2020 Democratic Nominee

Then call it the McConnell Era or “the last 15 years” - name dropping Obama was a deliberate appeal to those mysterious centrists and the nonexistent “good faith” conservatives Pete is courting.

As far as “bad faith” readings of headlines and media clickbait blurbs misrepresenting a candidate - Beto would like a word.

Yea, because that would really help Pete with the minority vote.  I think most educated folks can understand what he was trying (and failing) to say, but damn, if that's not an unforced error.  He already can't get minorities to back him, this ain't gonna help.  It'll be over and through the news cycle by Tuesday....until it's brought up on TV or at the debates over and over again.

He’s not going to offend many people in Iowa and that’s all that matters.  Pete’s likelihood of resonating with black voters was well beyond repair before this.

Pete tends to throw on his intellectual/pundit hat when speaking with print and online journalists. Context and nuance are in peril when it comes to written pieces about him. He’s got be more careful with his wording in that environment.

More TV, less print is probably the best way to go for him.

This is true and just one more reason I'm about to hop on the ledge w/ Brisket.  Dems are morons.  Only a party full of idiots could make the 2020 election close.  Any competent party could put up a candidate that would wipe the fucking floor w/ Trump's orange wig.

Such weird framing that Americans voting for Trump is somehow always the democrats fault and not the morons that vote for him.

The media has already fucked up the framing of the 2020 race by viewing through the prism of “which democrat is the most electable?!?”

The 2020 race is a referendum on Donald Trump.  The American people get to decide if they want to fire Donald Trump.  This is the heart of the election.  The bullshit “electability” should be an afterthought right now.  But media gonna media and pretend this is going to be a close race regardless if the democrats nominated Barack Obama again.

Hey, if I have to eat crow on this, it'll be the tastiest plate of crow ever.  Unfortunately, I don't believe that'll  be necessary.

If you’re wondering how a primary works, this is the answer.

And, yeah, Beto is done but he also got shit on for “born for it” (didn’t say it) and multiple other statements. And all of that followed him for months.

Pete didn’t start getting extra criticism until he -

1 - started attacking with snarky sound bites, “shiny objects” and “pocket change”

2 - moved to “palatable moderate” and started trying to draft off of Biden’s center lane

It’s not a coronation. It’s a competition.

Ok, let's hash out the Beto situation so can move on.

His campaign went downhill shortly after he announced. He never really polled well outside of Texas, and besides his announcement day he couldn't really raise any money.  His commitment to gun control activism after El Paso was awesome and admirable. Outside of that, there isn't much to say about his campaign.

Beto was never a threat to win the nomination. Most of the attacks I saw on him came from Republicans. He shied away from media appearances early on and it was a massive mistake.

The shit Pete is getting right now is dominated by people that vote Democrat. It's a different situation.

EDIT: That said, I do appreciate how much you supported Beto and the work you did on the ground for his campaign.

This is a lie.

All the irrelevant and exaggerated crap about “born for it” and standing on tables and he calls his wife a baby sitter and he only cared about guns after El Paso and he’s a slacker live-streaming his dentist appointment came from supporters of other Democrats in the primary.

The Republicans were pushing the fake Mexican bit and calling him Robert Francis.

All the other stuff I mentioned started as snark from pundits on CNN and MSNBC and then spread by other democrats.

And the concern trolling about “Please run for Senate Beto!!! Don’t let your ego get in the way!” was also 100% driven by Democrats.

Don’t give republicans undeserved credit.

see, that's the bigger issue here (an overall issue, not a bama chick issue).  pete gives a lot of access, and talks to a lot of reporters.  sure, these unedited excerpts get released (read the small print!) but mostly the reporters/twitter pundits find a phrase they want to highlight, then they make their tweet about that, which predictably gets a bunch of pete-haters to pile on and attack.  it also makes other "journalists" go to fellow candidates with a "quote from pete" that misrepresents (or at the very least, avoids context for) what pete says, and gets others to react to it, making it into a "thing".

over the past few months, pete has gotten a ton of hate/criticism from people who are committed to other candidates (either supporters or staffers).  those out there who are still learning about all the candidates have been reacting very well to him.  we saw this up close after the last debate.

Lot of troof in this statement.

finally watched this video, and saw a whole segment on cnn about it.  while framed as a mild hit-piece on pete, it's really a significant hit-piece on voters who still won't vote for women.  and if the polls are to be believed, women are more to blame than men.  so dumb.

That's how I interpreted it as well.  More an indictment that there's a large segment of our population who won't vote for a woman.

In a separate question, only 2 percent of likely Democratic primary voters say they would definitely vote for former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg if he got into the race, while 37 percent say they would consider voting for him, and 54 percent say they definitely would not vote for him.

Tulsi would do well in NH because it is a state with a lot of primary voting "independents" who don't like the Democratic Party or what they stand for.  And if you are independent/undeclared, you can vote in the Democratic Primary in NH.

Yes, NH is her best early state polling by far.
