  1. If I had to guess how the West seeding shakes out, I think (1) GSW loses tonight at SAC and beats Portland on Sunday, and (2) LAL wins their final two against PHX and Utah in Los Angeles, giving the Lakers the 6th seed with the tie breaker over Golden State. That assumes SAC goes all out tonight, which I think they will since they could technically still get the 2 seed if Memphis loses out. Memphis plays the Bucks at 8pm (who will presumably be resting their entire team), so it’s possible they will have clinched the 2 around tip off of Kings Warriors, in which case Kings could pull their starters early.
  2. Honestly it’s more texture than flavor. I find the frozens stay really firm and sometimes have an odd feel when eating. The real onions come out more like stewed onions, and sometimes fall apart. But I agree they are a real pain in the ass to prepare.
  3. Agree on the first point, semi-agree on the second. No, you don’t need a DRC Burgundy, but I find that a quality Pinot or Cote Du Rhône makes a real difference in the flavor. I feel like I usually end up in the $40-$50 range. Another change I make to that Ina recipe (having it made it dozens of times), is to double the mushrooms and use real Pearl onions.
  4. All these references to Ethan Burke do not give me the warm and fuzzies about our pass rush, which I guess is to be expected. And before the Westlake Honks get pissy, I’m sure he’s a great kid from a great family who bleeds burnt orange.
  5. If Wes Anderson makes 50 movies, I'll watch 50 movies. I enjoy them less than when I was in high school for sure, but still enjoyable.
  6. "TexAgs seems more your style" has to be the equivalent of an Orangebloods burn on our board, right? I guess the difference is that TexAgs represents a majority of their online fandom by far.
  7. That shit happened to me, except it was my work iPhone. A little after 4am-ish stumbling back to hotel after a night out, and some innocent seeming dudes came dancing up to us. 7 seconds later I realized my phone was gone. I was only a third year law firm associate at the time, but my firm remote wiped the phone and sent me a new one the next day. Can’t let a single billable hour potentially go to waste…
  8. Incredible to have the Harden trade and losing KD on your resume and yet still be viewed as the best or one of the best GMs in the league. Guy has a crazy ability to spot talent (or at least an ability to hire the right people to do so).
  9. Crowe had a pretty great run from Say Anything, Singles, Jerry Maguire, Vanilla Sky and Almost Famous. Then he just turned to complete and absolute shit.
  10. Pop is a great coach, obviously. One of the best of all time. The worst/funniest thing about Pop was his holier than thou response on tanking last spring. "It’s just not who we are. It’s not who I am. I can’t operate like that." Bitch your entire hall of fame career was set up by tanking in 96-97, and now he's at it again. Personally I think it's totally justifiable to tank once every three decades in hopes of snagging a generational talent, but at least have some self-awareness.
  11. The best thing about EEAAO, by far, was Michelle Yeoh's acting. She was phenomenal, and I had no real problem with her winning over Blanchette even though Tar was my second favorite movie of the year. The mother/daughter and husband/wife storylines at the core of the movie also worked relatively well. The Wong Kar Wai homages were enough to put the movie in my personal top 25 for 2022. But, for me, the non-stop omg LULZ humor got really, really tiresome and unfunny, and I was very ready for the movie to end. It's not a difficult movie "to get". It's just not everyone's cup of tea, and that's ok. Genre movies can be like that. But also fuck the knuckle draggers in this thread who just can't help but get themselves worked up over anything of color receiving adulation (OMG I can't even open my algorithmically-curated Facebook feed without race being thrown in my face by woke Hollywood argghhh!!)
  12. I had been itching to try a salt-baked branzino after having it presented table side in St Barts a few years ago. Got a recipe from the Via Carota cook book. It was good branzino, but not sure I see myself going to the trouble in the future.
  13. I had a great little lunch on the terrace of Cascina Schiavenza a few years ago in Serralunga. We stayed in Monforte. Love that entire area.
  14. You're not wrong. Crash vs. Green Book for worst modern best picture of all time would be a too close to call race. Shape of Water not my cup of tea, but not remotely as terrible as those two pieces of garbage mascaraing as cinema.
  15. You went through all of that summary, and didn't mention that they made a movie about a guy dying after taking the length from a horse? Those dudes are odd ducks.
  16. Green Book. The movie you are looking for is Green Book.
  17. Curry has just eviscerated a shorthanded Bucks in the last 10 minutes. Just elite shot making to go with a game saving block on Jrue.
  18. The Will Emerson roof scene is one of the all time bests.
  19. That’s easy to write, but a lot harder to implement. Who is the final arbiter of whether a player is injured? And that ignores that in many cases its the team giving the load management nod.
  20. You are spot on. I can’t remember if it was Lowe or Simmons or someone else, but I heard Silver described as a great “peace time” commissioner, but it’s time to be a war time commissioner. The league has to do away with load management somehow (I won’t pretend to know the answer). Reducing the games played seems obvious, but no business is going to willingly reduce its revenue generating inventory, so there has to be a replacement revenue stream.
  21. Draymond is annoying, but he’s a HOFer, former DPOY, and critical component to one of the great dynasties in NBA history. Dillon Brooks shouldn’t be in the NBA.
  22. Do you know if you are flying on the A380 or the 777? I got ripped up on the A380 business class bar coming back from Lake Como a few years ago. Great flight. But the best part of that flight without question is the ability to board directly from the Emirates lounge. It's a shame that isn't more common in the U.S.
