That location looks horrible for Caesars.  I'll be there Wednesday night so I'll check it out.  To be honest, the new room at PH looks great (on an upstairs level) but I never played there too much back in the day when it was on the main floor of the casino.  I'll check that one out as well this weekend.

so note to self...

I dont fucking care if I win the lottery when its $2B.... I just cant possibly play the big game at the lodge....

heres a huge Mariano video, in which they all play extra spicy Hustler Million game style ( even though most have $200k or less in front).

but then the stream ended and everyone is racking up to leave the room and something bonkers happens

start at exactly 50 mins on the dot.

  Reveal hidden contents

Taras fucking announced does anyone want to flip for my stack?  (~$200k).... he gets a huckleberry whose got $125k to say yes... and these fucks  full on 1 card at a time reveal it as a Omaha hand.   literally playing for 125k each on basically a coin flip.

People like Taras are just degenerate gamblers, you can tell by the way he plays.

I have never considered myself a gambler, I don't like going to casinos or playing anything but poker, which I don't really consider gambling. It's also why I don't really care for cash games, I enjoy tournament poker which is more fun even though you make more money (probably) playing cash games. For me it's about the entertainment value and the potential payoff at the end is just icing.

Confirmed suckage at Caesars.  I didn't play since I was showing a couple of 21yo's around for the couple of days we were there.  Looks to be like 8 tables or so with 4 or so tv's.  Looked like playing in a cave.  If you like playing in isolation I guess you will not be deterred but I like the "openness" of the old room and others that are open to the casino.  I'd be surprised if it lasts more than 6 months but I guess if they don't have a tenant for that space then it would just come down to payroll to staff it determining if it makes any money or not.  Another concern would be drink service since they are nowhere near the casino floor for a rotation but since I didn't play I don't know if they had it or not.  If not, that would be the death knell.  Also noticed that there was two or three tables in the left-front portion of the Sportsbook where they looked to be playing tournaments - no idea why they would do tournaments there.

Didn't get over to PH to check out that room unfortunately.

I’d guess many of us far prefer an isolated room rather than being out in the open casino. Smokers and slot machines are annoying as fuck

The old Wynn room was perfect in that regard, imo. Comfortably away from the casino floor, but obvious to passers-by and in between the clubs and the parking garage for funneling in fish

This is why I despise Winstar.

Hard to say I guess? Can't imagine they are struggling too badly.

They did, hilariously and predictably, walk the $5 checkin back already. Told my wife the second I read it that there would be a meltdown and they would walk it back. So they just negatively impacted their perception and goodwill for no gain. What did they think was going to happen, people were going to say "oh cool, I get to stand in a different line and pay $5 every time I come in, sounds good"? How does that either not get filtered out by someone with a brain, or if they actually have to charge it to be viable, they just plow through the backlash.

There is a link on their calendar to the Poker Atlas listing which has structure and a live clock. Were you just meaning on their website only?

I mean, yes? When I go on their website and they have a tourney calendar and I click on a tourney in the calendar I should see the structure.

On their site right now, literally zero tourneys on the June calendar. Not super helpful if I wanna plan. I then clicked the “view poker atlas” button.

Once I found the June 1 tourney, click it. The structure is greyed out, can’t click it. Useless.

Seems more like pure greed to me. I can't imagine they're losing money.

They are banking.

They have a handful of tables that run 24/7 and have 20-30 tables running 6pm-2am each producing around $100 an hour

Just from 6pm-2am they are getting $100 * 20 * 8 = $16,000 in revenue * 30 days in a month = $480k / month = $5.7 million / year

Plus all the tournaments and tables during off hours.

I wonder how related it is to the number of fish in the pond, so to speak. They have 5 owners that are famous poker players of varying levels of notoriety, and who knows how many other owners/partners/investors that aren't publicly known.

Poker Atlas has a new update and now asks for payment to see player names on table signup lists, and to have names longer than three letters. I've only scanned the app, so there might be more features behind the paywall. Deeeeep Siiigh. Also didn't realize till today that TCH is $13/hr in Austin. Price of poker is going up it seems.

The inelasticity of BBs relative to inflation and rake has always been interesting to me. Players want to play $2, $5 and $10 BBs but those games are now effectively worth much less to players than they were 10 years ago

Yeah that change to Poker Atlas was really screwing with me yesterday as I was driving in to play at TCH. Didn't know about that as I hadn't played in around a week or so. Kinda stinks that the hourly went up to $13, I was there for around 2hrs before one of the dealers said something about it changing at the beginning of this month. It has been quite awhile though since going from $8 to $12.

I knew I was gonna be there awhile so I took advantage of the 9 hrs for $99. You can do that everyday this month so if you know you're gonna be playing a quite a lot, it's good to take advantage of. At least that is what I'm gonna do each day I play and hopefully bank some hrs for $11 each. They also still have the play all day for $50 on Tuesdays this month also.
