just like doctors, lawyers have a variety of specialties. Unless you’re respected relative is an oncologist or cancer surgeon, I would give that the same value as me telling you who to use as your corporate tax attorney. I have never practiced in that field, and never will, and I rarely interact with anyone who does. Which is all to say if a respected oncologist is saying that - then it has to be taken into account far more than some random Doctor who heard a story about MD Anderson wanting to put someone in a research trial instead of standard care.
And then there’s that thing where whoever your oncologist is, he or she can’t force you to take any treatment you don’t want to take. I launched a shitty cancer surgeon because of his doctor God attitude- and I convinced my oncologist to give me a different chemo regimen than she wanted. None of us are slaves to a doctor’s whims. It’s just me, but the merits of the criticism seem unjustified when the patient always has the sole say in directing their care..
