  4. After all, might have posters living in the EU, and Surly could get fined by the EU for non-compliance. I'm kidding, I don't think that would be an issue for Surly, but I've been having to deal with this shit on a few websites (or fielding questions) for the past few months, so I'm going to bitch since the deadline is this week.
  5. From 2021-22 Season. https://www.kxan.com/news/local/austin/no-one-beats-the-texas-longhorns-in-terms-of-making-money/ AUSTIN (Austin Business Journal) — In the Lone Star State, college football isn’t just a sport; it’s a way of life. Texas boasts a proud football tradition with universities investing huge sums to build and maintain competitive teams. According to data from the Department of Education, it’s evident that the deep pockets of Texas universities play a crucial role in their football programs. These revenue figures are from the 2021-2022 season, the most recent applicable data available from the Education Department. It’s important to remember that college sports were in their first seasons in the wake of the pandemic and that these figures are likely diminished due to the limitations of those seasons. Still, the wealthiest programs remain dominant. Read the full story online at the Austin Business Journal. Source site: https://ope.ed.gov/athletics/#/ You can use the link to compare different schools. I compared Texas to aggy and Ohio St. We kicked the shit out of both. Texas (A) to aggy (B).
  6. this may actually be the worst story i've read on gambling in a long time. Im NOT mad at the guy betting on Tiger and winning $1.2M. A lot of people bet on Tiger so thats pretty awesome. What I am mad at is the circumstances this guy went about betting on Tiger, and how the story is presented as a feel good story. But once you read into it, and its a terrifying story for this guy if Tiger had lost. This is literally the guidebook to how to become a broke gambling addict. whole story is below, but the gist is, this guy was $25k in debt just 4 months ago. Hit business went under, and its not explained how he managed to get out of $25k in debt in the last 4 months. He claims that he's never made a sports bet in his life, yet, he bet every last dollar he could "afford" on Tiger winning the masters because he had a good feeling. (afford is in quotes because it turns out this guy couldnt afford the loss) He's taken a loan out on his house, sold his amazon stock, and he's told his wife he's making the bet, and she just lets him do it. and then he takes $85k with him to Vegas and has to run around to find a sportsbook that will take a bet of that size, and finally William Hill accepts the bet and presto we all get the story of how this guy got 14/1 odds on Tiger winning and $85k turns into $1.275M https://ftw.usatoday.com/2019/04/masters-tiger-woods-bettor-james-adducci-who-won-million
  7. Amazon had an add-on for AMC+ for 2 months for $0.99/month. I had seen good reviews of this show and decided to check it out. Ben Whishaw as an ob/gyn at a NHS hospital in London, set in 2006. He's very good in it. His trainee is pretty good too. The hospital scenes are kind of kinetic and claustrophobic and some of them fairly graphic and disgusting. There is some breaking of the 4th wall that's pretty funny. 3 episodes in and I'm enjoying it. The only downside for me is the storyline about Whishaw's mom not accepting that he's gay is kind of tedioius. What year is this?
  8. After 15+ years of private practice, it looks like I may have an opportunity to go in-house with one of our current clients. Anyone ever done this? Thoughts? Regrets?

  15. As background, my father was raised Southern Baptist, and my mother was raised Church of Christ. When they got married my mom adopted the Southern Baptist tradition. My mom's mom (grandma) believed that her daughter (my mom) was going to hell for switching from Church of Christ to Southern Baptist, simply for accepting the use of musical instruments as part of a worship service. She even went so far as to condemn my older sister and me to hell for also being raised Southern Baptist and letting the Devil's instruments be a part of our church experience. This isn't a joke: she directly told me as much. The point is that, early on, I've been told by close family members that I was bound to an eternity of suffering and hell-fire. Growing up in the Southern Baptist church had its challenges. For one, I recall the fire and brimstone speeches. For another, I remember the rank hypocrisy associated with "just ask for forgiveness and you'll be saved" which led to the attitude of "do what you want and ask for forgiveness later." One of the most striking moments was when the Youth Minister demonstrated souls going to hell by turning a lit candle upside down to show that each wax drop was a soul going to hell. What shook me out of it was an evening when I went to a county fair with a few "weird" friends and being confronted by the most sanctimonious asshole you could ever imagine. He was a couple years older and was a Youth Minister wannabe. He put his arm around my shoulder and tried to lead me away from my friends when he asked me "I see the people you associate with. If you were to die tonight, would you know where you were headed?" Obviously, my friends didn't meet his specs and, therefore, my everlasting soul was at risk. I told him "no and neither do you." It should go without saying that I wanted to hit him (plus, his name was "Taft"), but the line of questioning was so unexpected and bizarre that I just walked away. So, yeah, that was the moment I decided that organized religion wasn't for me. Over time, the entire notion of God and religion became an anathema, which held, at most, a slight superstition over my actions. Today, I'm happy to report as "God free." Unfortunately, now, I have my two aging parents who both believe that I'm going directly to hell. While I obviously don't agree, it hurts to know that they believe themselves to be failures and to also think that I somehow deserve eternal condemnation. The craziest part of it is my stated beliefs and not my actions. I could go rob a bank tomorrow, kill a couple customers, and then have a deathbed conversion. Then, they'd think I was worthy of God's love. Instead, I'll go to work tomorrow, doing something that I believe helps our society, and will be promptly condemned to eternal damnation and suffering. So, how many people think you're going to hell?
  16. Hey, guys. I don't know where to put this, but my cousin was in a car accident in November of 2017, and his bills have amounted to over $800,000. I'm doing a go fund me to try and help him out, but not sure how to go about it. I've posted on fb, Instagram, Twitter, etc, but would it be ok to post it here? Any and all help would be appreciated. He's paralyzed from the waist down, broke his back, and shattered his spine L1-L3. He needs help with learning to walk again, seeing a pain management doctor, help with medications, so he's needing help with funding for a good physiotherapy place. He's an amazing person, as well as a Longhorn fan. If this isn't the right place to post, please let me know. If it is, here's the go fund me I set up for him. Thanks, guys. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-with-me-learning-to-walk-again&rcid=r01-156337386233-63e4694c57694dcb&pc=ot_co_campmgmt_m

  19. So a buddy of mine is graduating from grad school next May and afterwards me, him, and few of our friends are going to Vegas to celebrate and we're also going for a week long bachelor party. Long story short, one of the guys in our group wants to go to an oxygen bar because he says inhaling flavored oxygen is healthy and he wants to try it because it's "outside of his comfort zone." My only response to him, "any bar is an oxygen bar if you think about it, dude." He also wants to go to a deprivation tank instead of a strip club. Smh.... Thoughts?
