We. Are. Not. On. Meyer's. Timeline. He's. On. Ours. He's a yes and has agreed to abide until we fire the derelict.45 points

So I just for funsies looked at all the traffic since this site has started in March of 2018. The last 8 days have been the highest traffic we've had ever all greater than the other high traffic events and sustained. We have served more traffic in the last 8 days than almost all of 1 month in the last year. The other days that competed with these 8 were September 3 2018 (maryland game 1 season opener). August 18 2019 (Cedric Benson RIP) and Jan 1 2019 the Sugar Bowl. Our best month of traffic ever was October of 2018 and we are already more than halfway there 6 days into this month. This is hourly traffic since March of 2018. You can see the spikes during football seasons where games are happening. You can see some in the 2019 season. You see virtually none in 2020. No one gives a fuck about Texas football anymore, people are moving on. This has gotten people excited about football again and it's reviving the community in a big way. I hope we can keep this going. If Tom isn't fired though I think it's clear that this board will just turn into a Texas centric politics board. The bulk of the traffic you see in 2020 on this graph is coming from 3 sources - 40% Cloak Room 30% recruiting 20% football and 10% everything else (DT + Lulz etc)26 points

There will be no such thread. That tradition is dead. Texas will not be firing Urban Meyer he is a proven coach if he cannot succeed here then something is wrong.26 points
-
For me, there are three options here: OPTION 1: Urban is an asshole psychopath. It would be the only explanation if he currently knows he's not going to take the job. I don't believe this is the case, because if it were, it would mean that he is purposefully stringing out The University of Texas, to what? Just be a dick? I have a lot of objections to Meyer's handling of Fuckface McGee and his domestic violence shit, but otherwise he seems to conduct himself professionally. So I think it would be Busch League for him to just play us out like that. He could have, and would have put this whole thing to bed on Fox yesterday. Instead, it was awkward turtle crickets. OPTION 2: He still doesn't know if he's going to take the job. Okay, maybe. But he's known it's coming to him for three months now. In my mind he's a YES, but could possibly be balking because he wants "his team," i.e., his specific staff he's worked with before. I don't necessarily buy this. Coaches aren't always able to walk in with all the assistants they want. And I don't see Urbs as the type of guy who is afraid to take a job unless all the stars are perfectly aligned. But this could lead to a NO if I've misread him and he's a little baby. OPTION 3: He's a yes and waiting on word of Herman's departure. Option 1: 0% Option 2: 30% Option 3: 70%26 points

So to recap... the guys we’re all highly trusting & believing in as the most valuable sources are named Ceddy B, RapGameLarry, and a squid that speaks only in emojis.26 points

Ok, after getting ticked off yesterday after hearing some less than optimal information, today is a new today. There are so many sources here, we need a comprehensive betting sheet. Here is what I can recall we have: Rapgamelarry - or whatever his name is. Dubious source, with some sort of connections, but good heroin for the Board. The squid dude - see raplarry Cedwhatever - see raplarry Mr Orange - too few posts on Surly. Unless someone vouches for him, he's suspect. Alphahorn - semi credible, but weird diversions into crypto raises eyebrows. I do know he has one thing wrong. He said it's been done for awhile. I know that isn't true. RVC2005 - seems to have some real visibility. When he posts, I pay attention. CTJ - i follow everything he posts closely, and he's freely admitted he doesn't know which way this is going. me - I was firmly in the no camp Saturday because my source is impeccable, but since that time I have figured out Meyer has been reconsidering. I have no idea which way it goes. Caddox - Someone said he's credible and that's what keeps me off the ledge. Thamel - He posted some weird stuff implying both directions. Not sure what to think of his proclamations. Kevin whatever - This one's interesting. Either he's got some legit intel or Urban is using him as a pawn in his chess match, like he did with others for tOSU job. CTC2 - He's saying it's a no, and I don't know about his bonafides. Futureman - Has already completely blown his credibility because he said there was never a chance Meyer would come here. The events of the last week prove Meyer is in play and that Texas wants him. Who am I leaving off? Also, the thought that Meyer is still mulling over an offer is laughable. The decision is made. It is NOT a foregone conclusion that it's yes, because Herman hasn't been fired, and he may not want to make a public statement on a job not open.22 points

Apologies, I’ve been traveling this weekend. A close and well connected friend texted me that it’s done. He said 8 years for 80 million which blows my mind because that seems too good to be true, but he is assuredly just sharing what he has heard. I haven’t heard from my text thread again but I don’t think I will until the news hits the media. Confidence level remains HIGH.22 points

3 team members get covid and the whole program suspends all football activity? This is 100% bullshit. They want the season over to fire Herman.21 points

“Hey guys, first time posting here but here’s some bad news that I know even though people who literally get paid to do this don’t know. But you should believe me because my username has something vaguely Texas related” EAT.MY.FUCKING.DICK.21 points

