  1. Atlanta Braves win 14 consecutive division titles from 1991-2004. Appear in 5 World Series. Only get 1 World Series title in that span. Hope this is not where the Astros are headed.
  2. Was there last year. Places I recommend for dining -- both very good: Local Flavor Grotto Wood-Fired Grill We stayed at the Crescent. Great view from the bar on the top floor, nice grounds, crappy rooms, and the common areas need updating. Their breakfast is good.
  3. Tried it twice. No reason for a third time.
  4. Saturday Night Fever Drinking while trying to forget today’s game...
  5. REALLY? Gee, I didn’t know that.... It actually is from Terminator to start, by the way. Point was to rag on the poster who thought it was necessary to spend time critiquing Predator.
  6. TravelPro soft side holds up really well in my experience. Frankly, better than my Tumi We have also bought a couple of pieces of Away. Has held up really well, and is very light (which allows my wife to pack more...)
  7. No. Rivers-Marie, so it will be a Thomas Rivers Brown wine. They are leasing it. She did sell the Two Old Dogs name to someone else. Unfortunately for me, not a big fan of TRB wines.
  8. So I’ve spent a lot of time in that area — parents have lived in Glen Rose for years, and grandparents did before that. Big Cup is great for breakfast. Diner/cafe fare, but in a good way, with Hugh portions. I don’t know about other Har Eight locations, but the one in Stephenville is good. Not worth a special road trip, but good if you are in the area. Hammond’s owners have been very good to the community over the years. Barbecue is average. And as mentioned above, it real;lay doesn’t make sense not to take 220 out of Hico unless you really just want to waste time.
  9. Wall Street in downtown Midland, near the Doubletree. Been there for years. Not exceptional, but solid. Been there several times over the years when in town for court.
  10. Fun fact: Radiohead was asked to do the title song, but the producers thought the song was too dark and rejected it. Someone went back and put the song over the opening credit sequence. Song starts at about 1:55:
  11. Wrong Firehouse brisket sandwich. It's this one, which looks much worse:
  12. The "Nashville Hot Brisket Sandwich" from Firehouse Subs, described as: "This sub features slow-smoked USDA Choice beef brisket freshly sliced with a kick of spicy Nashville Hot seasoning, spicy pickle chips, mayo, sweet and tangy slaw and melted pepper jack cheese served on a toasted cornbread roll." What could possibly be wrong with that? Here's a link to the commercial: https://www.ispot.tv/ad/o8OC/firehouse-subs-nashville-hot-brisket-equipment-for-first-responders
  13. SO I can only go by my anecdotal experience: prime is more tender and more flavorful (and for me easier to get to the right point). That's just me cooking, and my guess is that better cooks can get the choice ti be just as good.
  14. Yes, but I prefer getting their prime and trimming it -- better beef. It's fine, though
  15. I really wasn’t either until we spent 10 days in France this year. French food in France >>>>> French food in the US And we went to Italy after. I’ll say the same about Italian food there vs. the heavy, over-sauced stuff we tend to get here

    Pizza

DaSano is great, but I agree it is pricey. I think it’s worth it. By the way, get the meatballs for an appetizer.
  18. I will give it a try! Yes, I bought more, and I have plenty of storage space to lay it down for a few years. 2009 vintage was nice, but the 2008 is special IMO
  19. A 2008 vintage champagne is past the point to decant
  20. Ahhhh, not sure what you’ve seen from our defense that leads you to that conclusion...
  21. S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y NIGHT The 2008 Dom is amazing, by the way. The Immortal is the 2014, which was great after a decant
