Did I see something about Jake Paul now wants to fight Anthony Joshua?

I think it’s officially happening next month.

December 19th, 8 rounds, 10 oz gloves. No rehydration clause. Paul might actually die

After watching Tyson pull punches - why would people bet on Joshua??

i mean, if this were an honest fight then joshua wins by ko in round 1. i truly do not understand how this is what boxing has become. you have bud crawford, a fighter who is >>>> floyd mayweather (the last true boxing star), who just retired to basically zero public notice or fanfare. meanwhile the biggest fight of the year is one where it can only be competitive if it’s 100% rigged. i’m too old for this shit.

As much as I agree it’s probably rigged, I don’t see much incentive for Joshua to go out and not compete. If this fight is anything but a win by KO his career is officially over.

Yeah, totally agree.

I wonder what time they will have the main event

Earlier they were saying 10:30ET. How has the rest of the card been? Just walking in from a Christmas Party.

Silva KO'd Woodley.  Bumgartner v. some other gal is the co-main and on right now.

I don’t understand the play for Paul. The play for Joshua is a massive payday. If it’s a fair fight and Paul is mauled, whats the future interest in Paul?

Paul is in trouble financially.  Not that he's broke or anything, but his farcical fights against the likes of Tyson, Silva, etc. haven't been selling/doing well.  He owes Netflix content.  Deal with Gervonta fell through so he needed somebody quick that would cause a splash.  AJ is that guy.

Also, let's not pretend it ain't par for the course for boxing to see some wildly overmatched dude get his head knocked off.  Except most of those guys get paid peanuts and Paul is going to clear $50+ mill.

Any real damage from boxing comes from repeated and sustained head trauma.  One big shot putting you out ain't great for you, but you'll be fine.  Ngannou got sent to the shadow realm by AJ and he's fine.  Paul will be, too.  I imagine the ref will be quick to jump in and stop it once AJ starts landing some good ones.  Paul gets to say he fought a real fighter and wasn't scared, AJ gets a fat payday for an easy tuneup before his real fights next year, win-win for everybody.

I didn’t realize the money wasn’t what it seemed for Paul and that makes a lot of sense. I mentioned to a fellow hater at work today that I thought Paul might be looking for an explainable and relatively graceful exit from his boxing “career.” Get thumped by a real fighter. Prove you aren’t scared but also make it so no one is interested in watching you anymore. Fin.

Extremely stupid. Very big Idiocracy vibes. I kinda hate myself for watching but want to see Paul hurt.

Is Joshua limited in the contract in how many punches he is allowed to throw each round?

Like he refuses to throw a jab. He's pawing and hasn't committed to a jab yet in 3 rounds.

He’s always been shitty working his jab and has relied on power punching. Look how uncomfortable he looked in Ruiz 2 when he tried to jab the whole fight.
Lack of jab has always been the book on him

Ahhh. If he has no jab then where the fuck is the aggression to throw power punches. Hit him anywhere.

Joshua can't even hit a standing still target against the ropes huh

He used to be a pretty good fighter, man.  That 2nd fight with Usyk he was phenomenal, just couldn't get over the hump against an ATG.

Doesn't help that his opponent is pulling every trick in the book to avoid having to fight.  Running, diving at his legs, faking nut shots, etc.

lol this seems like watching WWE at this point. Idiot referee and everything.

No state should sanction Paul going forward.

The referee is a joke
