I never expect a college kicker to make every 50+ FG. The numbers dont back that. it is coin flip at best. It was amazingly lucky Bert had a chance at that FG. Then is was unlucky that he hit it and a penalty made him re-kick that. College kicker going 4-5 inside of 50 yards is not a terrible game, but feel free to shit on him if you must.

I don't shit on our current players. However, I will drop a critical comment occasionally about Jontay Cook.

I do feel for Quinn. He was so fucking solid vs. Michigan, and deservedly in the early season Heisman talk at the time. Then he comes out on fire vs. UTSA (I feel like 14 of our first 15-16 plays were passes) and was on his way to a 250-300 yard first half. Post-injury he just hasn't been able to find that juice again.

I feel for him to, he was playing well, been gutting it out since and then you got "fans" like we have in here shitting on him. People need to be better humans. It is never as bad or as good as your emotions lead you to believe.

Quinn is going to go to the NFL where pretty much everyone has a running game and O-lines don't bust protection frequently and be just fine. He isn't a runner but he can throw on the move and is really accurate in the intermediate and quick game. On a team that can't consistently run the football he struggles but that dude looks like a world beater when he gets good blocking and the defense has to respect the running game. We are mad at him for not being able to play hero ball but that's not what the NFL wants from a QB.

Do you watch NFL at all? Quinn’s shit pocket presence, mechanics, and lack of mobility will get him crushed.

No fucking way he makes any plays that Joe Burrow makes behind that shitty Bengals OL

every QB in the league makes  plays with their legs and extends plays using their legs.

Off schedule plays made are what separates QBs in that league.

You take the criticism too seriously. We are all Texas fans. We're on a message board and like to argue. Every single person here wants Quinn to be the man and lead us to a NC this year. But some of us are not gonna put our heads in the sand when you see consistent issues that stand in the way.

I can be a shitty poster too but at least I'm in here trying to defend a seemingly good kid from grown assholes looking down their noses because he isn't living up to their high expectations. But, but NIL he is making. So what, get over yourselves. Any Texas QB in this era is gonna make bank and slay all the pussy he wants. Haters gonna hate I guess.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty confident QE will be the highest drafted QB since VY. I'm sure this place will love that.

Colt was like mid-3rd round? That’s probably around the over/under for Ewers.

It will be so much harder for him in the NFL. The fact you can't see it is not surprising. O-lines don't bust protections? Everyone has a running game? What? Do you watch the NFL at all?

His path to NFL success IMO is to 1. get drafted by a good organization 2. Sit for 1-3 years 3. Work very hard on fundamentals 4. Learn how to avoid hits/pressure.

He physically wouldn't last one quarter in the NFL if you threw him on a team today.

Texas defense has been top 10 in FEI for 3 straight years. Offense has never finished higher than 17 over that period.

Pass defense sucked ass, I don’t care what any adjusted stat says. It was the weak point of the team. Teams couldn’t run the ball. But it certainly seemed like Texas couldn’t stop a high school passing attack most of the time.

Running a poll then, I don't buy it. If true there are more dumbasses in here than I thought.  If we don't make it to the NC game it will be because our run game got bottled up again, not Quinn Ewers.

Serious question -

I don't watch Sark's presses because all pressers bore me. Has any of the media whipped out their clits and asked him specifically why he doesn't use Arch? Because now Finebaum is like wtf is this guy doing not using a mobile qb who can score?

This is what Quinn was facing vs Georgia. That's 11 out of 18 3rd downs of 9 yards or longer. This is what you were expecting him to overcome. He won't see this in the NFL. BTW we were 57% on the 3rd downs NOT 9 yards or longer.

85th overall. Quinn has a higher upside than Colt. Don't forget Anthony Richardson was a first round draft pick. That is just a recent example of dumbassery.

It’s not even a hot take to say that about Sark and his lack of use of Arch. Even Sark himself admits he should have used Arch more.

Once you are on campus star rankings mean fuck all. They never get brought up in the NFL. I understand some think he isn't living up to expectations but damn, we are in a much better place now than before he got here. That wasn't all him either but he has certainly played his part. I will go ahead and apologize to all longhorn fans that I am sorry Quinn Ewers has failed to live up to your individual expectations.

The overall team is much better.  The O-line is better.  The receivers, the defense.  What I want to know if why QE is still making the same costly mistakes now, that he was making last season?

hmmm, if that is true, it is no wonder why the same team keeps winning the super bowl with a relatively mediocre overall roster.

