And here I thought I got ripped off paying $400 for a Bendix air compressor in 1988. It's all a racket and they know they've got you by the balls.

Insider Tip: Don't buy Loctite from Hot Springs Freightliner. They tried to charge me $300 for the dab they used working on my flywheel. I offered to replace the whole tube instead.

A little good news/bad news guessing game.

1. While I was home I put ole sparkle cake in the shop. Fixed an exhaust leak and a few minor issues. First time I’ve been to “my shop” since the whole motor fiasco. My mechanic calls and says the trucks ready so I ask what I owe him. He says $0. He is putting it in as warranty work even though nothing I had him work on had anything to do with any work he’s done previously.

2. 1300 miles from home and I throw a code for the EGR valve and the truck derates on me. I made it to load out in Detroit then head to a shop. $3700 later I have a new EGR valve and I’m back on the road.

any guesses on which one is good news or bad news.

On a better note while I was in the shop I talked to a salesman and we speced, spec’d, specd (none of those look right) out a new 579. Looking at aroo aund $220,000. If I get $100,000 for ole sparkle cake I’ll be pulling the trigger after the first of the year. (Tax reasons)

I go to a little material yard not far from my house.  The owner bought a new transfer a couple of years ago.  We were talking about it, as the KW salesman had just left.  He was paying about $200,000 IIRC, and, that's a hell of a lot of money.  He was feeling like a big shot.  The salesman had come buy to get his signature on something.  He asked the guy if he wanted to grab lunch.  The guy says no, I've got to get over to Superior Ready Mix.    Material guy says "oh, are they buying a truck from you"?     He says "they're buying 100 of them".

Material guy no longer felt like a big shot.

Got to walk around on the field. The he Jets and the Giants each have half the stadium for their “ring of honor”. The only name I recognized was Mark Gastoneau. No Joe Namath or Lawerence Taylor anywhere to be seen. What in the actual fuck. Coked out or not LT is the greatest football player to ever play the game. IMG_1634.thumb.jpeg.96c77810537ce651b3126ac5316170dd.jpeg

Fucking Quebec City Canada. The only thing worse than a Canadian is a French Canadian.IMG_1660.thumb.jpeg.0190da5ef531c3dbd093f26957053103.jpeg

I’d rather be in Mexico.

Explain tractor/trailer registration to me, please.  That's an Arizona plate on the front of your truck, but I thought you lived in Alabama?  Also, I see a disproportionate amount of Okie plates on trailers on the road?  Some tax thing?

You wouldn’t register a vehicle in Arizona if it was a money deal. Arizona assesses an ad valorem tax on vehicles. It is incredibly expensive to register a vehicle in Arizona.

It’s got to do with fees and taxes I think.
