2020 is important. No need to underscore it because we all know it. Whatever Democrat gets the nomination and wins needs to make it priority one to remind China that we can and will destroy the way of life for the elite in that country.

I do not like advocating violence, but these bastards are torturing and killing people who want to be free. I have no sympathy for anyone like Xi. Anyone who does is just a shitty human being. He deserves to sit next to Dotard in the 7th Circle of Hell for the atrocities he has willingly committed.

How exactly is the winner of the 2020 election going to destroy the way of life for the elite in that country?

In case you haven't been keeping up with current events, China has been grotesquely violating human rights for the last 70 some odd years, through Republican and Democratic administrations good and bad.  I won't say we've stood idly by, but we have.

What the PRC is doing in Hong Kong is restrained and moderate by Chinese standards.

Why are you just now upset about it?

And, as big a shitheel as Trump is, it's invidious to compare him to a Chinese leader.  He just wishes he was as big a shitheel as any Chinese leader.

Short of provoking a world war, we aren't really gonna do shit to China.  And the winner of the 2020 election is going to have her hands full right here at home.

Everything you see on news, especially mainstream media, is for a reason imo. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s wrong though.

My theory on the recent anti China push is that after decades of American elites and multinational corporations profiting from the rise of China, their size and obvious push to displace us has become too big of a threat for the national security apparatus to ignore.

It’s a terrible look for LeBron. A guy with hundreds of millions already in the bank, bending the knee to China in order to secure the bag going forward,

What a surprise, you run away at the first sign of conflict, go back to trolling the AOC thread

Conflict ?  For some reason me bashing LeBrown because he thinks that free speech has lots of negatives was a hypocritical thing.  That's from his tweet or whatever platform he was quoted in.

Free speech, the bedrock of our democracy, negatives ?  For some reason you went off on some  slant about my alleged hypocricy.  Not much to debate with you when you come from a position of ignorance.

I'd say the negatives could be you have to hear things that offend you or you don't agree with.

Is it odd to anyone else that this Lebron/China anti-democratic “scandal” is being pushed by far right outlets like Drudge, breitbart, fox, while those same outlets don’t show emotional outrage towards anti-democratic things here in the US, such as gerrymandering or dark money in US politics?

His actual words were so bad, that he sounded like a Chinese mouthpiece. Did you watch his comments?  Cringe af.

Paraphrasing here, but loved the part where talks about people that were hurt physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually etc.

Really?

Holes Shieite!!  Dude actually indicated to be careful when speaking on a politically sensitive topic when being part of a broad organization!!?!?  The words were so BAD!?!

This is some truly scandalous shit. Can you imagine the outrage meter if he had indicated the US should strengthen its democracy by removing dark money and gerrymandering?

Or for for god’s sake what if he had mentioned how anti-democratic it is that our foreign policy in Ukraine and Syria have been highjacked by the personal interests of the president?

Morey posted a tweet. Twitter is banned in China. Nobody in China’s feelings were hurt. Nor was there any spiritual damage inflicted.

It was over the top genuflection towards our #1 geopolitical adversary for money.

If he had mentioned any of the other things you listed, I seriously doubt he would’ve seen much backlash.

I agree that India is not comparable to China, especially in the NBA has working the China market for decades now. It's not as easy to just switch and expect India to replace it overnight.  It doesn't even matter that India will soon pass China in total population.  Besides it's not a zero sum game. If the NBA had previously thought India was a potential large market for them, they would have already had a strong push into India.   (Note: I assume the NBA already targets India but not at the level of China.)

But to the idea that Morey should shut up or even apologize? Screw that. China wants to walk the fine line of NK control of their citizens while opening up to the world. China is the one with the problem here not the US or NBA.

The NBA really needs to worry that someone like LeBron or Curry doesn't come out to support Morey or even Hong Kong. That would set the course for the NBA at that point.

NBA cannot target India because even FIFA couldn't do it. Cricket is religion there and none of these other sports come even close. Think the last time when I read FIFA's report, the market share was:

Cricket: 97%

Rest of the sports: 3%

For money!!?! I can’t believe someone would ever have financial interests. This is so much worse. What is this world coming to? Wait. We live in a capitalistic society and everyone has interests related to money. I’m so confused now

Given that his words that free-speech really wasn't anything that they should be expecting, and there were so many negatives with free-speech anyway  ?  Those words ?

The tide is turning with regards to the acceptability of taking money from China. It can seen throughout the news. You’re being obtuse. Tim Robbins.gif

Le Bron was spouting off that free speech has lots of negative and they (Hong Kong citizens) shouldn't be expecting to have free speech or general freedom.  The only negative issue of free speech is having to listen to people whine they don't like hearing what other people have to say.

Think about if you're Tilman Fertitta. Your Rockets are popular in 2 places: Houston and China. Houston has what 4m residents.  China 1.4B.  The numbers must spell out that the Rockets have more fans in China than in the USA.  FYI, the Rockets are the most popular NBA team in China due to Yao Ming.

2 year ago, Tilman paid $2.2B for the Rockets with a majority of that with newly issued Golden Nugget bonds.  The rest was cash and debt assumption.  If the NBA cash flow from China drops, Tilman needs more cash from his casinos and restaurants to cover the bond payments.  If the casino and restaurant business falters due to a predicted recession...

That’s exactly my point!

What color is Facebook, Ivanka’s clothing lines, Toys R Us, and Walmart?

Our stance is that racism no longer exists brother! The is about DEMOCRACY (sans gerrymandering and dark money). Update your talking points at r/the_donald.

The scandal is also being pushed by AOC and Pelosi too.

My comment was referring to the Lebron “scandal.”

But good point on Pelosi. She is consistent on democratic principles. Very notable. Check out HB1 which would strengthen our democracy here. It passed the House. Just need the senate and White House to get on board.

The For The People Act of 2019 (H.R. 1, 2019)[1][2] is a bill introduced and passed in the United States House of Representatives to expand voting rights, limit partisan gerrymandering, strengthen ethics rules, and limit the influence of private donor money in politics.[3] It was introduced by John Sarbanes(D-MD) on January 3, 2019, on behalf of the newly elected Democratic majority as the first official legislation of the 116th United States Congress.[3][4] The bill was passed by the House on March 8, 2019 by a vote of 234–193 along strict party lines.[5][6] To take effect, it would also need to be passed by the Senate, which has not occurred as of September 2019.[7]

"But the story swirling through the executive ranks of China's film industry Friday was that the decision stemmed from Tarantino's somewhat controversial portrayal of martial arts hero Bruce Lee, the only character of Chinese descent in the movie. Friends and family of the late Lee have blasted the director for the depiction, saying the real-life action star didn't behave as he's portrayed in the film.

According to sources close to Bona and China's Film Bureau, Bruce Lee’s daughter, Shannon Lee, made a direct appeal to China’s National Film Administration, asking that it demand changes to her father's portrayal. "

The interesting part of that article for me was how Freddy Mercury isn't gay in China.

China is not airing the opening night games in the NBA. The loss for the next 3-4 years will be significant for the NBA, but fuck those oppressive communist bastards. Do the right thing Adam Silver and tell them to fuck off. I do not believe he'll do that.

I am so disappointed in this league. I absolutely supported them going after social injustices. LeBron showing that money was his god, while hanging the citizens of Hong Kong out to dry, made me do an about face. Just sad how money corrupts everything.