I’m so FUCKING jacked up this morning. Im just gonna throw it out there. This moment represented an existential threat for our entire program. Rebellion at home. Hordes of sheep fucking and meth smoking barbarians at our gates. I have a close work tie to a very active donor. His last name is on a building on campus. He intervened on our behalf basically his whole adult life, and after a long period of time consuming participation, he got burned out after the Eyes debacle. He’s now out of the game completely. It’s my opinion our school let him and a lot of us down. There are a lot of good alums just like him that are deeply disappointed with our school. It is what it is. I don’t care for politics. In the end, I think there are people supporting our program and people holding us back. Traditionally, the people holding us back have run the school. Well, this moment represents a big win for the people that truly care about winning. I’m filled with true happiness with how all of these people have come together for a common mission. Win or lose in the future, our school is a healthier place from this deal. I am not yet able to contribute financially other than my season tickets, but I help in other ways that I think makes a difference. This whole deal has reaffirmed my commitment to do what I can to help us win and defeat our rivals. Like I said, I’m fucking jacked. Hook em.21 points

My recommendation is close your laptops, walk away, and forget it about it all and check back in on the goings on in a couple hours. That’s what I’m going to do. See ya’ll in 5 minutes.19 points

You don’t really understand the full context of the problem. Texas up through the 1970’s was one of the premier top 5 programs in country. This school’s identity is tied with that success. This state lives for football. My high school drew 15k fans for a football game. Since the hiring of Fred Akers in 1977, we’ve gone through 43 years of massive underperformance, with only a few big 12 titles in all of those years. Luckily a once in a generation player delivered 1 national title. It’s been eff up after eff up. People are just done. They’ve had it. We’ve seen our hated meth rivals to the north surpass us. We are about to see a bunch of hoe carrying overalls wearing dipshits pass us too. You don’t know shit about the culture of football in Texas so shut the fuck up.18 points

Alright, I have secondary confirmation from one of the guys that went to school with Rafiti Ghirmai that Rafiti just told him that the usual Sunday practice got cancelled.14 points

Sure. Frankly, I’m convinced it is happening, but I’m also convinced that the UT ecosystem has a pathological need to fuck things like this up, so I can’t get excited. Anyone pessimistic or leaning that way has every reason to see silence moving forward while Fuckface is on the job as confirmation that “Oh no! We suck again!” Honestly, not firing this stumblefuck after OU was a mistake. He’s a cockroach and I’m sure finishing the season by blowing two teams out, no matter how shitty they are, is going to cause people in the admin to shit themselves and try to fuck up anything that is real as an alternative to keeping him. But I’m an optimist. Until something forces me to believe otherwise, I choose to believe that Urban Meyer is marshaling his resources for taking over; isn’t concerned about SD1 because he’s going to raid the transfer portal to find some tackles, a rush DE, and some WRs, while everyone on campus is saying that Hudson Card could compete for a Heisman (that’s being said by many these days); and Herman will be straight up shitcanned on the tarmac in Kansas after blowing them out in a very Herman way to the tune of 37-7.14 points

Updated Insider Rapgamelarry – quintupled down this morning, but still highly suspect source. 10-1 ScholasticofSquid - see rapgamelarry. 10-1 CeddyB - see rapgamelarry. 20-1 Mr Orange - too few posts on Surly. Unless someone vouches for him, he's suspect. 3-1. Alphahorn - semi credible, but weird diversions into crypto raises eyebrows. I do know he has one thing wrong. He said it's been done for awhile. I know that isn't true. 2-1. RVC2005 - seems to have some real visibility. When he posts, I pay attention. 1-1. CTJ – I follow everything he posts closely, and he's freely admitted he doesn't know which way this is going. 1-1. Me – Still don’t know, but have never once heard yes after he said he wanted it. No line. Caddox - He just doubled down with a BMD reference. 1-4. Thamel - He posted some weird stuff implying both directions. Not sure what to think of his proclamations. 1-1. Kevin Burton - This one's interesting. Either he's got some legit intel or Urban is using him as a pawn in his chess match, like he did with others for tOSU job. 2-1. CTC2 - He's saying it's a no, and I don't know about his bonafides. No harm sharing though. 5-1. Futureman - Has already completely blown his credibility because he said there was never a chance Meyer would come here. The events of the last week prove Meyer is in play and that Texas wants him. 10,000-1. Staff list guy – the guy that posted possible Meyer staff, but also said he may not have said yes. Burton – pretty credible, says it’s still undecided. 1-3. Horns99 – said Herman stays. Newer poster. 10-1. Helobious – very suspect mini-BMD. 9-1. InjuryProne – says it’s done and has some connections verified. 3-1. Texas7 – what did he say. 20-1 until I see something. HighlandParkVillageLady – BMD wife, it’s Meyer or an NFL coach. 5-1.12 points
