  1. 1) Berlin is one of our favorite cities in the world. 2) BUT, it's out of the way for your itinerary. With that fact in mind, I'd skip it (we didn't go to Berlin last time we were in Germany -- did a more southern-focused trip).
  2. Indeed.
  3. I mean, technically, that's WTF is wrong with you Wilco...but it's such epic dumbassery that we'll certainly allow it.
  4. Just remember....Alex Jones voices out loud the stuff that most MAGAs actually think. These are literally fucking insane assholes, and they run our country, functionally unchecked. We're a batshitocracy.
  5. 2, x, x, x, x ,1 Oh, like you hadn't already done it in your head.
  6. I've already set up my company....
  7. What's important is that all records of your airbag's deployment and the reasons for same will be automatically remotely deleted by Tesla, because oh no reason, they definitely don't have anything to hide. And if you say otherwise, you are clearly infected with THE WOKE MIND VIRUS. Why anyone would choose to do business with that fucking lunatic is a mystery to me.
  8. We're busy placing tariffs on shoes and such made in Vietnam. So, we're going to bring back....low-wage shoe-sewing jobs. We're also busy placing tariffs on coffee, and bananas, and other tropical crops, which we grow....functionally none of here in the US. But I guess we're gonna make coffee plantations in Iowa great again or something?
  9. But do you realize that this (lying and covering up massive failures) isn't what he/Tesla has done....IT IS WHAT THEY ARE. This is the fundamental nature of what every Musk enterprise is and how it operates. They are toxic, and should be avoided at all costs.
  10. The sooner that America realizes that ICE is not an immigration agency, it is instead "Trump's all-purpose secret police" with its entire mission being inwardly focused (targeting "enemies of the regime"), the better a chance we'll have. Stasi, the Gestapo, the FSB, what have you....they're here. They are called ICE. All of us who grew up reading books and watching movies where we recoiled in horror when we saw states with "secret police" who targeted the state's own residents for being disloyal to the regime and whatnot? We're here. It's our turn now. Wake the fuck up. ICE is not getting this tool so they can spy on some illegals hanging sheetrock. They are getting the tool so they can spy on Americans who the regime does not like. Remember how some people freaked out about FISA courts and warrants? This dispenses with even that level of formality and legal review. They are just going to use it. Then, in the endgame, the people they target with it are going to be disappeared. That's how secret police work.
  11. Yeah.....that ship has sailed, my friend. See this: And don't get me wrong, I find it heartbreaking. It makes me physically ill. To know that this nation is already lost for at least 1-2 generations. The hell we have entered is something we can no longer hope to abbreviate, or go around. There is no way but "through." And that path necessarily involves defeating -- by crushing -- the disease that put us here. We should have executed every officer who served in the Confederacy, and many of the enlisted men, and ALL of the leadership/politicians. We have to learn the lessons of history. You don't deal with piece of shit fascists by having conversations and understanding them. You have to crush them. Show them exactly as much mercy as they showed their enemies. Scratch that...show them LESS mercy than that. This is an existential fight. And all the absolute awfulness that entails. The sooner you realize that, the sooner we might have a fighting chance. I have kids too. It makes me want to puke knowing that this is their future. But that's what it is. Wishing it were different won't make any difference.
  12. Don't forget how bigly he won the stollen 2020 election. That's always on the agenda. It's like the free space on a Bingo card, just fill it in.
  13. I mean...yeah....they have literally said so. And a fuckload of MAGAs have said the same. And the President of MAGA repeatedly invading blue states with federal troops....FFS, if you're too stupid to see that we're already in a (relatively) low-intensity civil war, I can't fix your stupidity. Any historian worth a shit, objectively viewing what is happening right now, would conclude that we are in a low-intensity civil war.
  14. I will offer this....IF the Dems ever re-take the White House (I know, it will happen when unicorns fly and fart rainbows), the first act of the new POTUS should be executive orders freezing/rescinding all federal dollars spent in red states. Every. Single. Dollar. Including Medicare, medicaid, all of it. They want a Civil War. Let's fight it to win.
