  1. Off the rim but real dumb by Shedrick
  2. I am a massive fan of Layer Cake and really wish he would go back to that (the diner scene is A+ filmmaking), instead of dumb CGI-fest action movies.
  3. Always loved this song. That first album of hers was pretty great. She hosted some New Year's thing too and she was a mess there. I give it somewhat of a pass since it was New Year's, but obviously there is more to it.
  4. I have not dug too deep into the early or latest albums but Red and 1989 are legitimately great records.
  5. That was a foul. Mitchell has been great but he needs to be more aggressive there on the lay up.
  6. Can we run the old Barnes half court throw and call a TO?
  7. If we lose, it's due to FT's. Missed a bunch of big ones the last few minutes.
  8. Zone of Interest was horrifying. Just the mundanity of the evil was worse than showing it. Definitely a capital “A” Art film, which I usually don’t respond to but this was very effective. The sounds and visuals in the background really tell the story and are horrific.
  9. Looks like they stuffed it into Accrueds and Other, which is where you hide your shit. That number did go up, so if this dude’s hypothesis is right, I’d be real curious what hidden danger is in there, offsetting the decreases in the deposits.
  10. I just assume he is hiring another bad coordinator to make his son look better.
  11. Everything at the rim for them. Need to be better there.
  12. Yeah, it hit a few festivals last year and the buzz was strong. No idea why it has taken so long to come out, but excited for it. Powell has a shot at being a big star.
  13. Of course he doesn't. That would take actual, you know, work. Something he has never done.
  14. I am 41 and 100% washed, but I try to keep up with what's going on in the music world. I gave Olivia Rodrigo a shot and like a lot of it. She makes some good pop/rock ("Good 4 You", "Bad Idea Right?") and some good ballads ("Enough for You", "Drivers License"). It's all cleverly written and she wears the late teens/early 20's angst/rebellion well. Certainly much better than a lot of other who have tried the same thing. I also really like "Vampires", but it kind of loses me by the end. I found a full piano version and it's pretty great. Quick CSB. I tend to listen to music loudly in my car and when I was going through Olivia Rodrigo songs, I happened to drive by McCallum High right as school got out. I had to turn it down, so a bunch of teens didn't see some creep in his 40's (probably look 60 to them) listening to her in front of their school.
  15. Looks fun. He's made some garbage in his career, but his Garbage Lad movies have always been great.
  16. Cybertruck makers watching this video (if they care, which they probably don't):
  17. That block from Mitchell at the end was sick.
  18. The last couple of weeks, I watched a couple of my favorite 90's movies I had not seen in awhile. Se7en - I always loved this movie, as dark as it is. It is the first movie I remember seeing and thinking, "Oh shit, you can do this in movies and make it entertaining?" It still feels like it could be set today, which is kind of crazy since it was made almost 30 years ago. Impressive to make something like that feel so timeless. This time, what struck me was how incredible Gwyneth was. She really has two scenes (other than when her head was in a box), but she is incredibly charming in the apartment scene and then devastating in the diner scene. Outside of the occasional ski-related court case, she seems to be thriving, so good for her, but it would be awesome if she had a late career revival doing something interesting. LA Confidential - I saw this was on Netflix, so I popped it on. From when I saw it in 1997, it was always one of my favorite movies and it still rules. Immaculately made across the board; acting, directing, writing, music, production design. An incredible movie. Honestly, I think the weakest part of the movie is Basinger and she is the one who won the Oscar. Oscars can be weird. It was up for Best Picture against Titanic, Full Monty and Good Will Hunting. Great year. Unfortunately, the Netflix transfer is kind of shit and I don't think it's big enough of a movie to get that fixed.
  19. I said this elsewhere but on Beef, I don’t think I’ve ever felt more strongly about the phrase “This should have been a movie”. Just way too long with people doing stupid shit to keep it going. I realized last night that the Bear season getting recognized was season 1. It’ll clean up again next Emmy’s. Sucks that Saul was basically shut out. I was really hoping Rhea Seahorn would get her due.
  20. Depends, are you on a Boeing?
  21. Proposal to change the banner of this site to “our posters are penis cancer in human form”. Really enjoyed it. Felt very much like an Altman or Bogdanovich 70’s movie. Wonderfully sad and joyous throughout.
