  4. This. Mine only went in for warranty work once (I learned super-auto grinders don't like dark, oily beans), and I've had it for about twelve years and counting, with many of its early years being my daily driver. The kettle frother is one touch and gets pretty close. So I mostly use it these days. My 19 year old really works this machine hard when he's home from school and did so through most of high school. Naturally, I'm the one that has to clean it. A friend of mine got to demo a Breville Barista model many years ago. He kept it at our office, and I was really impressed with the shots it pulled.
  5. My Gaggia has a wand on it. It works fine, but I don't love having to clean it (even though there's not much to it). Plus, it's a single boiler. So if I want to froth milk, then pull the shots into the frothed milk, timing can be tricky. I usually resort to the $25 frothing kettle, which works surprisingly well. You have to scrub what little milk burns onto the bottom of it, but it's not terrible. There's an auto-frother attachment for the Gaggia, but I just haven't bothered to get it. I tend to drink drip during the week and use the espresso machine on the weekends most often.
  6. Which Breville is it?
  7. At least it's not America.

  9. Came to post this. He was so fantastic. RIP Just a bunch of kids in animal costumes.
  10. Roll into Walgreens and get the shot. 1st shot has 93% efficacy. Second shot gets you to 97% 28 days later. No time like the present. /edit to add: make an appointment online to make it as short of an experience as possible.
  11. My primary doc told me the same thing ten years ago. I found a new doc pretty soon thereafter. My question that prompted response from her that had nothing to do with origin of the outbreak. Some people can't help themselves. Her practice morphed into a "med spa" peddling botox within a few years anyway.
  12. I've copied the requested language. Now I just need your phone number to send you a text in exchange for a check. Please and thanks.

    Gumbo

So the boy came home from UT this weekend, and I decided last minute to make gumbo, which is one of his favorites. Since this was a last minute call, to make it happen and be ready by the time he got here, I tried jarred roux for the first time. This is my story: 1. The stuff I got was like $4 for 16 oz ingredients looked like roux. It was nice and dark. 2. That stuff is in there like cement. With all the chiseling and heating it up to get it out of the jar, I could have just made a roux. 3. So usually, I do 1 cup flour to 1 cup oil. So two cups volume. 16 oz jar. Yeah, this is definitely a 50/50 by weight situation because that stuff was thick. Couldn't really get that sizzle on the veggies when I added them. 4. Overall, it tastes fine. But this whole thing was a rush job. So I used box stock as well. It's delicious, but it's not what I'm making when the dignitaries come over for dinner.
  21. Did he find a Golden Ticket inside a drumstick or something?
  22. Damn straight. If it's a typo, then it's "War on Christmas" awful. But if it's this, I'm fifty-one years old, and I don't understand.
