  1. Prob Carson Beck from GA since he’s likely gonna be the top heisman candidate
  2. Before, it was the previous years Heisman winner or the player that should have won it (Looking at you, Larry Fitzgerald). They did some occasional throwbacks at the end. Supposedly, Ollie Gordon is the highest rated player on the game at 99. I find that hard to believe. I’d love for Brooks to be on the cover, or Sweat and Murphy. If not them Ewers. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Shadeur because Deion is gonna wind up lobbying for that. I wonder if they will go with the regional approach for the cover for the first one back.
  3. Well, I'm okay with the hate as well. Either way, but then again, a lot of people hate the Cowboys, so how did they become America's team? They had some unique qualities that we might just see in UT as it rises from obscurity - starting with a couple of pretty cool QBs. Throw in a Heisman candidate RB (there'll be one), a great TE, a few beasts on the Defense - a team coming from one of the coolest cities in America, a mascot, colors, logos that just aren't the same old same old - and a team that retains some of the American flyover country aura... then comes the dynasty... and voila - America's Team II. There's probably a better name for it - that too is on the way. Put on your thinking caps. Well, I'm okay with the hate as well. 4. Ok, now I can finally talk. Sark mentioned to me last week that the offense will be two QB sets running, about 85 to 92% of the time, what he called "my super special trick-aroni TD play," -- snap to Ewers, backfield toss to Arch who throws it back to Ewers for the TD. In a first ever they're awarded a dual Heisman due to "exceptional kick-assery" before defeating Georgia in the national championship, 136 to 9. A slight disappointment from the regular season 294 to 3 game but nevertheless fairly satisfying for most UT fans. Then Ewers goes pro. Arch takes over. Horns go undefeated next two seasons, rinse and repeat. He said he didn't care if I spilled the beans here, as long as it was after the Ewers announcement. "Just let them all know this is all part of my master plan so that they'll shut the fuck up already. Thanks bruh."
  5. tons of reasons for Quinn to stay and why his draft stock isn't higher. he's behind a stacked class of upperclassmen that is more crowded than usual due to covid extra years (Penix, Nix), pro-style versus dual-threat types like CW and DM, NIL deals, durability, Quinn needs one full season without injury (he finally learned to slide), he's just 20 years old, unfinished business, improve mechanics. but to say he's not a stellar college quarterback is just dumb. if he improves next year like you would expect he will be a heisman front runner and put texas in the playoffs with a solid chance to make a deep run to a championship . now if he doesn't improve like that then we can revisit the difference between a stellar QB and a game manager.
  6. I don't necessarily disagree with anything in your post except the part where you call Ewers the frontrunner for the 2023 Heisman. He's on the 'watch' list, for sure, but the front runner? I don't think so. Based on Quinn's past health history, I fully expect Arch to get serious playing time next season when Quinn is inevitably sidelined with some kind of injury. EDIT: Well, fuck me. I see that Ewers is tied with Carson Beck and Jalen Milroe in current Vegas' betting odds for the 2024 Heisman. I'll go get my shinebox.
  7. It saddens me not only that there are so many stupid people...but that they choose to display their stupidity so publicly. Quinn is QB1. He's a RS-Soph returning as the Heisman frontrunner who had a season stat line of 272 of 394 for 69.0%, 3,479 yards, an 8.8 ypc, with 22 TD against 6 INT and a 158.6 passer rating, but, more importantly, a 12-1 regular season with a Big 12 championship and 0:01 and one misread pass away from playing for a national championship in a game where the other team had a nearly perfect outing until the very end of the 4th quarter. If you want Arch over Quinn for next season right now, you probably still think John Chiles should starts and VY should be moved to WR. Kindly go fuck your own faces so you can stop the noise pollution coming from your own mouths but, in any event, pretty please with sugar on top, shut the fuck up.
