  1. Not my first, but 43 years ago tonight, I saw Johnny Winter in the Sam Houston Coliseum. Weather Report, with Wayne Shorter and Jaco Pastoreus ,opened. Weird pairing, great show.
  2. Funny, I don't feel like an old timer. But, about the game. I watched this last night also, and had forgotten about this play, but LES KOENIG WAS ROBBED!!! Didn't matter ultimately, because we still won, but the final score should have been 24-13, not 20-13.
  3. First big name show I attended was February 1971 at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo when my dad took the family to see Johnny Cash. I was only 9, so it was a little hard to appreciate, but I do remember enjoying the show. First rock concert was March 1976 at the Sam Houston Colosseum when my sister and I saw Bad Company with Ted Nugent opening. Atmosphere was awesome, and I managed to get slightly stoned vicariously due to the thick clouds of Mary Jane in the air. Not related to my first, but I thought this was as good a place as any to mention that 40 years ago this very night, in fact from the very moment I'm typing this, that same sister and I were in the Summit watching as Muddy Waters opened for Eric Clapton. Great, great show. Was hoping Johnny Winter would make an appearance, but that was not to be. Great show anyway.
  4. There it is. Texas wins.
  5. Walk...tying run at bat
  6. Grounder to short. Two down
  7. Line drive to left...one out.
  8. Alright Horns, need three outs to win this thing.
  9. Brandon Ivey on to pitch
  10. On to top of 8, 3-1 Texas
  11. Another hit wasted...Shaw throw out at second.
  12. Nice strike out by Bocchi to end the inning, but fuck that behind the plate camera angle. I would have like to see the pitch.
  13. Dang. O'Donnell is dealing.
  14. Good job by Whalen putting up a goose egg after giving up lead off double.
  15. Hmmm...seems like a classy guy. I hope the team remembers this when they go up to Morgantown later this year. https://www.12up.com/posts/6314990-west-virginia-trolls-texas-with-horns-down-their-official-schedule
  16. The point is nobody is arguing Gideon as the best defensive player for UT since 2000. True, but Slorch seemed to be making the argument that since ET was on the field as a freshman, that was an endorsement of his talent. Perhaps I was mistaken in my interpretation.
  17. An equally young Blake Gideon was also on the field at that time...so what's your point?
  18. Dang it! Beat me to it. Here are a couple others: He was born In Oklahoma His wife's name is Betty Lou Thelma Liz When you're down on your luck and you ain't got a buck in London you're a goner
  19. Must remember to bump this thread in mid-July-early August when I need a boost of orange Kool-Aid to power me through the end of the off season. I'm peaking too soon.
  20. Another fairly long video, but some interesting things, and fun to watch how excited these guys get about the new Gibson stuff. I especially liked the reaction at the 27:53 mark about the Johnny Winter replica Firebird, as JW is one of my all time favorites and doesn't get enough appreciation (IMHO), and I also liked the 31:10 mark where they show the prototype Billy Gibbons SG, with the Texas shaped backing plate. Enjoy.
  21. A more informed (than mine) viewpoint on this: https://www.engadget.com/2019/01/22/fender-acoustasonic-telecaster-hands-on/
  22. I have to admit, when I first read the title of this thread, my first thought for an appropriate response was: "WHAT IS THIS PRIVATE PYLE?" Just watched FMJ a couple night ago. That shit never gets old.
  23. My advice to you is to do what your parents did; GET A JOB SIR!
  24. If I was a guitar player with a couple thousand bucks burning a hole in my pocket, I might have to pick up one of these things. Kind of long, but worth watching the whole thing.
  25. Thought this would have been posted by now:
