  1. talking about a QB being on the right side of a defense giving up 3 and 0 pts is an interesting tact. Completely ridiculous and oblivious of the dominant unit on those days, but interesting nonetheless
  2. Vasek had something like a 30-35% pressure rate. He has been good when he is on the field, that is also his issue. The best ability is availability and that is what he struggles with
  3. Arch is a playmaker and gun slinger. He is a Manning, but his is an Arch, not a Peyton. I am not sure he turns it over more than Ewers (17 last year), but he will definitely be more exciting. Bobby was saying Texas will need much better QB play to get back to the playoffs next year. I do think Arch has the skills to open up the offense more. Backside DEs cannot crash on the run with Arch's running ability. Arch will have safeties playing more flat-footed with his ability to throw deep and his desire to chuck it down the field. There will be some good and bad, as is the case with every 1st year starter. Most fans understand that. He needs to learn to slide and reign his desire to make the big play.
  4. Perhaps Terry is a generational talent. Perhaps he will be better than Oliver. Even if that is true, he will not make the same noise as a freshman. Justus Terry is not going to start his career in the American conference like Ed Oliver. Ed Oliver was a 5 star in a 2 star conference, that kills the comparison for production
  5. One thing that sticks out is Manning is willing to step into a throw and take a shot.
  6. Just different teams, pretending they are the same is just stupid Quinn was 2-1 vs OU. In those 3 games OU scored a combined 37 pts. In the 2 wins OU scored a combined 3 pts in total Sam was 1-3 vs 0U. In those 4 games OU scored 161 pts (40.25/game). That happens when you face QBs like Mayfield, Murray, and Hurts. Even when Rattler played, they scored 53 vs a terrible Texas defense.
  7. If you are comparing the Big 12 in the early 2000s to the Big 12 in 2023, it is not close. Forgetting SUH's domination and one of the best DL performances I have seen from a college player is an interesting tact. IF you are comparing Stoops OU team to Venables, it is not close. Pretending OU was a remotely capable with Davis Beville playing QB is peak Surly BS.
  8. Typical nonsense. Guy is a stud, but he does not have the proto-typical height. People are confusing what maybe an issue for his draft prospects with his ability to play in college. Ojo may turn out to be the higher drafted player, but Gerry said his career path is different from Turntine. Gerry was saying Ojo is probably going to need a couple years of development before he sees the field. Turntine will likely compete for a starting job early in his time.
  9. Sweat was 2019. Collins 2020. Murphy jumped him and was a 1st round pick. I agree about the useless. My point was Collins always flashed. He was consistent in 2023 in limited snaps. In 2024 he proved he could be consistent with starter snaps. Broughton really struggled vs the run most of his career. He played too high. I said he flipped the switch, because I dont think even the most delusional Texas fan would have dreamed he would have the 5th highest grade among all DTs this year. Somehow we are arguing and saying basically the same thing. Just another day on Surly.
  10. this run has been pretty insane. I think last year Sweat and Murphy were the top 2 rated DTs by PFF this year Broughton and Collins were top 5 PFF College on X: "Highest Graded Defensive Tackles from the 2024 Season⭐️ https://t.co/H6UGrdv5r4" / X I would love for this to continue, but it seems almost impossible
  11. Collins had a lot of talent in front of him. Murphy and Sweat were great in 2024. That is an example of how you would love every position to look.
  12. I think people under-appreciated how well he played in 2023. He was very good in limited time. He was being mentioned in the media prior to the season. The question was can he do it with start snaps. There was speculation that Broughton could get buried on the depth chart in the summer. 2024 SEC DT Rankings: Deone Walker, Tonka Hemingway Bulldoze Their Way to the Top
  13. I am sure they want to add 2 more, but that is not a given. It is a very hard position to add. Texas has been forced to bring in portal DTs but has not been forced to start them. This is a position where recruiting is of the utmost importance. There are very few high-end DTs in the portal. The ones you do find generally come with baggage and a high price. I have not delved into it, but I would guess DT is one of the worst portal positions for value. The best is probably WR.
  14. Dt has to be a concern. PFF had Collins had a high PFF grade coming into 2024 season, so there was at least 1 known. He played well and is likely a day 2 guy. Broughton flipped the switch and it going to be drafted. Both of those guys were 5 year players. Texas found depth in the portal. This year Shaw and Brevard set the floor. Texas is going to be reliant on under-classmen to step-up and set the ceiling. There is talent there, but you never know when the light will go on. I think they will flash, but can they be consistent vs the run?
  15. This is terrible.. It’s like comparing times from a someone who ran a 200m with someone that ran a 400m. You cannot believe this has any substance or logic behind it Quinn’s 2 wins were vs bad OU teams. 1 came with Uncle Rico at QB. That was of the easier games that year.
  16. Gerry been saying he is possible spin down candidate.
  17. This RB class is ridiculous.. If you draft a RB in the first round, you are a moron
  18. Fumbling can be fixed. I just haven’t seen enough “wow plays” out of the current stable of RBs. Players can improve, but usually you can see it early if a RB will be special. See more solid guys, than special
  19. you are special kind of cunt here is my post above:
  20. I remember that. Killer hit.
  21. This is dumb. 1st calling Sam a loser, put you straight in douchebag territory. The OU stuff makes me laugh. Sam went 1-3 vs OU. Those were 3 12 win teams (9-2 in the covid year). Lost a game when he put up 45 pts. In those 4 years OU lost a combined 8 games. Quinn is 2-1 vs OU. Those 2 wins came against OU teams that had losing records.
  22. Sam had the drunk evading the cops moves. It used to make me laugh, but he was effective. He was a killer in short yardage.
  23. this is nuts. You going after Sam's rushing average, while Quinn finished with -59 yards for his career? my bad I added up completion and not attempts. Read the wrong column Still 30 turnovers in 2030 touches vs 31 in 1275
  24. had multiple turnovers vs A&M with the OL dominating. He was just more mistake prone this year
  25. Quinn was pretty sold in that department until this year. 2022- 320 touches 7 turnovers. 1 per 45.7 touches 2023- 453 touches 7 turnovers. 1 per 64.7 2024- 502 touches 17 turnovers. 1 per 29.5 not doing the work, but guessing Quinn went from one of the best at taking care of the ball in 2023 to one of the worst in 2024