  8. Y'all in here really bitching about Quinn coming back? Really? I've seen a lot of dumb shit on this board but this is way, waaaaay up there. Ewers was good this year. Not perfect, but he improved dramatically from 2022. He's going to continue to improve and be great next year. He has legitimate Heisman potential. Manning isn't going anywhere. He will be QB2 and continue to learn and improve. Even if there were going to be an off season QB competition - and there won't be - he would not take Quinn's spot. The staff does not have a schedule for these guys that does not take into account variability. Guys get hurt, guys transfer, guys have developmental delays. The staff has shown they know how to handle it so maybe don't worry so fucking much. Goddamn guys.
  9. I think many of what the “insiders” were telling us was that QE never intended to stay past the 2023 season. He was going pro. Until injuries, inconsistent play and other QBs moving up on the draft board in front of him. He went from being touted as the best or one of the top 3 QBs in college and surely a first round QB to both of those not being the case. Hence why his camp was floating he might come back. Sark and the staff were aware of the QE not coming back for 2024 stuff for a while. Hell QE all but telegraphed it by the moves he has made since high school. He and his family were probably gobsmacked by the reality that he’s probably 5th QB taken in the draft and first round maybe not a guarantee. And shit I’d take that all day. Because you re likely to go to a better team with better owner, management and head coach. But if you just want the first round notoriety and the big time initial contract then by all means next year he is a shoe in. But I also think he wants a championship and real shot at the Heisman. Neither of those things are guaranteed. I just read a ton of articles and most have QE as late first round or second round pick. I tend to see those as accurate depending on the person writing. So most all of us and the staff thought this was QE’s last year. That Arch and possibly Maalik would compete in the spring. Or that Maalik would portal as Arch would be the front runner. No idea. But most people thought QE would be declaring for the draft right now. That’s the truth.
  10. Wait wait wait. So your contention is Quinn is mediocre, Arch might already be better so they should have an open competition that Quinn might lose, and also Quinn will definitely be a top 10 QB nationally next year and might contend for the Heisman? How the fuck does that make any sense?!?!?!?
  11. he’s going to return and he’s going to be better than he was this season. the only question is will he be a very good QB (top 10 nationally) or an elite, heisman candidate QB. i have stated that i think that Arch will be better faster than QE, but as you’ve said, only a fool wouldn’t be extremely happy with the prospect of QE returning for another season as the starter.
  12. Dude. Every qb that is ever going to be worthwhile looks like a Heisman runner up right out of the womb. Didn't you know?
  13. Penix played out of his mind. If he played like that all year the heisman should’ve won it. He was making insane throws. That wa slime lsu 19. Unreal. How were we even in this game and it wasn’t a blow out offense didn’t play great defense was shaky. But here we are a heart breaker. So damn proud of this team regardless. I feel for the players. The play calling was suspect but red zone has been all year so what do we expect.
  14. Doesn't Colt McCoy still hold the school record for interceptions, when he was a sophomore? Then he was a two-time Heisman finalist. What you're saying about the comparison between Quinn and Penix tonight isn't wrong. But it is comparing a finished product with a halfway-finished product.
  15. I can deny it. There's a good argument that Penix was robbed of the Heisman. He threw for 430 tonight in the second-best statistical performance by a quarterback in CFP history. Quinn probably beats him tonight if the CB doesn't make a great play on the ball at the end there, or if Jaydon Blue doesn't fumble, or the ball doesn't bounce off Muhammad's hands directly to Odunze. So lose the faux condescension and stop this sad attempt at a victory lap.
  16. Quinn out played 3 of the 5 QBs on the top Heisman 10 (with a win in the #6 finishers house) without getting real votes while missing 2.5 games. If he comes back he should be the betting favorite for the 2024 Heisman.
  17. If Ewers returns and they add a couple WR weapons in the portal is he the favorite for the Heisman next season? Almost the entire OL returning and some very good RBs.
  18. popular/reputable outlets have had him in their shortlist: sbnation, sports illustrated, and nfl.com vegas oddsmaker placed him anywhere from 3-5 early in the season: betmgm, fansduel, caesars in this thread, there have been people non-sarcastically flagging him for heisman people here and elsewhere have predicted it, but he's steadily fallen off from those predictions as the season progressed.
