over for a couple of years and was just too rowdy for suburban high schools. With legitimate chances to join English clubs he went back to live with mom. From what I remember he played well with Southend before transferring to QPR.
  8. When was the last time a Texas team was better at the end of the season than they were at the beginning? The Final Four team? GTFO with any NIT finish.
  9. This is incorrect. I remember the era of byes. 64 teams happened in 1985.
  10. This is from a KU site... This is from a VERY, VERY credible and reputable source. Someone who has made the rounds as a college assistant. Here’s the set up as I was told by someone very close to the situation: Rodney, Jerrance and Ulric will be recruiting/coaching and Chris staying on campus overseeing the stuff in the weeds for Beard and will coach every practice with Beard. I can assure you that Beard is not going to allow any of the peripheral stuff to distract from coaching the team, player relationships, game prep and recruiting. Ogden has described in detail to me Beard’s fanaticism with those things. Those 3 recruiting to Austin along with Beard and Nike has potential to be ridiculous. I predict the basketball world is about to find out that Ulric is one of the top 2-3 recruiters in the America. I’ve witnessed him first hand. He has the “it” factor. Every AAU guy in the country freakin loves him. And he is a genuinely great guy. He went way out of his way to help me recruiting a couple of times when he had no incentive. Supposedly the salaries will be Rodney $1 million, Ogden $800K, Ulric $650. Don’t know about Jerrance yet but I would bet he was making $450K+ at Kansas. A new bar has been set by the University of Texas

Thie first sentence from bs post is what I saw this morning NBCSN showed video of the interaction; Pulisic sprinting on and then being told he was coming off. Pulisic looked baffled and nothing like a guy telling his manager he tweaked a hamstring. This is Tuchel being his typical self and shifting responsibility for a dumb decision onto someone else

When did he suffer the injury? It sure looked like was ready to enter field for second half when Coaching staff called him back Looks like poor communication from tuchel.

This is from BS thread on Gringo's Wall of Shame. My responses are underlined. they don’t prioritize:the Olympics Two US camps v. 20 MX camps. True.the U-17 World Cup. Before last U17, US made elimination rounds. False.the U-20 World Cup. US won last two U20 Concacaf tourneys. Made elimination rounds. False.the Gold Cup. Undetermined. This year should be depth prep for qualifiers.the Nations League. Chance for first team to play in meaningful games before qualifiers.the Confederations Cup. Is this still going on?the Super Liga. the Milk Cupthe Festival International “Espoirs” - Tournoi Maurice Revellothe PanAmericanosthe CONCACAF Champions League.what they prioritize:friendlies. haha. that's all we've had in last two years.owning the Mexis. If this was true, we wouldn't have scored against Panama in 2016. Tie game and Mexico misses WC. But true for fans.the World Cup (has never come close to winning it in the modern era). Just qualify and go as far as they can. (And Mexico has?)the Women’s World Cup (this is unfair to the Women’s program because they’re trying to glory hump their success). True. and why not the world is catching up. I have serious questions on how US younger players will do playing on the road in WC Qualifiers. I want them to have Dempsey's attitude and back it up with play.
  14. Kreis post game comment. WTF. Players and coaches take the blame. And this preseason excuse is bullshit. They played way better in the Mexico match and he pulls this preseason shit. He starts Dotson on a bum ankle and he is ineffective. Kreis can't unlock a team. He fucking sucks. https://twitter.com/JeffreyCarlisle/status/1376331708669161472/photo/1

  17. Too bad Covid wasn't delayed last year by a month. We could have picked from the following roster. Note that Ledezma, Llanez and Pomykal were healthy at the time. Ferreira Llanez Aaronson Ledezma Pomykal Dotson (but likely Yueill) Gloster McKenzie Palmer-Brown Cannon Ochoa US U-23 roster for 2020 Olympic Qualifiers Pos. 18. Blood simple on last night. Recorde it they yttv. Too much basketball and soccer going on to watch now.
  19. When Shaka moves on I’ll take Tad Boyle.
  20. Fereirra had two chances that he should have scored. The early shot that hit the post and the nice pass through from Dotson where Fereirra had a poor first touch. Didn't Glad have an open header off a corner. It could just as easily have been 4-4. Thanks to Ochoa they survived and on to the next game. Next big game against DR. Just win and keep building fitness. And be all in for the semi game as long as Mexico beats or ties CR. Don't want to be 2-0 v. 1-1 Mexico with 1-1 CR playing DR.

Word is he hurt his ankle. Was Tessman the next best fit? This roster seems to be shoe-horned. Perea leaves Colombia for US, so he has to make the team. Cardoso chooses US, and he must make the team. Yueill at one time was first choice 6 when Adams was out, so he makes the team. Dotson is a 6. That's 4 players who play the 6 on a 20 man roster. Sure seems that Perea had an inducement for switching. Dotson can play some outside back if the guys are injured and maybe never sees the field. Yueill is captain so is he an 8 with Cardoso as enforcer 6? Hope I'm wrong, but not confident with this roster against Mexico. CR game is up in the air today.
