  1. Because Justin Trudeau is trying to pour fentanyl into your kid's mouths.
  2. If you uproot your kids, I would do it in the next couple years. Impacts of uprooting for kids under 8 are not that bad in my experience, over that and their brain has to deal with a lot more loss. YMMV.
  3. That just means Elon increased government savings by an order of magnitude more than the deranged liberal media deep state gives him credit for.
  4. I have a fantasy where Elon Musk is interviewed on “Between Two Ferns” and Zach Galifianakis holds up this photo and asks him, “Mr Musk, you have been called a real life Tony Stark, the world’s greatest businessman and even ‘digital Jesus’. But this photo shows you are simply the second coming of Mike Lindell. How does that make you feel?”
  5. We just need a good Tonkin Trumpkin Gulf Incident.
  6. America after a quarter of elevated coffee prices:
  7. Welcome to the thunderdome, Gayton Bigsby
  8. Who would have thought that in 2025, the phrase "Keep Fucking That Chicken" would become sound financial advice.
  9. Eh, I'm pretty sure we could just ask Steve-O.
  10. After a ridiculous amount of anxiety, I rebalanced my allocations to where I can't be wiped out by an intended or unintended market crash. I now sleep better. Dipshit can do what he wants (he was always gonna) and while I will be affected, I am not so exposed to equity risk that I would be looking to rebuild a retirement nest egg at age 55. I am not sure even an intelligent billionaire can really appreciate the effects that this global game of economic chicken has on the psyche of the 401K investor class. They are in danger of making a crash a self-fulfilling prophecy, which may be their goal anyway. I mean, we've seen what people will accept from their government if they feel financially squeezed a bit. Inflation hurt the non-investor class whose money was going toward immediate survival needs and that was exploited for votes. This new economic crisis stands to squeeze the people above them in the 98% income distribution.
  11. Musk is gonna be bailed out with military contracts for the cyber truck. I mean, think how quickly WWII would have ended if we had had these on the beaches of Normandy?
  12. My name is Dorkmandias! Nerd of nerds! Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair!
  13. I guess what I mean is, if the U.S. were to take a military action in an attempt to absorb another sovereign nation in N.A., would NATO nations help that other nation defend itself from the U.S.?
  14. These retaliatory acts could be used as a pretext for military coercion. What are the odds Canada becomes our Ukraine?
  15. I am in my last 5-10 years of a career and on track for a comfortable retirement. I have a high paying salary now, but it’s likely my last one based on what I’m seeing with peers who are in the job market today. Given that my future salary will more than likely be reduced, I will not have a runway of peak earning years to recover from big market losses if they happen in my time left. So I’m looking to be more defensive with the assets in my portfolio generally while also setting up for interest payments that will be A) reinvested while I have the high paying job, B) drawn from (if necessary) to offset salary shortfalls whenever the high paying job goes away or C) drawn from in retirement.
  16. Tax free municipal bonds distributed in various ways around the country.
  17. Moved from 75/25 equity/bond to 60/40 today. I can't make more moves without some serious capital gains consequences, so likely going to ride from here until/unless there are losses to offset the gains.
  18. Everybody wanted me to do it, him most of all. I felt like he was up there, waiting for me to take the pain away. He just wanted to go out like a soldier, standing up, not like some poor, wasted, rag-assed renegade. Even the jungle wanted him dead, and that's who he really took his orders from anyway.
  19. Seems kind of like this but with the capo vs nut?
  20. Needs a hazardous waste warning.
  21. This is a pretty great post, even if I don't fully agree with all of it. In 2024, about 60% of the electorate was 55 or younger. That means, a large percentage of voters have never lived through/were old enough to have a memory of living through: The first or second World War A time where women didn't have the right to vote, seek an abortion or lead a Fortune 500 company The Great Depression The fight for civil rights and relative racial equality The assassinations of US political leaders like JFK, RFK and MLK The Vietnam War, a draft, its unpopularity and the discord here at home The government we are dismantling today arose from the pain of people felt by people living (and dying) through those things. But for the vast majority of voters in 2024, what it would be like to live through those things without a protective federal government is just an abstract idea. I mean, that's true of me, too. I have an idea that living that would suck, but I certainly don't know it from my own life experience. People are just going to have to live through some shit before they can recognize the value of what they had and demand its return.
  22. I am kinda you. I went from 100% stocks to 75% stocks 25% tax free muni bonds for cities scattered across the country and distributed by climate, geography and politics. I mean, the city of Austin has a higher credit rating than the U.S., at least according to the S&P. I am bumping it closer to 50/50 today but not sure what to do with the 25% I will be taking out of the market. I am well paid, but I am in my mid 50s and have retirement in sight. Realistically, my next job will be at a pay cut and not by my choice. I won't have a runway of peak earning years to recover from big losses. Not sure what else I might should be considering. Maybe foreign funds? I do have oh-shit emergency funds distributed between cash, gold and bitcoin, so it's more about what to do with the big pot that I'd like to see grow, but not at the risk of being unavailable for retirement.
  23. That Firebird would be bad ass if it was literally any other color.
