  1. We simultaneously work to tear down the government while expecting it to save us. We constantly want to blame the wrong things. Government, corporations, churches, fire departments, police departments, the FBI, FEMA, etc... These are organizations and structures that are not inherently good or bad. They are led and operated by humans, and its the humans in them that make them good or bad. And given our late-game stage of capitalism, the humans that lead these orgs and structures have every incentive to operate them in a self-benefiting and society-harming way. If you aren't in California with skin in the game or volunteering to fix the problem, your opinion means jack all. Which means this opinion of mine means jack all.
  2. Capitalists gonna capitalize.

  4. If Arch gets us a national title, there's going to be a lot of "What if we had developed him earlier so he could have played in the 2024 playoffs?" That said, I don't understand the Ewers hate on his way out the door. I was not a fan of his play this year heading into the playoffs and we'll never know if Arch could have delivered more with this team, but Ewers has damn sure been a strong net positive and a big part of our rebirth. Longhorn Football is much better for him having passed through the locker room. His shortcomings will be someone else's problem now. I am appreciative of all the many good things he was able to do during his time at Texas.
  5. I vote overdrive and delay based on whats in that collection, without knowing anything about these specific effects models. You say Boss amp, is that like a Katana with built in effects? If so, maybe someone here knows the amp and what effects might be less great in the amp that the pedals might be an upgrade from. Also, the type of music he's into might provide insight into what direction you should go. If he wants the guitar to play chugga chugga metal/djent riffage songs, well, I wouldn't recommend an overdrive. Really? Curious as to your reasoning. My number 1 pedal recommendation would be a looper for the practice possibilities, but no loopers on that list.
  6. 9 of 10. There is no defense when a hungry man is presented with a bunt cake.
  7. This is 2025, just wait for the environmental disaster and loot his stash.
  8. Or find 5 all americas on o-line that will block perfectly 100% of the time. Which isn’t to say there isn’t some shit to figure out with the O-line, too.
  9. The offense had first and goal from the one yard line to tie the game with about a minute left. We managed to turn that into a 14 point loss. All year, we found stupefying ways to keep lesser teams around for closer-than-necessary wins. Its not surprising that our season ultimately ended by finding a stupefying way to lose to a team of roughly equal talent and ability. Sark is our guy and I appreciate the much he has done right, but the dude has got some shit to figure out on offense.
  10. Well probably have some idea based on next year.
  11. dunno if posted, but there may be some financial incentives to commit arson. As the Palisades fire tore through parts of the Los Angeles area on Wednesday, Polymarket — the prediction-market platform — allowed people to place wagers on certain elements of the disaster. There were at least nine predictions you could place money on as of Wednesday afternoon that were related to the fire. The topic had its own trending module on the site. One question asked: "Will the Palisades fire be contained by Friday?" Betters gave it only a 2% chance of happening. (Officials said on Wednesday morning that the fires raging through California were 0% contained. Two people have been reported dead in the wake of the disaster.) more at: https://www.businessinsider.com/polymarket-takes-bets-palisades-california-wildfire-2025-1
  12. He sure doused the top of that absent of any fire ridge.
  13. That's interesting and all, but we're all really waiting on the opinion of @Incredulity.
  14. I'll buy a walnut hollow body Gibson when MrFuck buys a generic Strat Sounds great!
  15. Rejected. Your Mr Perky would fit snuggly into that little fold of elbow flesh.
  16. Whatever you think of JoeB as a musician or songwriter, he is a responsible steward for a shit ton of historically significant guitar Americana. Hope he keeps it all safe. I guess have to also wonder about Norman's Rare Guitars and all his warehouse stashes, too.
  17. Yeah, some of the others are nice for cleaning up mud, but you can achieve that in other ways in a mix. And I guess position 2 and 3 can give you a scooped mids sound. I can't remember what they were when I played my brother's but there were a couple of settings beyond position 1 that sounded situationally decent.
  18. Introduced by Gibson in 1959, the Varitone 6-way tone control is a circuit that acts as a notch filter, reducing frequencies at set points along the frequency spectrum. Filtering is achieved by passing the signal through capacitors that effectively remove or reduce specific frequencies. As the Varitone knob is rotated from positions 1 to 6, the center frequency of the filter shifts from high frequencies to lower frequencies, producing unique tones at each setting. Probably the most notable use of a Varitone circuit in an electric guitar is B.B. King’s Lucille. An example of the various settings and the tonal effect of a Varitone circuit: Position 1: Bypass (no effect) Position 2: -8.5dB at 1875Hz (or 1.875kHz ) Position 3: -12dB at 1090 Hz (1.090 kHz) Position 4: -15dB at 650 Hz Position 5: -16dB at 350 Hz Position 6: -20dB at 130 Hz The specific frequencies impacted by the Varitone will be dependent on the values of capacitors used.
  19. Drool and congrats. My brother has a nice ES-345 that he loves and I covet. I'll be curious what you think of the vari-tone knob.