  19. Is QE going to win the Heisman this year or next? If he comes back, he probably goes first in the draft next year and will most definitely go on to have a better career than Tom Brady. So glad he is our QB 1.
  20. come on, man... QBs don't develop as fast as WRs, RBs, or DTs. Compare QB, CB, LB, and OL on a development timeline and you'll see almost all of our guys are on time. He looks like a 2nd year QB starter that has injured both shoulders. who is predicting him as a heisman? why are you angry that we finally have a good QB that isn't playing FB at the same time?
  21. i know, right? that was so weird when i fought back against the idea that sam was a longhorn legend, a heisman contender, and a future nfl qb. so weird. totally nonsensical! you’ve got me there guy. amything that goes against this forum’s wild fanboy nonsense is considered either radical or trolling, no matter how right those takes end up proving to be. sorry dudes, but someone refusing to take part in this unwarranted hero worship is neither of those things, it’s simply a differing, usually more fact-based opinion.
  22. I feel like I’ve been here before lol. Rick Barnes arguments had Derka on the other side of the coin tho, I mean no one did less with more than Rick Barnes but now Quinn is the guy who is carried by his supporting cast lol. Sam got the same kind of weird response out of Derka. I think Quinn needs to come back and win a heisman then go first overall in the draft. Put a magical end to his college career.
  23. You literally just said you were referring to "one guy". Is THAT your definition of referring to "one guy"? It's your fucking quote! "this thread is full of people talking about the heisman and calling him a Longhorn legend". Your desire to start shit exceeds mine by an order of magnitude. I wish the best for you, but man, you make it really hard sometimes.
  24. ^^^ THAT = me saying “everyone”? in what world dude? i mean @Dbeasy even put “everyone” in quotes, as if it was a direct quote from me. and this is what you come up with as proof that i’ve said that “everyone” in here has called him a legend, predicted the heisman, and foretold of his nfl success? motherfucker do you speak english? i’ll give it to you jj, your want-to when it comes to starting shit is off the charts. it’s your execution that so often leaves a lot to be desired.
  25. I personally hope like hell Quinn comes back, as it would be best for his long term career. I would love to see him adding a little weight (muscle) to his frame. He needed to lose weight for quickness and endurance last off season, and I think another season at UT would help his long term prospects. That being said, the kids got a great arm and would be a great backup in the NFL. But if he wants a fast track to actually being a starter? Another year in burnt orange is a no brainer to me. NIL helps a lot in all likelihood, in allowing some flexibility on this decision. I think add 10 pounds of muscle, stay healthy, and play to his potential, and I don't see how he's not on the Heisman short list? What experience brings is consistency, and while Quinn has gone through 3 spring trainings (1 at OSU) and is finishing off his second year as a starter consistency is pretty much the only criticism. I do think that NIL brings out more boobirds, which were already there to begin with. But in both the Alabama and Tech game we saw what the top end of Ewers potential is. And lucky for us it's really fucking high. I must admit, I had hoped for more consistent consistency. I also realize injury has hobbled him. But I am also concerned he may have played dinged and gotten himself into worse trouble? That's what I thought at the time. But I can't crap on a kid wanting to finish out a game, it's what all competitors want to do. My dream is that Quinn is healthy, plays another lights out game this weekend crushing Okie State, and we actually get a shot at playing two more games (prayers, fingers crossed, deals with the devil entertained). The only way that happens is if Quinn puts on a show!!! I know he can do it, and if we can keep our defense fresh I think we can get some style points in the Championship game (prayers, fingers crossed, deals with the devil entertained). If my prayers are answered it will be Ewers largely writing the sermon. You have to think last week's game has given Ewers additional confidence, and likely made the whole team even more confident. IMHO Ewers having a fantastic game is probably the most important style point, we can have beyond a lopsided score to get into the big dance. Everything seems to be coming together at the right time as far as opportunity. Now it's just time to go out there and fucking take it! Hook'em The only downside to my dream scenario is we likely lose Quinn. But that is a price I am willing to pay. ((prayers, fingers crossed, deals with the devil entertained)
