  2. People see the words "private equity" and they think "Ooohhh, fancy finance stuff. This must be a smart move." It's a public university. There are no hard assets changing hands here. The PE firm is projecting future cash flows and doing a present value calculation at a (userous, probably) discount rate. The University is after a quick payday today in exchange for giving up future media rights/bowl share/operating income. Maybe they have a large capital plan they need to fund, but I can't imagine the loan rates for those projects would be nearly as bad as what the PE firm will use to value down their offer. But, hey, what do I know?
  3. I was thinking about Texas & MAGA a few days ago, wondering if (or how much of) this has it's roots in Waco 1993. Then yesterday - in response to seeing the story about Abbott & Patrick's Hitler Youth plans - I got this text from my buddy who knows several Texas billionaires: "This whole Texas maga cult is Branch Davidians 2.0 with lots of money".
  4. 14 million spent on "Support Staff/Administrative Compensation, Benefits and Bonuses paid by the University and Related Entities"
  5. I would say partially true in a short sighted way, partially absolutely a massive miss. Yes, Texas vs Michigan will draw massive numbers. I would confidently wager it will top all the first round CFP games save perhaps Miami and A&M. Now slot in Texas for JMU and ND or BYU (cause fuck ND) for Tulane. That gives you a first round of: Texas vs Oregon Bama vs OU BYU (ND) vs Ole Miss Miami vs aggie A second round of: Texas or Oregon vs Tech Bama/Ou vs Indiana ND/BYU or Ole Miss v Georgia Miami/aggie vs OSU (which will be a blow out either way) The first round goes from 2 complete hammers and a replay to 3 absolute killers and a 4th interesting one. It would also set up for potentially far more interesting 2nd round games for fans. Texas or Oregon vs Tech? BYU or ND vs Georgia? They missed the boat on big money. Feel free to throw Vandy in for ND/BYU if you like. The committee didn't abide by the #1 god. Money and his good friend greed.
  6. Texas will take the money for the same reasons Apple has 100 billion in debt. Which is exactly NOT because they really, really, really need it.
  7. Translation: We have a top heavy administration. Edit to add: And how much you want to bet some administrators are going to get nice pay increases from this deal to boot?
  8. Really don't want Pavia to win this. Temu JFF, trash family.
  9. Likely to slow to a trickle now that her "supporters" have discovered that she has a mixed-race child.
  10. Or sark is leaving ?!?!?
  11. I don't know him. I know very little about him. BUT....I decided to pardon him. "I don't know what this red button does, but I decided to push it." Fucking moron-est moron in the world's most powerful moronocracy.
  12. I think I understand people and the corrosive effect of money upon them. It’s odd that you earnestly believe a school would turn down money. PEOPLE ARE GREEDY. Jesus tap dancing Christ you live in a state filled with clowns in positions of power that will always want more money. To think any obscenely rich institution, it’s athletic programs or whatever else, would say “your money is no good here” just won’t happen. You can bookmark this thread for when it comes to pass a few years down the road.
  13. i mean in ND football history, that schedule is weak bro
  14. truth hurts doesnt it? There is a side you don't know about. She'd be perfect for Dick's Last Resort
  15. I do like the new American standard. Did you upset me in any way? Cool. Then this is the right reaction: Those of you who saw Kentucky Fried Movie will get the reference.
  16. Stassney doesn't seem to undestand that there are accepted methods for dealing with difficult customers. This "lady" chose not to go that route.
