  1. XFL to announce Bob Stoops as coach/GM of Dallas franchise Never count out Vince McMahon. Season starts in Feb. 2020, so if Bob plans to walk across the street after Jason Garrett goes bust next season, he would have to do so without coaching a game.
  2. I doubt any of them would deny Embiid is the #1 guy. You hopefully don't need a strict order after that, other than Simmons knowing that if he has a lane to the basket he is free to take it strong. He and Joel should continue to do a great job finding whoever else is open based on game flow. But I agree Butler could pollute the atmosphere, maybe even before the new guys take the court. Or maybe not until the offseason. Will be fascinating to watch.
  3. Just take those old records off the shelf! Saw a tweet a while back - go to karaoke and try to sing the first lyric over and over as the entire song, changing the cadence to fit the actual lyrics. It works really well with "Just take those old records off the shelf", you can get through the whole song on that line and if done right it's hilarious
  4. Great move if the Sixers can re-sign Tobias - otherwise that's a lot to give up for a half-season. Also PHI really needs what's left of the bench to play well starting immediately. Shamet, Chandler and Muscala all played roles in locking down wins while the stars got some rest. Getting the 2-3 seed in the East isn't going to matter much if everyone has dead legs by the second round because starters have to stay on the floor so much in Feb-March.
  5. Last year, Boras client Jake Arrieta didn't sign until March 12 and he got a pretty friendly deal from the Phillies, though it was much less than Boras was looking for earlier in the winter. Same with Moustakas who had to settle for a one-year deal last minute. My uninformed guess is that Machado will wait out Harper, because if Bryce doesn't take the Phillies offer they may have to really throw money at Manny to salvage the off-season. If Bryce does come to Philly, the White Sox may win Manny by default.

    Super Bowl LIII

That's what was so frustrating about watching this game. The Rams didn't make any significant adjustments. Hardly ever rolled Goff away from pressure, no misdirection, no hurry up offense. Not that it would have worked but at least break up the routine.

    Super Bowl LIII

Rams just aren't that great, neither were the Saints. Pats will have to punt occasionally but they'll pull away with TDs while McVay settles for a few epic FGs
  8. Just stroll around the Canal Shoppes at Venetian, you'll swear you're in Italy!
  9. I can't grasp how this didn't get shut down in advance on the music side. Blink 182's generic bailout couldn't have been the only warning sign, right? The talent booker admitted he was 21-22 and had no idea what he was doing. I would think most of the major bands would have forced the issue based on some combination of not getting paid upfront, not having verified flight/lodging information, not having equipment logistics confirmed, sound specs, etc. Just to name one, Major Lazer has 3.6 million Insta followers today - surely there was some back-and-forth with fans in the days before Fyre?
  10. It is begging for a sequel and I'm not sure what the holdup is
  11. Just took the Pacers apart in their own building. Now we face all the good teams in the west for a couple weeks. Gonna be a bumpy ride, especially with Embiid having back soreness. I just want to hold 3rd place until buyout season hopefully brings some depth like last year.
  12. Wetteland was the big signee for '97 but that team fell on its face and they bounced back to win division in '98. Great pitcher, but he never seemed to fit the fun culture of those playoff teams. In your face religion and kind of odd with media as I recall.
  13. Intensity ramped up toward the end of the first episode. I like that the flash forwards add interesting bits of information rather than fuck with viewers' minds a la Westworld. Lots of potential this season.
  14. Surprising end (Alshon rare fuck-up) to a surprisingly bad then surprisingly good Eagles season. I was furious they didn't let that go to the 2-minute warning. Scoring with more than like 35-40 seconds on the clock is basically ceding the game to the Saints anyway. Farewell to Foles for sure. Probably also Jason Peters, Brandon Graham, Jordan Hicks, Golden Tate (yes he was on the Eagles). Maybe Sproles but I bet he gets one more run. Back from injury: Wentz, DT Derek Barnett, CB Sidney Jones. Will need a RB and a pass rusher. Salary cap won't be an issue for at least one more year.
  15. Vic gets it. You would be sitting so pretty to be in the NFC champ game. Hopefully hosting the Eagles, y'all can root for us two weeks in a row!
  16. They could technically franchise Foles. But it's Wentz' team, despite the strong media/fan narrative that Foles is better. He might be, but he's also older and would wreck the salary structure of the roster going forward. It's bizarre, but Wentz wouldn't bring THAT much in a trade (maybe a couple #1 picks and a lower pick) and I'm telling y'all, Foles will not be a major FA target around the league. If he wants to start, he'll probably have to go to a shit team and won't have anywhere near his current success. The NFL is brutal
  17. Eagles will pay Foles the bonus, but he's not coming back in 2019 even if he gets playoff win(s) again. Combination of age and economics, and of course the presence of Wentz. Such a wonderfully bizarre career. I bet he isn't a big FA target around the league, either.
  18. I like the matchup for Philly. Trubisky won't torch the secondary, and Eagles are decent against the run. If we avoid strip sacks, etc. this will be a game to the end. Cowboys may hate it, but the Eagles just gave y'all a nice path to the NFC title game. MIN wasn't winning at Chicago next week, the Eagles at least have a legit chance. If it happens, DAL-SEA winner gets to visit LA Coliseum for the Rams' annual one-and-done instead of the Superdome.
  19. Per Yahoo! : Three members of the Alabama football team, including starting left guard Deonte Brown, will not be playing in the Orange Bowl according to a source. The three players didn’t make the trip to Florida because of a violation of team rules. Brown is believed to be the only starter impacted.
  20. Ohio State is the Trump of college football...fully committed to the scam and don't care how obvious it is.
  21. It's for 2019 but I'm fired up for The Faint comeback
  22. I wish him the best , but I hope Acho's not trying to develop some kind of Bayless/SAS character. Brags about being "one of the youngest national analysts on ESPN" and then throws out one unsubstantiated example of a bad ACL diagnosis, along with his own apparent mis-diagnosis, and that is somehow tied to Carson Wentz right now? And it has something to do with forcing injured guys to play? Every team has this discussion every year. Violent sport, players admit they do whatever they can to stay on the field and earn the paycheck before it's too late. Don't be weird, EA. And surely Surly can think of better reasons for a fuck the Eagles thread than this crap...