Holy revisionist history. Sam, while a longhorn legend and a brief glimpse of hope amidst a decade of pure QB trash, was nowhere near great. We're not in the Big 12 championship last year with Sam & let's not even start with David Ash. This is aggy level of delusion/wishcasting. You can point out all the flaws with Quinn you want, there are plenty to choose from, but that shit is just absurd.

Are you honestly saying all else being equal, both QB's get to play with this year's team, that the QE team beats the Ehlinger team?  No way.

O-linemen get beat but they usually get their hands on the guy momentarily. Mostly teams get to quarterbacks by blitzing and in the NFL the receivers know what to do. NFL teams don't run slow developing, back to the field double screen pass fakes with any regularity. They usually just drop back and throw it. Which is what Quinn is good at. There are a lot of curls, stops, comebacks, and outs. They try to get the ball out quick. Usually in the NFL if a rushing attack is stymied its because they committed numbers to it which leaves you vulnerable on the back end. Nobody in the NFL is stoning a running attack with a 3-3-5 flyover. I don't know if you have been paying attention but teams are keeping their safeties back and still handling our running game vs 12 personnel. You don't see those kinds of things in the league. You also don't see teams in 3rd and forever for most of the game and expecting their QB to bail them out. In the NFL 3rd and long is pretty much understood unless you can throw it short and the guy can make an individual play, you are likely punting.

Oh god, you're 100% correct about his face. I was just saying that yesterday even he came out after others to question why Sark is being stubborn and holding himself back by not using Arch.

It's not like Arch can burn his RS. It's like he has 1 package per game (if he even decides to use it). We saw what he could do against aggy, and I have no doubt he could have done the same against UGA at the very minimum instead of relying on a kicker who can't get out of his own way.

besides mahomes, there are very few players on the chiefs i would pick up from last year or this year. i don't think this is a particularly controversial point.

what do you think the chiefs' record is this year with no mahomes? what do you think the chiefs' record is if you trade every player on the chargers for the chiefs but keep mahomes? maybe kelce the exception...and eventually worthy.

but to say the nfl doesn't look for hero ball from qbs when this entire century's list of champions has been utterly dominated by two quintessential hero ball qbs is kind of funny. but it is true that nfl gms are all fucking idiots.

Let's also not think that Sark is the only one clutching to their starting QB pearls.  Kirby HAD to make a switch and it arguably won them the game.  Kid's not going to be able to continue to do that with tape out on him, but for that one game, it mattered.

I damn sure hope Sark is working on formations and schemes that utilize both Arch and QE.  Ewers is more experienced and it better at intermediate routes.  Arch is bigger/faster, can run, is inexperienced, and throws a better deep ball.  At the very least, use him like Tebow before he took over the starting job.

Sark gets in his own way too often. He gets too cute when he doesn't have to. he doesn't break tendencies when he should. Sometimes it looks like he loves the smell of his own farts too much. His offense also historically relies on a more bruising RB that can handle inside zone. We only have one RB who likes to not fumble. It creates a major problem for this offense. He needs to find some alternatives being the guru and all. We have run the ball much better in pistol lately for instance. I'm just afraid we are limited by our running game, hopefully it all works out.

And we have hung our hat on Outside Zone which DOES NOT work vs disruptive fronts like Georgia's.

For what, your fantasy football league?

They have one of the best defenses in the league, hosses on the O-line, especially the interior.  Pacheco runs mad as hell, and their receiver corps over the years on the SB teams have been great.  Everyone uses the same excuse they did with Brady - that he was superman surrounded by a bunch of spares.

I’d say in the past yes. But the last two years haven’t been great in regards to their receivers

Yep.  If only we had a mobile QB that could make plays if/when they break down with his legs.  This is why QE has regressed.  Happened last year when Brooks went down.  Teams sell out to stop the run, disguise their coverages, and dare QE to beat them.  Same as this year.  Hell, if QE would just step up and into the pocket and possibly run for 3-4 yards it completely changes things.

Georgia has too much speed, the LBs and safeties will run it down even if you get the line blocked. Most of our effective running plays were fairly quick hitters out of the pistol.

They adapted, leaned on their defense, run-game, and Mahomes making plays with his legs.  Kelsey is still a HOF TE, even if he's long in the tooth.  That's the point.  They are good enough to change how they attack other defenses.
