Made it back to Humboldt for another garden tour. Prices are still extremely low. Feel bad for what these awesome families are getting for their magic. They are hoping for $500 per pound this year. Barely survive on that if your lucky. None of these amazing farmers live in “luxury,” quite the opposite. They just care so much and it’s all they’ve got for most of them…they have to keep going…but many are having to shut down. At the local dispensary you can grab an OZ of Guerrilla Glue and others for $110. Still the best flower I’ve seen. Hopefully there’s a way to allow these boutique growers to continue to keep their craft going. If you’re in a California dispensary see if you can grab a Humboldt brand.
  3. Oku is awesome. Great food…make reservation. Went on both of my last two visits in the last month. Jeff Ruby’s is delicious as well…a bit pricey but worth it IMO.Really cool bar and decor. Fantastic steaks and great sushi. I usually stay at the Kimpton Aertson or the Lowes Vandy since I’m there to visit my youngest.
  4. Stay long and strong on the companies you know are great.
  5. Had same thing happen in California. Had to then say chili con queso. They still don’t know wtf.
  6. From Deep South Austin. Sark, lead us to the promised land! TEXAS!!!!!!!! 🤘🏻
  7. Section 130, Row 3. Last row in this balcony section. Chairbacks with easy access to bathroom and beer. $300 each. Selling them in a pair for $600.
  8. Was watching that game. Right after the onside kick I stood up and walked out of the room and told my wife that’s the stupidest play call I’ve possibly ever seen. Save for some Greg Davis calls.
  9. Anchor Down! Great win and much needed for the team. Let’s see how they play the rest of the season…but really like that QB.
  10. Are they seriously claiming the car is worth over 100% of MSRP?
  11. Ya, no surprises ever on the Surly. The Lodge would be a fun lol call. Maybe just bring the hookers to them with a pile of blow. Just looked at some private chef experiences in your home where they can do/teach sushi and all kinds of stuff.
  12. Have a friend who did me a huge favor recently. Like went above and beyond on something I needed help on. Enough to have a nice budget to thank him. He’s got everything he needs. Isn’t a big drinker and likes “experiences.” Age is mid 50s. I would like to get him a really cool/unique experience…he will take his girlfriend. Was thinking private helicopter tour over the city…balloon ride…custom cowboy boots…something fun and nice. Not a major sports fan. Appreciate any thoughts.
  13. Why I use Apple exclusively. Microsoft wishes they had their UI capabilities…much less the hardware.
  14. I thought this might be cool too. I just remember my first fountain and ink everywhere. Maybe it’s gotten better?
  15. I know some of y’all are old enough to remember when we wrote more than we typed. We actually signed a document with a writing instrument versus a digital signature. I wanted to gift someone a very nice pen who will be in a position of having to sign many documents. I’ve been looking at Montblanc, S.T. Dupont and Caran d’Ache. Should I go roller or ballpoint? Hoping to maybe find a place I can try them out. Any thoughts would be great for those who appreciate well-crafted pens. I use uniball pens exclusively…this is just a gift and wanted it to be a nice keepsake for a family member. TYIA
  16. This is a crazy story…for my family as well. We used to visit Chautauqua every summer with my wife’s family. Her step mom led the women’s club there and we would go to each lecture and listen to fascinating speakers and enjoy the peaceful and open grounds. If you’ve ever been, it’s the last place you would expect something like this to happen…which is likely how he got away with it. It’s truly an amazing place. Pre internet and phone Chautauqua was a place where leaders in their field would come and enlighten the audience with what was going on in the world. The first house Edison electrified is there (or hotel or something of his firsts)…Amelia Earhart landed her plane there to speak. I was there one summer when they had a sports leader section and Roger Goodell spoke and I met him next to the stage. No cars, only bikes…arts, literature, music…some of the best ice cream you’ve had…just a really special place. Great historic homes everyone stays in on property. Still unreal to think about this happening there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chautauqua St. Stephen’s site in Austin was originally a Chautauqua as well.
  17. I love the griddle in the middle of my stove top. I don’t need six burners. I use it all the time. All gas. No breakers.
  18. Mine was @ four years ago…price has doubled.
  19. I drop the chicken in the hot skillet in the oven first. Then pour potatoes on top. Midway through I stir everything up and bring the chicken more to the top and let it get nice and browned. You will have some nice crispy potatoes and we’ll as some delicious soaked in juicy ones. it’s really good. Makes great leftovers heated back up in oven too. I usually do at least 1/2 more pound of potatoes than recipe calls for (they’re that good). If you use less (recipe) and a whole bird, you will get very crispy as long as they’re exposed around the chicken while it cooks. The 425 degrees is key in this recipe.
