2025 Tailgate Planning, Budgeting and Fundraising [Updated end 2025]
Professor Chesney replied to immamac's topic in Football
Were any of the games a positive cash flow? I know it’s harder to determine that with season sales, but curious to see which games at least left a good impression on you. One issue I ran into with sponsorships was the “Surly” label and getting that past our marketing department. It was easier to just buy and expense tickets for group and clients. Being under the Burnt Ends or On Texas label might be a work around. -
Holy shit you dipshits: 9-3 Texas is probably in the playoffs
Codaxx replied to Wulaw Horn's topic in Football
I am fine with that, but that also highlights the unbalanced schedules in major conferences. That is ignored when people say conference championship games shouldn’t not matter for the playoffs. -
I am constantly amazed at the number of no football-kicking Charlie Browns we have in this country.

We should be getting more credit for simply playing a slate of all DI schools. Seems like every team in front of us has a win over a D2 school. -

Sark has a habit of taking Lane’s sloppy seconds when it comes to jobs (USC OC, USC HC, Alabama OC) so maybe Sark is getting a feel for the LSU admin as a back up plan just in case.

I left Green Mesquite with a to-go Frito Pie maybe 20 minutes ago... and it's one of the best things I've had this year.

I’m not sure what this means. What I have read is all newly issued IDs in all 50 states and district of Columbia are real ID compliant. OK was last in 2025. Does that quote mean there are still states issuing non-compliant IDs, or only half the people that need to renew have bothered to renew? In Texas, at least, you have to renew every 10 years, so there shouldn’t be many people left
-
I don't disagree, but that Heather Dinich person who seems to generally have the pulse of the committee said if UT was 10-2 with a win against lesser OOC opponent it was not a given to be in the playoff. That's apparently how bad the UF loss and 35-10 UGA loss are viewed.

Lol, I remember renewing my license a year early in 2019 because this was going to be required for everything a few months later.

Yep OR a BYU win. People are flat forgetting only the Top 10 matter...11 and 12 are reserved for teams that have no business going to the playoffs. I doubt it unless BYU drags them(the whole can't punish you for playing that game BS) but everyone in the top 10 right now keep saying "they're locks" That's not true with BYU at 11 and a win gives them a spot...someone is getting knocked out. That's the chaos scenerio. You can't drop Bama and BYU gets in...so who get's dropped? Agreed...but we can't say Bama is a lock based on not being punished then say Tech should be punished. A loss is a loss is a loss. That's it'. 3 Loss Texas is in this boat no matter who the 3 losses were to. Exactly No, the 3rd loss IS what's killing us. 2 loss Texas with one being Florida is at least where OU is if not higher. How? The top 10 goes and who's dropping out? I think they should...but they're not dropping OU/Bama/ND Yeah the ONLY way we get in is a Bama blowout loss and BYU loss. And nothing has gone our way this year. Bama with 3 losses won't have a better resume than Texas...even with the extra win. But they'll pull the "can't punish them for losing the CCG" crap. Exactly...Bama is ONLY locked in if they win, or lose close AND BYU loses. Me too...just a total clusterfuck. Someone in the top 10 WILL be dropped out, and crying how they got screwed, after crowing about how they're "playoff locks" right now. God I hope it's OU. -
Absolutely not. The one I have is expensive enough.

Ojo Rojo replied to Wulaw Horn's topic in Football
The rules don't speak to that. Only conference champions have any guarantees. Besides, you could argue that the best two teams in the conference aren't in the CCG. Bama could be the fourth best team, but yet made the CCG. -

Trumps War on drugs, Venezuela and Colombia
atomheartbevo replied to Wally Fairway's topic in Cloak Room
I hope somebody gets him in front of Congress and the cameras. I can’t see these career officers going down because of what whiskey Pete and Trump wanted to do in Venezuela. I’m glad to see this thing is getting blown up in the media. Although now I think the chances of us going to war with Venezuela went way up so that they can justify the strikes. -
"A CBS News data analysis conducted from April 7-18 found that at least 17 states are less than 50% compliant with the law, which goes into effect May 7. "

Yes. Took my wife (no pics) almost a year to get her DL renewed thanks to Abbott’s fuckery with DMV staffing so she had been using her passport when flying. Expired DLs usually work but apparently a TSA agent having a bad day might fuck with you on it

Ojo Rojo replied to Wulaw Horn's topic in Football
This is a fact: the committee isn't going to make any choices based on the consequences of those choices on scheduling, TV dollars, meaningfulness of CCGs, etc. They will base those decisions only on one question: Which 12 teams are the best in the country? Unfortunately, the criteria they use to answer that question relies too heavily on W/L record. Why? Mostly tradition. College football is fucked up. Whoever has the power to change it should...wait...there is no one who has the power to do that. Which is why we have this fucked up system. The individual schools are all acting in their own financial self-interest. The culmination of those decisions is why we have this system. There has yet to be a financial incentive for that to change, which is why it hasn't. It's sad that no one can recognize the value of anything as greater than money, like cooperation, integrity, loyalty, etc. I guess until fans push back on this shitty system in a way that actually registers a financial loss, then nothing will change. -
