It's made $22.5M on a budget of $13.5M. I don't know if the crowdsourced cash is factored in. But I'm happy for them that it was profitable.

I saw over $36MM so far.  happy for them.

well after looking around it seems you’re right.   I swear I looked at rotten tomatoes earlier today and it said 36.

$22.5MM ain’t bad though

13.5 production costs or all in with advertising (was there any) and other costs?

also, the theater gets a piece of the box office, so they may not be in the black just yet.

stoners will stream the shit out of it for years.  and I think it has staying power.  and I’m gonna buy a cracklin’ bacon shirt.

they’ll make all their money back.

Intro was so fucking absurd and I loved every minute of it

I laughed my ass off. I liked it as much as the first. Can we please stop with the automatic “not as good as the first” mantra? It’s an old and tired opinion.

Saw it on delta this week. Was great. Will ppv at home as I know delta screened out some content

Way better than it had any right to be. "Crowd-funded sequel to a 17 year old comedy" sounds like a diaster. Really, every comedy sequel usually is.

I had friends who loved the first, and didn't like this one, and I just don't get it. What exactly were people expecting? If this one were released first, it probably becomes a cult classic too.

Probably the best comedy sequel I've ever seen (not a huge compliment, but still).

The first was hilarious, unfortunately this was almost all the same jokes repeated without being as funny. There were a few funny moments, but not at all what I was hoping for.

Yeah some of the jokes were not only re-hashed but too drawn out. The "liter of cola" for example

The litre cola joke was perfect based on the premise that they’re now in Canada. I can’t think of many blatantly rehashed jokes. I think it stands on its own just fine. I love the scene of the Mounties at their house watching hockey and giving each other shit and mentioning Danny Devito repeatedly. Don’t know why it cracked me up, it just worked for me.

Much funnier than I expected.  And yes, the Danny Devito conversation was great.
