Here's an unusual one ... imperial lager  aged in bourbon barrels with hops terpenes added. Four of the six who tried this didn't like it. I did. More herbal than liquor-like to me. Louis XIII from O'So in Plover, WI  in a bomber.

Power out on our block because of an ice storm, so we moved up to the living room for happy hour.

Warmonger extra pale ale by Austin Beerworks. I didn’t even know this was a thing until I saw it at the gas station. Tastes similar to their American pale ale Flavor Country, but lighter. Only 5% abv which is fine since I’ve already had several drinks today

I have some American Solera bottle aged stouts from their early days in 2016 and 2017. At this point I've been afraid to drink them for fear of creating a magma flow from my colon. If you survived this relatively free from harm I'd like to know and it might encourage me to go ahead and drink them.

Bloodwork Orange by Austin Beerworks. A blood orange ipa. Name based on the movie title “A Clockwork Orange”. 7% abv. I’ve tried several other blood orange beers, but none as good as this one

My experience with every Yuengling I've ever had.

When on the East coast and it is priced correctly as a value beer, Yuengling delivers better than other "value" beers, IMHO.

When, like TExas, it starts getting priced into far better crafts and such, there's no way I'm choosing it first.

Yuengling's not supposed to be viewed like a craft beer.

Agreed.  Now tell Texas retailers.

Like I said, when I'm on the east Coast, Youngling is a great beer for the price.  In Texas, not so much.

40 Days and 40 Nights by Lazarus Brewing. West coast IPA. 7.5% abv. I’ve never had it before, but they have it on tap tonight at the Disch so I gave it a shot. Very nice. Would order again

Had a couple of these last night too. Usually get a Jellyfish but this is a good alternative. Great night...beer at the Disch is some of the best beer.

Couple of stouts that are virtually indistinguishable in photos but very different on the palate. Heard that Surly's 2024 Chocolate Limoncello Darkness was on tap downtown so made a special trip to try it; the guys at our basement happy hour, which I missed about three weeks ago, said it was surprisingly good (one of them had brought it from the Twin Cities).

I didn't believe it could be good at all. But it was. The lemon overshadowed anything else for me, but not to the point of being overbearing or dominating. Good stuff.

The second is Central Waters El Ganador, an imperial stout aged in tequila barrels with coffee beans and cocoa nibs. Cocoa and coffee were not too much. Didn't get the tequila, but I rated this a 4.25 on Untappd, which would be top 10-15 percent for me. Liked it a little better than the Darkness, which I gave a 4.

Early Friday drinking at one of our semi-traditional bars downtown (meaning it's only about 50 years old but has long ties to our culture, especially where I work). My wife didn't complain when I went, even though she was home cooking tortillas, as she doesn't work Friday afternoons. Thus the pic of these jalapeño-cilantro tortillas to separate the two fine stouts.
