  1. She is actually registered to vote, but now either has to show ID she doesn't have or fill out the Reasonable Impediment form to vote in person. She's been voting in elections for a long time, but now it's more difficult for her. Imagine that.
  2. Here's the answer. I am sure it won't be the last of these cases we hear about either. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/black-woman-rural-texas-unable-obtain-id-needed/story?id=80395815 Black woman in rural Texas struggles with process to vote, advocates say system is unfair Advocates say voter ID laws could disproportionately impact minorities. The lady who Cruz was attacking is in this article. She should have told this story. * DPS in neither Leon or Madison County has ever issued an Election ID card. Even if they tried, due to Covid now they can't walk in, but must make an appointment. The next availables for those counties are in 6 to 8 weeks. And most likely they won't have everything they need and have to make this trip several times, each time having to make a new appt. While on the surface it all seems legit and above board, but it underneath it just throws up more and more frustrating roadblocks to voting, which in turn makes people throw their hands up. So yeah, she should have told this story. SMDH.
  3. Beto ran a lot closer race than Hegar did. But then he ran against a horrible opponent. Hegar might have done better if Trump wouldn't have topped Cornyn's ticket. I honestly don't know what to do. Like Born said, its a circular thing. Not sure how to fix it.
  4. You are right. We aren't trying to persuade anyone. We are right now in a battle to keep them voting. But this attitude that they aren't worth any effort is harmful. And now in days of Zoom it's not that hard to at least be somewhat of a presence.
  5. Wow. I might as well dissolve into the sea of red around me, since my vote is a waste of time. I mean seriously why the fuck should even that 10-15% even vote at all? Fuck my feelings, right?
  6. Sorry, forgot for a moment how fucking insignificant we are in the rural areas. I was not saying the stump in every county. But at least some presence. The rural vote matters on statewide races and helps balance the gerrymandering. This idea that rural doesn't count is partially responsible for what got us here today. It's been a TDP unwritten mantra for several years now. Beto woke up a lot of rural vote in 18 with his barnstorming. But anyway.
  7. I like Collier. I've met him via Zoom on several occasions. He is personable and bright. That said, I really like seeing other good candidates coming forward. I like what I am seeing. I read in the Tribune article on Dowd that he'd love to work with Beto. Collier is saying the same. They don't seem to be too worried about him being a two time loser and all the other baggage some are concerned about. I look forward to seeing more of Dowd, Johnson and Collier running. That draws attention to the issues, the party, and shows that we have good people who can think, willing to serve as Texas Dems. Collier already has begun working to get more name recognition in the rural areas of the state. They are under a strong red assault now. And him announcing early and helping fight this crap will weigh in his favor for the rural vote. It's just good to see good people standing up and offering alternatives to the fascists we have in Austin presently.
  8. So I am not anywhere near as savvy as you lot in the intricacies of the game, but I enjoy your opinions. I know each player is different, but overall for the defense what are your takes on how much is it due to lack of athleticism/football savvy, unlearning old bad habits/schemes and positions (and picking up new, better ones) and coaching these guys up/scheming by the current staff? Something like 30% - 50% - 20%? I really don't know. But I am hoping it's more the middle one, and that number goes down as the season goes on.
  9. seemed to me Card got up a little gimpy after that scramble to the 1. Looked like a shoulder twinge to me. Hopefully wrong. I wonder if he felt Card might go portal and decided to call him #1 to head that off, feeling more confident that of the two Casey would be the least likely to bolt. And then he kept seeing all the line and other mistakes going on and kept Card in there to show confidence in him? I imagine all of that played into the decisions.
  10. From the outside looking in, you can't understand it. From the inside looking out, you can't explain it. Certainly this made perfect sense to aggy.
