I can’t decide which industry is loaded with the most scam professionals. There are so many potentials candidates. Here are the three that stick out to me:

1. Air conditioning companies

2. Dentists

3. Lawyers

I’m getting my AC fixed and it’s unbelievable how unethical and shitty these companies are. But my experience with dentists and lawyers is also pretty bad.

Unnecessary dental work. It’s huge. Sorry that you’ve got mouth full of fake cavities.

Pretty much all "service" companies, a/c, plumbing, etc. are shit now thanks to private equity.

This is the truth. They’ve bought a lot of the roofing companies and those have become huge scams. Also plumbing,

If you are going through a big "company" for plumbing or electrical or anything like that, you are doing it wrong, friendo.

Everyone needs a plumber/electrician/handyman/tree/AC guy and they should probably be Mexican.  NoCR

Frankly it's really about having good recommendations and finding people you trust.

Most of my service people now are all recommendations and I've been super happy with them.

My oldest son-in-law is a plumber and my younger son-in-law is working on getting his license as a plumber.  I still do my own work for the most part though but if I need something larger, I am covered.  I am trying to encourage my older granddaughters to get into the Electrician and HVAC industries. 😁

In no particular order:

Lawyers

Car insurance

Lawyers

Homeowners insurance

Big AC/ plumbing company

Car dealership

Lawyers

Cell phone company

Edit I had a dentist try to sell me extra bullshit one time, said no and switched dentists

When dealing with plumbers, AC guys, general contractors, I usually tell them "John" referred me to them. I don't know John but chances are they've done work for some dude named John. It probably doesn't mean much but I hope it keeps them honest knowing that I got a "referral" and I'm apt to give a referral if asked.

Private equity buying up Dental, Ortho and Veterinarian shops and doing what PE does.  First thing you should do going into any of these is to inquire about ownership.  If PE owned, find somewhere else that isn't.