  15. Dude…ALL dogs are autistic. It’s part of their charm.
  16. So far, we’ve scratched out 1/3 of a limit. Real sporadic. But, seen at the lease…loooks like someone already bagged their limit:
  17. I mean, it sure seems like it comes down to that. Where is it going to earn me the most? One of the wildcards is the currency arbitrage: if I park $200k in a propery valued in pounds, and the pound keeps gaining on the dollar, plus the property appreciates, plus it earns rental income, it seems I CAN come out ahead. But that's betting that we can beat the market. And my concern is....I think the market is irrationally high right now, and we're heading for a fall (no CR, I just think too many forces are aligning at once: tariffs, inflation, stagflation risk, softer employment, recession indicators popping up, etc.). So, my lean is "if I can park some real value outside the American stock market (and outside of stock markets in general), there's value in that as a risk mitigation part of our portfolio. I mean, worst case scenario....long run, it's a paid-off piece of property that we can actually use as a residence for half the year.
  18. America. 2025. Peak toxic individualism: everything is a threat to me, and I have every right to take every step to "defend myself," and the rest of you can get fucked.
  19. Stuff like this reminds me that Bud Adams, worth hundreds of millions (maybe billions) died alone at home....and wasn't found until days later. Power, money, "prestige," all that shit.....and nobody fucking gives a shit if you are alive or dead. The things we worship as gods in American society are all the wrong fucking things.
  20. The amazing logic of Trumpers of "it's Biden's fault you made me vote for fascism" is EXACTLY -- not a little bit, but EXACTLY -- like the reasoning of an piece of shit abusive husband saying "it's your fault that I hit you" to his battered wife. "If you wouldn't have burned my grilled cheese, I wouldn't have lost my temper and knocked out one of your teeth. So, really, my criminal violence is YOUR fault." No, you fucking pieces of shit, the number of times it's excusable to vote for a fascist piece of shit who promises to install a fascist regime is exactly the same as the number of times it's okay to beat your wife for serving your soup too hot: zero point zero.
  21. Okay, a retirement financing type question. We bought a flat in Scotland for our son to live in while he's in school. He may live and work there another couple of years after as well (although once he's working, he'll pay us rent). Already has a flatmate paying rent (kind of a reduced rate, as it's his best friend). We took out a mortgage in the UK (denominated in pounds) - it's not huge, say $200k to work with example round numbers. Two new factors: (1) the mortgage had an adjustable rate after 2 years, so it's now gone up about 2.4%, and (2) I've got a chunk of money from my dad's estate. The plan is obviously to take as much as we can from my dad's estate and invest to build up more for retirement. But this flat is part of our retirement plan -- we can earn a decent cashflow from it renting it out to students (yes, we'll pay taxes in the UK on that income, but it's not a lot as our UK earnings will just be that rental income). Say we can both yield $20k a year long-term renting it out, AND stop paying around $20k a year in mortgage payments now if we just pay it off. So, the question is....do we (1) re-fi the mortgage for another 2-3 years at 4.5%, or (2) pay it off with cash from the estate, thus taking that mortgage payment off our plate, parking some money/value in the UK (denominated in pounds, with the pound getting stronger v the dollar every damned day it seems), and then have it free and clear? Remembering of course that it's real property, and part of our retirement planning portfolio. With, you know, maybe a long-term plan being to rent it out only to exchange students for the academic year, then it's vacant during the summer, so we can spend summers over there in a much more hospitable climate.
  22. Anybody head out this morning? The boy and I are going this evening. First hunt he’s been on in a few years (he’s been away at college the past 3 on opening day). He’s home for an extra week this year, so hopefully we can go 2-3 times.
  23. This is the correct move. When you see a female GOP official, or the wife or daughter of one, go into a women's restroom, report them for violating the law, and make them prove that they're not. You have a good-faith basis for your report: anyone associated with such shitbaggery is surely dishonest and hiding something.