  11. That's racist, right? They modeled it off the Taco Bell program. My Popeye's was not too bad until this new app went into play. I've used it thrice with disastrous results. Walk up and drive up was confusing enough for them, this blew their mind
  12. This is the Bell County Republican County Chair. She's a full on GQP https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/unvaccinated-central-texas-bell-county/
  13. I'd really like to know what messages the TDP needs to be putting out. What is short and succinct and shows that's it's ok to be a Texas Dem? Not that the party is great right now, but there is just no message out there. Everything is reactive and not proactive. The TRP has a game plan, and they have some big money behind it right now. Even when you get your messaging right, especially in the rural areas the media or papers won't carry it. Social media is no go, since broadband is so sketchy. Any ideas would be appreciated. It's rather telling there is no strategy now that should be fighting back. But the bongo lapel pins will be collector's items! That is what they are afraid of and what was driving SB1.
  14. Not only white supremacy, but white male supremacy. In fact I think it's more about gender than race.
  15. cdd734159f25935e894982c56ee1f5d8.mp4 Maybe it should have gone in the FAAFO thread. Still good. Continue the MN lovefest.

  17. Rhinestone agenda. All bling and Jesus. Sure to drag rural votes and soccer moms. Can we add a wall on the Red River to keep out Okies and northers while we're at it? I mean Trump's wall is working wonders, right?
  18. i wish they would slip the vaccine into chewing gum and snuff. They don't give a shit about any other additives of substances that are put in them. Once that kid draws it's first breath, it's on its own. Bootstraps and all. GQP made sure they made it out of the womb, now it's their time to do their part. Or, I don't know, develop a decent online education program that kids can use when they do have to be quarantined at home. Maybe something like a cross between Sesame Street and the old Leapfrog systems. But I forgot, then you'd have to fund hi speed internet and give those ingrates computers too. Forget that. I'm really surprised that grifters like DeVoss haven't already started programs like this.
  19. Cruz is a politician. AOC is a states(wo)man. We need more statesmen.
  20. This shit right here. I could be mistaken, but I would think there would have been telescopes all over the place aimed at the moon during that period, and if they truly weren't there, someone would have pointed it out. But logic no longer counts. Give them a compass and point them west and tell them to keep walking until they get to the edge of the earth.
  21. This is a great demonstration between two polar opposites. #teamAOC Sorry, can't figure out how to imbed the video. 'Disgusting': Ocasio-Cortez reacts to Abbott's comments on rape victims https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2021/09/08/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-texas-abbott-abortion-ban-ac360-intv-sot-vpx.cnn
  22. Gonzales County sheriff dies following long battle with COVID-19, officials say Sheriff Robert Ynclan died Sunday from the virus https://www.ksat.com/news/local/2021/09/06/gonzales-county-sheriff-dies-following-long-difficult-battle-with-covid-19-officials-say/
  23. Would be interesting if you could compile the stats on selected tests. Like all of ours, then see the scattershot. And I agree some of the questions could have been worded better or split out better. Like "improving humanity through genetic mods AND abortion" Why not separate? Not like 101 is that much worse than 100.
  24. It's the poor country mouse vs the slick city mouse story. They don't want to understand you. They want their lives to seem better than yours. Whether it is or not. "Yeah maybe I live in a double wide, but it's mine, on my property and I can go outside and pee off the porch and no one can stop me. Try that in your fancy city apartment you don't own!" And that resentment has led to a rise in Trump's popularity. Now it's gone on to "I'd rather die than get the jab because this country is going to hell and Jesus is coming any day!" The problems in our state can be laid at the feet of the GQP. How do we get people to stop voting for them? If we don't understand why they do, then we can't help them or ourselves. Right now there is a very strong Republican push to solidify their hold on the small rural counties. Day before yesterday Sheriff Arpaio was in Medina County. That's Hondo and Castroville. They have had dozens of these events in the past 3-4 months all over Texas. They know that the voting power of the state resides in the bigger population centers. And they know that if the rural counties could turn out more democratic votes, then they are sunk. So these events are being held to bolster the red vote and intimidate the blue vote to stay home. Plain and simple. If we continue to discount or ignore the rural vote, then we do so at our own peril. The republicans aren't, they are filling that void, pretending to be the voice of blue collar. And that void is there because there is no message or support coming into these counties from the Texas Dems.
  25. Are we going to do the annual "donate $25 of pyro's money to someone else" side wager too?
